A top 3 pick would be fair value for plenty of players but the market determines value, and clubs simply don't let those picks go for anything other than star quality - what examples are there of a player like SPS or Weitering fetching a top 3 pick?McKay not be a top 3 in this draft? Petrevski-Seton would likely be for the right club, as would Weitering now.
The problem often is though, that the clubs that would happily hand those sorts of picks over, aren't in the position to be able to do so, unless they can somehow trade/buy themselves into the market.
I did suggest McKay may fetch that in a weaker draft but do you think he would have last year? Ahead of Lukosius? Doubt it. SPS ahead of Walsh or Rankine? No chance.
