Yes exactly, we don't know the rookies, so saying it's a balanced side now is just a word.

You definitely have a point but at the moment when i say its a good structure i basically mean that its a 'safe' distribution of cash used on rookies/MPs/Premiums. For instance, if you look at the total number of rookies, there are more in the midfield and less in backs and forwards which means in terms of probabilities its more likely that there will be more mid rookies playing than backline/forwardline rookies. Thus, a team 'structure' (or 'distribution') that has more midfield rookies on field than backs/forwards is theoretically 'safer' than one which has more backs/forwards. Immediately i think playing 2/3/0/2 rookies appeals to me as a 'safe structure'. That said, you are correct in that having a certain structure doesn't really make a team better or worse particularly at this stage of the pre-season.

Team doesn’t have 1$ left over

Tell me if it’s pox

Backs Whitfield Williams blakely b Smith Collins burgess bench Wilkie meclennan

Mids Cripps dusty fyfe Oliver Neale Walsh b Smith Bewley bench stocker Atkins hind

Rucks Grundy Gawn bench O’Brien

Forwards danger gray Greene
Rankine setterfield Corbett
Bench Shultz Parker

Very guns and rooks

Greene is a Keeper so have 13 keepers and b Smith
Plenty of Gold Coast rookies which helps with the byes

Bit thin maybe ?

I like the premo's, but 4 x 180k+ priced rookies will slow your cash generation unless they're all averaging 80+ .

I realise rookies are just place holders this time of year, it's the amount of $ outlay that seems OTT to me. Bunch of premium priced rookies rarely = stronger team.

The advantage of having pricey rookies as placeholders is it's easier to keep your preferred structure and even strengthen it when rookies are named. Whereas if you have all cheap rookies you're probably going to have to lose a premo or two.

I get that, they're place holders for now which help hold desired structure. I'm questioning whether they would actually start with 4x 180k+ rookies come round one.

4 is excessive. Although I do recall seeing a few teams on here last year that started with combo's of Naughton + 2 of Brayshaw/Dow/LDU + 1 of Rayner/DFog which wouldn't have turned out too well
Agree 100%

I’ve got currently got Bailey Smith who I think will win the rising star not sure how he will go in SC, averaged 125 at tac cup.

Is Sam Collins a lock? Cause I don’t trust Dew. Thompson & Hombsch will be first choice surely. Logue a better choice for JS.

Rankine a big no @ 198k small fwd playing for GC

Based on last year, is ant Rookie likely to be worth $180K plus ? ......I've currently got Rozee, has DPP status & likely to get a lot of games .....but his scoring alone hardly justifies his $189K price tag

Hoping Bennell gets up at $167K :p ....but that's been the same the last 3 pre-seasons :'(

Is Collins really worth $188K as a DEF ? .....struggling to see the value there

Agree, Bailey Smith looks ATS the best of a bad lot of premium rookies .....Sam Walsh anyone ?

Sam Walsh could be 1 expensive rook that might pay off. Depends on his role though. I think he can junk up and go 75+ if they play him at half back this year, kind of like Essendon did with McGrath in his rookie year.
