Yeap was having back related issues,
also remember him having a limited preseason and didn't he miss round 1?

He missed round 1. Many SC coaches were uncertain if they wanted to take him or not.

This was my Round 1 team. T.Kelly went BANG and scored 118. Perfect cover.

Also who was to know that Clark was the weakest here, and that Holman was a far better option and scored 96.

Yeap Clark and the rest of the 200k rookies burn a few.
I tried to start a few last year as not starting the 200k rookies the year before 2017SC burnt me.:drunk:
I will take bet each way this year.;):thumbsu:

I also wonder whether Westhoff can maintain his scoring. Lycett isn't coming to Port to play 2nds, so they're clearly planning on playing Ryder & Lycett in the same side. Meaning Westhoff goes back to a role more like past seasons I imagine?

I don't know how many points Westhoff scored from HTAs last year, but he only averaged 8 hitouts a game

I was tossing up about starting Danger or Selwood, when Holman scored 90+ on my bench before the Geelong game I decided to keep Danger.
Seemed smart at the time, wasn't worth it.

I wasn't starting with Danger.
Then he got injured and all you campaigners copied me.
Then I bought all your teams down with me.

Lesson here is dont copy that campaigner Here2tellyouwhy

Don’t worry I was never going to pick Barrass in the first place.

MID-FWD DPP starting selections interesting, there'll be some genuine diversity.
Some cheaper options with ok prospects might help offset Danger 655k-odd price tag (if MN is around the 5.4mark).
DEF/FWDs don't look viable.
Hoff and Lobb both options for the RUC/FWD role for the swingers amongst us, Roughead you'd have to see if he maybe gets a run with Dunn being out.Might be an option if cheap.
DEF-MIDs not tempting the Chol in the slightest.
Taranto, Sic, JDG, Hanley if he looks like lasting a few rds might be ok regardless of DPP loss in respective lines.
This brings our class in superfluous obvious comments to an end.

Wigg.

Three years on the Crows list and one on the GC. Each year a midfielder.
Now without playing a game he changes to a defender. What gives??
Worth some thought though if he gets through the pre-season unscathed.
Think they played him at halfback in one or two preseason NEAFL games before the new injury, maybe based on that?

What do we think about Lobb this year?

Performed horribly after an interrupted PS. At Freo he's not going to be a ruckman, and can play as a roaming tall, but has F/R swing.

Worthwhile or will he be overpriced for the upside?

I reckon he'll be horribly overpriced for the role he will play for us. Sandi/Darcy will split R1 and both will play large game time in the ruck and not much else. Especially if Hogan has a delayed run in and Lobb gets less freedom early. Maybe he gets the magical CD ruck bonus but I doubt it. Westhoff will be the R/F for me.

Blakely lock for Freo. Training with the mids, huge hole to fill in the middle. Plenty of options to fill the HBF role with Logue/Duman/Nyhuis. Hard to squeeze him in with so many interesting D options though.

Seems like definitely a year to load up on DEF/FWD and save cash in the middle. I'm thinking something like:

Laird - Docherty - Whitfield - Williams - Blakely - Rookie
(Rookie - Rookie)

Fyfe/Kelly/Mitchell/Cripps - Merrett - M.Crouch - B.Crouch - Liber - Setterfield - Rookie - Rookie
(Rookie - Rookie - Rookie)

Grundy - Westhoff
(Rookie)

Dangerfield - Heeney - Dunkley - Wingard - Rookie - Rookie
(Rookie - Rookie)

Always wanted to do something like that but the thing that scared me off is lack of captains options on other lines. One midfield superstar, Dangerfield, Grundy, Laird, Merrett I think is a pretty handy lineup for loopholes. Might have to turn one of Liber/Crouch into another rookie too depending on discounts.

What rookies are people liking before the preseason games? Setterfield and the Saints/GC boys seem like likely types.

Setterfield was a lock last year at 195k before he did his knee in the preseason.
Didn't play a game so he kept his DPP.
Is now at a club where he'll get even more opportunity, should be even cheaper to boot.
Absolute lock.

Other than him, anyone that looks like getting a game lol.
The older they are the better, seemed like there were a fair few mature agers picked up this year, should be good pickings.

I really like this. No libba though. Looking to go 6 deep in the mids with titch+macrae with Sloane, Zerrett, Mcrouch and another discounted.

From gc
Rookies in order (assuming state leaguers are 123k)

Collins, Corbett, Burgess, rankine, McLennan, king, lukosius.. Caleb graham not fantasy relevant in the slightest.

Clearly depends on pre season/ round 1 teams.

Message is that state league guys will all be pretty close to selection and you’d think would score ok (particularly defenders). We have limited tall defensive depth (Thompson,Leslie, Ballard - 3rd tall plus Collins, Burgess)

Rory Thompson is injury prone so even if Collins not in round 1 he will be at some point.

Rankine will definitely be in the team for majority of the year but comes with a price tag and small forward in a bad team obviously has limitations.
McLennan sneaky chance to play ahead of Joyce in the back pocket and be 123k rookie as pick 23.
The other 2 talls will play this year but don’t think as consistently. I’d avoid.

Lobb is a no from me. Never averaged over 75 and I just don’t see him as a regular high scorer. Will be playing mainly forward with Hogan. Hogan could average 90+ easily. Just don’t see lobb as a decent pick.
I had Hogan this year, and was a a real roller-coaster of emotions ....one week i'd want to adopt him, the next i wanted to throttle him

It all goes back to this no KPF policy i have, which i continue to be seduced to break .......Hogan frustrated me in a good side, so i have no confidence he'll be better in a developing team, that'll struggle getting the ball to him enough ......PLUS, I DON'T TRUST ROSS !!

Highly doubt any of the Crows Rookies will be viable this year

Understand that, especially after he botched Bonti last year and with Lib coming back. But his backend of the year was just too good to ignore.

105, 86, 88, 105, 147, 132, 106, 157, 116.

They’re mid premo numbers.
Definitely a good form line, the concern remains role and role security, though. Liberatore back, Bontempelli (I think) more midfield time, Mclean will start the season off without the shoulder concern etc.
Don't think he'd be a disaster even in that case, just might not quite fully pan out.

He was initially a no-brainer for me, but given the number of other options we seem to have, he might be on the wait and see list

Agree. I won’t be selecting him. But adds to my no Lobb argument. If we can’t trust Hogan this year. Then I wouldn’t be picking another docker key forward.
