Weve been after wright since his draft year. Earlier this year i stated we were very keen on trading for him. He is in the perfect age bracket and while his development has stagnated somewhat is still a very good prospect. He was dropped this year and he and his management were rightfully furious. He wont be swapped for greenwood straight up but a pick in the late teens early twenties could be enough. Frampton to us is as good as done. Which is interesting because it leaves himmelberg fighting for his spot.. conveniently he hails from the sunshine state..... there will be alot of movement for us this trade period.

Why are you pretending to know anything? Your average makes Faith look like Bradman

Really, have a look at his stats as a FF.

He’s only had 1 good season, the rest of the time he’s toiled around at 1.5-1.7 goals per game.

To give you some perspective on that, in Tex Walker’s worst season (2018) he still kicked 1.82 goals per game. And that was off absolutely no preseason, carrying 10-15kg extra weight, and running around on 1 foot.

I know there is more to playing FF then just kicking goals, but at the end of the day, it’s a pretty vital KPI for the position
check Zac Jones's disposal

I think there’s a lot of lunacy surrounding the age of players personally. 26-29 is a player’s prime. Keath, CEY, Greenwood were all in the first year or two of their prime. By saying they won’t be a part of our next flag tilt, you’re saying that we won’t be contending for the next 4-5 years.
Let's be honest. We weren't contending for the last 2 years, which we wasted (particularly this year when we knew with about 6 games to go, but stubbornly refused to accept) by not starting the process of getting games into kids as soon as possible. We need Jones, Scholl, Fog, Berg, et al to get to that 50 game mark to take us deep into the finals

Edit: I've missed the point of this post. Sorry. I do get decently autopiloted with this debate.

If you look at someone who hasn't been successful, you are less inclined to take their advice because you know it hasn't worked out for them. That's not sport, that nature, as to be the best you need to learn from the best. If you wanted Mackay to teach, he had to be offered a coaching position and preferably focused on recovery where he has specialised, not a playing position because he is wasted in a playing position where his playing career plays a role in the quality of his advice.

Though, of course, that depends on how you define success, which I can accept is different from person to person.

A coach is vastly different to a player. You tend to be forced to respect them because your playing time and security depend on them. From there it is up to the coach to build their reputation, and trust so that respect becomes more natural.

I have no doubt Mackay will make a fine coach once he does his time in the system and builds that reputation. I have serious doubts he could sell what message he has as a player because he is the type which should have been delisted 140 games ago.

A player in their twilight and a coach are very similar except one trains and one doesnt.

1 year of David Mackay isnt going to kill this club.

I love criticising Mackay as much as the next bloke, but this is so true.

1 year deal on chump change isn’t going to have any impact on our list development unless he suddenly plays every game (which he won’t).

He’s cheap insurance, much like Otten was this year.

Read an article that Smith apparently wants to go to Brisbane (as reported), B.Crouch to GC for $5M for 5 years (as reported) and is poaching his brother there as well (as reported) and Greenwood is a star but the article says GC can get him cheap with pick 50+ instead of 20 (but he is a star o_O ).....and this is all according to the writer.
Then they will get solid picks and trades so don't mind this at all

Cheap insurance for what? What are we doing next year?

As for not going to kill the club, no ones said that but with the spot we are wasting on him we potentially miss out on a good player who could be part of our next premiership. It’s only a small chance but Mackay has no chance.

I agree, I just think some of the wrong players have left. Otten, Douglas, Jacobs, Jenkins, Hunter, Knight (if he leaves) = jog on, nothing to see here. Betts in terms of actual on-field impact = no dramas either.

Ideally I would keep CEY and Greenwood as they are the only two AFL standard big-bodied mids on our list in a league that contains a stack of them. Just take a look at what Cripps, Bont, Fyfe etc do to us when these guys aren’t out there. Now we have 0 options, and they don’t exactly grow on trees in terms of 18 year olds either. And no, Patrick Wilson doesn’t count. He’s not good enough and never will be.

Ideally I would lose Mackay and Atkins from the midfield, retain CEY and Greenwood, and draft speed, plus inject the speed of Jones, McHenry and Hamill into the side over the next 24 months. It’s better balanced, and it’s far easier to achieve.

Keath was our best defender this year. Not one of the best, THE best. The B&F results will prove this.

Ideally we would have retained him and jogged proven failure under pressure Kyle Hartigan on. As many have pointed out, they are the same age, so how does retaining the shit one and losing the good one help us?

It remains to be seen what is happening with Laird and B Crouch, but if I was them, I would certainly be considering my options. Why stay at a struggling club where the vibe is constantly negative, that is clearly not going to contend in the next 4-5 years for less money than what another struggling club with far better under 22 talent is offering?

From all the players leaving, Keath and Greenwood are the two with the potential to really bite us in the arse. I still think both will improve again next year and in three years time we may very well be wishing those two were still in the squad.

For me it’s a line ball decision to not give them longer contracts. Everyone else confirmed as out the door is a no brainer.

You know what shits me about AFL.com.au?

they hardly have articles anymore.

it's all videos of people i don't care about telling me things i don't think are true.

I don't want to have to put headphones on to hear rubbish, write it down so I can quickly skimread it between work assignments, not so i have to stop and listen and watch a stupid 5 minute video of idiots.

We are struggling to have enough players as it is.
We currently have what 3 picks before 101?

We need to fill 8 list spots minimum.
9 if you delist Mackay.

"Ideally I would keep CEY and Greenwood as they are the only two AFL standard big-bodied mids" - I'd argue that wiht less than 40 games in 8 yeras, CEY is borderline at best AFL standard.

"Just take a look at what Cripps, Bont, Fyfe etc do to us when these guys aren’t out there." - CEY played on Fyfe and he smashed him! Look at what Merrett, Neale, Treloar did to us - it had nothing to do with body size

"Keath was our best defender this year. Not one of the best, THE best. The B&F results will prove this." - Talia and Brown were our best defenders, Keath 3rd if you look across the WHOLE season, not just 5 or 6 games

Hartigan wouldn't get anything, and while I agree he's slipped a long way this year and if we had a replacement, he'd have gone for me. He doesnt' get us anything if we trade him though. Keath gets a potential 150 game player with a pick in the 30s. It's good list management to trade him while he is of value

And the few articles they have, are opinion pieces from crocosh*t staff

You do know when we trade a player out, we get something coming back...

What players are we linked with?

What quality of players are we going to get for our scraps like Betts, Knight, CEY?

We're getting no players back.

We might get a few more picks in the 50s or higher. Hooray.

We all thought he was insurance this year too. He will play less than 3 SANFL games in 2020

I think Talia was our best defender when you look at the entire season.
