I think we got shoo'd off by Richmond twice and our cupboard is bare in terms of big bodied enforcer type mids. CEY makes a lot more sense from this context.

Glass half full: He is seriously considering us! The warm weather, our great medical staff, gets closer to his brother and joining a team on the rise. Makes sense.
Best case scenario, we can a close to AA forward that adds a different skill set to our forward line.

Glass half empty: He is going on a holiday with his brother who lives in Qld and plans to fly out from there together. I might as well drop in at the Lions while I’m there, just to have a quick look. A smart negotiation tactic for Coll and Melbourne.
Worst case scenario if we do pick him up: He is a frustrating, injury plagued forward, who averages 10 games a season and simply can’t get on the park.

So what was our worry then? To me, we didn't have an answer for Martin in both games. One of the reasons to me was the ball was coming out too easily in the middle and they had a lot of time to hit their targets on lead - Martin was even more dangerous with so much space. Their mids were experienced, too skillful.

If we could win more contested ball than what we did, maybe.. just may be the ball won't get out that easily. We lack depth in this area and all our mids are on the small end of scale. We need a bigger body to create a difference, I am hoping CEY could do that for us.

Our midfield got monstered at times this year. I reckon he will add a bit of grunt.

Jamie Elliott would be an amazing get for us, our forward line would be extremely hard to match up on.

He’s always struck me as a shorter version of Jack Reiwoldt. Very smart and great mark.

The ball was coming too quickly out of our forward line, not our midfield. The Martin factor was just another concern, but that's a given for him against any opposition.
EDIT: I still think CEY is a good addition

Yep, one thing that stands out for me about CEY is his ability to use his body, especially in shepherding, to assist his teammates.

I think you'll be very happy with him, especially costing you nothing.

Sad to see him go. Look forward to seeing him and Lyons together next year.
