If we use Nic Nat as an example. He missed 2017 with an ACL and was priced in 2018 at a 20% discount based on a magic number of 5400 and his 2016 average.

I'd say Doc will get discounted but the % will depend on how challenging SC wants the game to be.

Not that long ago he would have been priced at 200k....for next year. Wish.they went back to that lol

NicNat is always a risk.

Speaking of GAJ he was priced at his 2017 average of 114.8 this year even though he only played 14 games last year. Why didn't he get at least 10% off?
Because he played last year. Same thing as say Alex Witherden, or any other player that played a few games. No discount applies if you play.

Yes he is. Misses multiple weeks, forced to trade. Missed points. Not hard to understand. Was Nic Nat a risk? Was Gaj a risk after the shoulder? Look how that panned out.

If Doc has a solid pre-season with no hiccups during JLT the risk is negligible. Just my opinion though.

Then why did other players who missed some games last year get discounts? Someone else who knows the exact formula, feel free to correct me, but there are 5%, 10% 30% etc discounts depending on how many games you missed through injury the previous season. However these discounts are applied selectively depending on the player.

Witherden is not an example I would have used to make a point. He was a 1st year rookie last year who missed early games before his debut & before he had any scoring size sample. Rightly he was priced on what he averaged from the games that he did play.

Please elaborate on which players were discounted because of injury. I always thought there was no discount for games missed.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe that this is a hard and fast rule. Personally I want him to be fully priced.

:p:p:p:p .................;)

I don't understand why you would want to make SC easier for the masses. SC has been dumbed down enough. Make it harder! @460k 99% of teams will start with him and he becomes irrelevant.
That was to suit my intellectual capacity's :)

Perfect example of why Doc & Williams should not get a discount next year. Every team will have the same 4 + rookies
But what was different this year .....there was a "core" of players that everyone had, a few POD's, a few bargain buys, and those who went the "premium" rookie route, got hammered

The secret is the game by game trading .....that's the differential

I don't have the list. But if you recall before Rd1 prices did not match previous years averages for a bunch of players.

I think you'll find there's no real set formula and a lot of it is at CD's discretion. Could also have something to do with when games are missed. Someone who played the first six games this year and then missed the rest of the year through injury would probably get some sort of discount, but those who missed the first part of the season and played the last six games probably wouldn't. I could be wrong but I seem to recall it working like that last year.

My gripe is that SC has become too easy for the casual player. With the HUN posting endless articles on which premo's, which discounted bargains and which rookies to pick to the point that anyone can have a gun team from the get go. I know trading is the key, but I'd still like it to be more difficult to put together a good Rd1 team.

So you want to make it more difficult? Easy. Pick your entire squad from GC and Carlton players next year. Problem solved. :p

Any suggestions ?

The more difficult they make it, the less players and website turnover they will receive. Hence why they pump out resources - to try and keep people involved for the entire year. I imagine that is why they bumped up the trades too.

While it may be ideal for experienced coaches to get an edge from Rd1, making it harder would be ridiculous from a business point of view.

He'll be priced at his 2017 average of 114.7 whatever magic number price that equals for 2019 still to be determined. 700k+ probably

He'll get a discount.

The only player to not get a discount at all was Gaz a couple years ago and that's because he is the best player ever, and SC played the "well it'll be no fun if everyone has him" card, and he was a dud pick anyways (for Ablett standards).

Fyfe got dudded of a full discount one season, but still got something, same with Nic Nat.

Docherty is not Ablett, he'll get a discount. It should be 30%, but it'll probably end up being only 20%.

100%. I reckon they might look at some different rules for next year to try and make it more interesting too. IIRC when I started playing in 2010 there were about 300k teams. Didn't crack 200k this year. Interest is on the wane. They need to do something. More trades is NOT the answer, but I don't know what is.

No discounts for starters.

I'd also like to see more positional lines added so KP type defs & fwds become relevant

Backs
HB's
Mids
Rucks
HF's
Fwds
So you're saying, you can't simply choose midfielders for FWD's & DEF's :thumbsu:

Would you like more or less trades ? ......what about injury trades as a separate entity?
