Lol, sorry lionsrules. The manager is playing a long long game if he plans to stay at the pies. I'd love to know how much of the stories are fact based & how much pure speculation. If the reports on Channel 7 are anywhere near the truth, the Pies have a two year deal around 400K on the table, the Lions a three year deal around 600k. If the pies don't offer three years, I can't see him staying, he'd probably take a hit on the amount per year to what he could get from the Lions, but not an extra year.

If the Lions really want him I reckon they'd give him a three year offer with a trigger for a fourth. Personally I think he'd be the biggest signing for us after Neale.
Cameron ? Elliot's what 27/28 . But I agree getting a player off Collingwood who is clearly one of their better players is somewhere we haven't been in a while.

I totally agree.
The more I think about it the more I think it's just the manager trying to up the contract value. The very public walk to the lions headquarters just seems super over the top to me. The manager would have absolutely informed the media so they could be in place to film the walk in.

Yeah true. Cameron's a star no doubting that, I'd probably have the signing of Elliott marginally above him just from the body of work thus far in his career. At the time I'd say most thought we paid overs for Charlie. In hindsight we all know that's not the case.

Players generally only qualify for free agency around 26, so can't get them too much younger without having to trade ... unless they are delisted.
I agree in a sense, we think we are ready now. But honestly...26, 27 is a safe and sensible age to aquire free agents, burning draft picks like Criwd did with Gibbs is different. Player movement is here, we need to stay active in this space.

Hindsight's an interesting thing isn't it Bangy.

In Hindsight the Crows had Betts and Cameron as their two small forwards when they were a force , and not many realised at the time they were probably the two best going in the one team.

Corey Lyons commenting on the Club Champs livestream that he is moving in with Witho and Cam and will be getting ready for pre-season. Has he been re-signed without any of us noticing/finding out about it?

He might just be trying to gaslight us into keeping him

Personally I wouldn't be offoading him. I like guys that do an extended period of excellence in the twos . Who knows what you get with opportunity.

I have said this before and I will say it again.

Hey Dlions, stay away from him. I saw him first! [emoji6]

Completely agree. Still young (drafted in 2016) and couldn't have performed any better in the NEAFL without debuting. Very much worth keeping around for another year as inside mid depth.

The magoos NEAFL standard is hardly VFL or SA league though . Hasn’t got a game in 3 years suggests to me they don’t think he is up to it . Delist personally .

Well they might think that . Or maybe there just wasn't a game where he was better than anyone else we had . On what I've seen he's a smart player who has a go . His brother's got better with age hasn't he . I'm in the not sure corner with him , but he has improved every year so far.

David Noble up on the club champs stream now.

On Elliott - have thrown our hat in the ring, excited by the idea of getting McCarthy, Rayner and Charlie up the ground and in the midfield rotation if we can get Elliott in. Also not very happy the news got out today.

An excellent interview/chat with Noble as usual. If the club ends up clipping it separately it is well worth a watch for those that missed it.

I liked the bit right at the end. We might not be as big a player as last year but strap yourself in, we've got plans.

A vocal few didn't like the Charlie trade, every one generally loved it and didn't think we paid overs.

I didn't mention anything about anyone not liking the trade. Some may have not liked the trade & posted about it, but I don't remember them. At the time, I along with many thought that pick 18 would get it done, but we used pick 12. It surprised quite a few in the media too. One response I specifically remember though was from Terry Wallace who congratulated us on getting the deal done, getting a player in who wanted to be at our club & not squabbling over 6 spots in the draft.
