No, Cameron was contracted just like Papley is.Would definitely do it for pick 12.
Looking at your stats, Papley has kicked more goals and has a year to go on his contract.
IIRC Cameron was out of contract...it makes a difference.

Yeah, definitely contracted for another year. Was he? OK so even more similarities between the 2.
Sydney don't usually haggle too much, surely Crows first gets it done to be on par with Cameron.

Hes a jetI want us to target Aiden Bonar but I have a feeling we might blink when we start to prioritise.
Why wouldn't he??Do people think Cottrell gets another year?
If he's that good, why isn't he playing this week?I want us to target Aiden Bonar but I have a feeling we might blink when we start to prioritise.
he'd obviously be the one with the burnt face...wouldn't know him if he stood up in my soup.........
Who knows, a second year player who just happens to not be in the best form at the moment? Why are we still giving Dow a game, do we still rate him? It's all relative, and it depends on priorities. Rather a player with plenty of improvement left than someone we don't really rate so highly and traded for him just because we are desperate for a player who plays in that particular position (and who might only have a couple of years left at their peak), if that's the alternative. If he's that good, why isn't he playing this week?
Plus Ive been told salary pressure is not an issue at swans.

Win our next three. I told ya.gee crows have some big players with pea hearts........
Newman deal looking like a bargain for us.Harley seems like more of a shrewd operator, though has moved up the chain.
Certainly his response for stepping in to get the McGovern deal done was referred to as not to help Carlton at all, and I would have liked something back in the Newman deal.
They gave Mitchell away cheaply however but possibly different circumstances with the $’s concerned at that time with their salary cap.
Are we thin or are we young in the midfield? Setterfield is a 100% a midfielder.I'm really opposed to spending big currency - either in dollar terms or trade assets - on small forwards.
It's just not an efficient way to do business. You can find them cheap in the draft. You can find them in state leagues. You can convert other players to play the role. And while you might not get a Papley, you can get someone 80% as good easily by those means.
Plus, looking at how our players are shaking out, a few of our younger 'midfielders' might not end up in those roles. Kennedy and Setterfield and both settling into roles as forwards who can go into the middle (particularly Setterfield). Is the upgrade from Setterfield to Papley really that big a deal?
We're short on a genuine crumber. Great - those guys are available every year, with pick 40+. Take 3 of them in the draft, get them competing for a spot and reap the rewards. If all 3 come good we celebrate.
Where we are really thin is the midfield - we can't just really on the young guys we've taken imo. As before, Kennedy/Setterfield look like forwards who can rotate through. SPS looks like he might be a consistent HBF star in the Houli mode, and Stocker seems on the same path. That's awesome, because we need stars in those roles and I can really see that being fantastiC
We're thin through the midfield right now and need to load up there IMO. Right now we have Cripps and Walsh who have their best footy ahead. Then O'Brien as an outside mid who looks solid, but 2-3 years away from really stepping up. Beyond that... we've started winning because Curnow and Murphy are playing in the middle, fit and healthy, Gibbons is spending more time there too, and it means the other guys are rotating in smaller bursts.
IMO we are 3x good quality center square midfielders short in the long term. 1x outside runner, 2x inside (preferably one of those being a tagger or stopper). It's why Coniglio in the short term would be so huge for us because alongisde Murphy and Curnow we are pretty close to complete in the short term. Dow is a chance, but also looking like it could go either way at the moment.
That's where we should spend our currency. It's much harder to get good midfielders late in the draft, much harder to get them from state leagues. If we've got pick 13 this year and a future first, lets get two good/decent midfielders with those picks whether it is by trade or draft. If we end up with too many mids it’s a nice enough problem to have.
For whatever reason I don’t see Dow as a mid, he reminds me of a Toby Greene type without the great finish.
I can easily see him in this role, floating in to the midfield here and there but being dangerous up forward.
Setterfield on the other hand will fit the midfield role perfect.

You should dispel that idea immediately. Will be very good mid.
