Yes ....from the perspective, the backline might be a full on mid-price backline .....and I'm feeling comfortable about it, given DEF Premiums score about 95-105 ave
That's what I'm thinking

One suave ****

Equally there must be reasons for him to make the jump.
Undoubtedly a good 3 year Contract .....better terms than what he was on at North

I could never work out, with Goldy 31 yo .....why you happily trade Pruess, but then go and chase Campbell ......why ?

Dogs forward line is gash..

Because we have the s**test forward line in the league. We dominated the stats sheet a few times last year and had more inside 50's at times, even in smashing's. But our inside 50 efficiency has to be the worst in the league. Dogs get it down there and do nothing with it.

Yeah, that's how I remember him from the U18's .......194cm rucking

So what's his JS like now ?

opinions are divided. has a great spring on him. I'm thinking that he'll be given a spot in round 1. not sure if he is in our best 22. may be a choice between him and grigg

Mills, Newman, Smith, Witherdan, Williams, Mcgrath, Roberton, Houli, Hanley, Milera....................just to name a few god damn its a fkin buffet......all could be keepers if not top 6 defenders, i cannot pick one lol, seriously considering same.

If it's 3 premium DEF + Rookies .....I'm thinking 5 mid-priced + rookie could score more & free up $$$

Except you're looking at it the wrong way.

Melbourne gave him that good 3 year contract. Possibly/probably promised him something.

North then replaced Preuss with a break glass Campbell. They didn't chase him, he's an after the fact recruit.

Mind you I think it'll be a bad trade as I think Gawn will still play 90% ruck & the 3 yr contract of Pruess will be a failure unless Gawn goes down or he actually is a good fwd, which I doubt.

It looks good this week but I suspect next week when its a more serious hit out the cream will rise to the top and those mid pricers wont score like they did under no pressure. Same with those mids rookies.

Makes sense ! .....Preuss hasn't come across as been a driven player to play AFL .....might be happy with $350K a year for 3 years to play backup to Gawn in the VFL ....I know I would

I agree ...But for example, we have enough evidence on Milera, Roberton & a lot of those DEF mid-pricers under pressure

How do you know this?

Most players that aren't getting a game look for opportunities elsewhere. They are competitive beasts/ Alpha males.

Can you honestly name one player that has ever left for money but been told they will spend their time in the VFL?

It's ridiculous!

I thought Balta was KP size ....but then the commentators were atlking about how big he was .....what can you tell us about him
IN his 2nd year, after being taken at pick 25 last year. Had a good year in the VFL last year and played at both ends of the ground equally, as well as pinch hitting in the ruck. Your classic swing man - 194cm & 94kg, but super athletic. Was attached to Rances hip
in the preseason... playing forward in the JLT, but IMO is gunning for Broads spot. In that situation would take Rances spot & Rance would play that loose HB/running role of Broad. He would also pinch hit in the ruck if he breaks into the side, which he isn’t doing any harm atm..

My backline going into jlt was:

Witherden, Mills, Williams, Smith, Roberton, Collins (Mckay, Hore)

I have made 1 change, Collins -> Clark

I daresay what was a sort of unique structure will now become a fair bit more popular.

Only one difference to me. I've got Whitfield instead of Witherden. Still contemplating Hanley though

Loving that backline.

Bang for your buck I reckon...
