All that talk about Zac Williams a few pages back, was that purely just chat on here or did someone in the media bring it up?
Pure chat I’m pretty sure, more so just an example of the type of player we’d ideally like to get

I really don’t get this logic. Brown was leading the Coleman with one round to go. Without a doubt he is in the top handful of KPF. I rate him highly, but realistically I don’t see any way he leaves the roos.

No logic just a personal preference

It's a potential money ball acquisition. IF that's what we are after is a perfect fit. unless we want to drop McStay and pay $900k a year for someone else.

The reason his stocks have plummeted are around perceived attitude and off field issues, he is not viewed as lazy on field (that's a new one) - if he plays 22 games next year my money would be on him kicking 45+ goals with a fresh start.

IF we are sticking to the plan up forward (which I'm actually ok with) and hoping McStay can kick 40 goals next year, then there's no point bringing him in because he is cheap.
Don't mean to be negative "lioninthesand" but I would like to know what makes you think/hope that McStay is capable of kicking 40 goals next year?
He's played 103 games, kicked 74 goals in total, kicked 21 goals in total this year and will be 25 years old next season/in his 7th year of AFL footy.
I just don't see it happening at all but am open to hearing why you think he might be able to.

I'd be very surprised if we bring in any key position players. As we saw yesterday the tigers can make key forwards and backs look second rate if your ball use and defensive pressure is poor. If the talk is real about Laird and ah chee I think that would be a good trade period. Get another preseason into all our young players (2nd youngest afl list in 2019) there will be more improvement across the field and fingers crossed we have a similar season with injuries.

Googled him. He's 19. Not sure if that's the player we're looking for to stand up in a final. You'd think Payne or Skinner could do that job.
Agree 100% Brab. Skinner, Payne, Fullerton & Ballenden all have a huge opportunity next year and in my opinion, all have the ability to step up and become regular best 22. KPF's don't grow on trees and also don't really hit their full potential until 24-25 years old. Those 4 lads are already on our list. Adding another 19year old when we already have young talent doesn't make sense to me.

+ Kobe Tozer in the up coming draft

HOT TAKE ALERT.

Mcstay and Hipwood would look like world beaters in the Richmond setup. Our forward entries are too slow against the best teams and the blame is being put on the wrong people.

Next season we'll start to implement surge footy in addition to our very successful game plan from last year and that'll make our key forwards look better as they get cleaner forward entries.

Unless we can bring in a Cameron/Lynch/Riewoldt/Kennedy type we're not going to get much better than what we've already got in terms of KPF stock.

Hippy will get there but we just have to be patient.

I'd almost go as far as saying kicking 3 goals 2 in a final is already there...

No disrespect to Payne or Skinner but Riccardi is a better player now and he is 19. You watch him blossum into a topline AFL player....his growth this year has been phenomenal playing against afl like competition week in week out.

Is he a short term answer or a long term answer?

He is ready to play AFL in 2020, Ben Brown came via the same path to the AFL through Werribee, he is a 10 year kpf for north. Riccardi in my eyes can be better than Ben Brown. A ton of clubs are looking at him.

He is not just a short term solution, he is a long career ahead of him at his age. Will go in the first 35 picks for sure. Maybe even 25 picks.

Its better to envisage what you can have in 2 years than expect Riccardi to kick 40 goals at AFL level next season, but he is capable of doing it.

Think you're looking at solving a slightly different problem then. If he doesn't push Mcstay out next year he spends the year in the Seconds. At that point he's just another Skinner/Fullerton/Paine/Ballenden

Not necessarily against it but it doesn't solve the problem that everyone is talking about right now.

If we were to chase a fwd this year, i dont think we will, id have a crack at young fogarty from the crows. I did see his name mentioned in an article a while ago listing crows players that may/could be traded. A long shot i know, and the kind of player the crows would look to rebuild their fwd structure around, but a genuine talent long term. The chance to move to our up n coming club with success ahead could be appealing.

Brodie’s comment isn’t aimed towards Doedee. The article is meant to be about Smith, with Fox clearly getting the names wrong.

Rubbish.

Welcome young Riccardi, not enough draft hopeful on here telling how good they are 😂

His problem is that he hasn't been getting games, can we offer that? I can't see Fogarty and Rayner fitting into our forward line at the moment. We've invested a lot in Rayner over the last two seasons, that should start to pay off soon.

He might indeed become a player and you might be right... but Jordan Lisle is the leading goalkicker in that comp, so kicking goals in the VFL doesn't necessarily translate into being AFL ready. I watched the highlights of the 6 goals Riccardi kicked against Coburg, a bottom side, and he wasn't really under much pressure for any of them, although there is a nice crumbing snap amongst them. I think Skinner is a good option as is Fullarton, both with the mobility to be modern forwards. The game is moving away from tall forwards a bit anyway... De Goey and Martin are the new prototype forwards and it's players like them that you want to have on your list.
