Only a campaigner decides that everyone who does not have the same take on a situation as him/her has to be a campaigner.

Hahaha no.

Everyone was pretty keen (apart from you!) And as soon as he's not coming everyone's lining up right on queue to try and convince themselves that he wasn't worth it anyway. It's childish.

Still only a two year contract. Thinks he has a better chance at silverware if he stays at the Wobbles. We'll just see about that.

From the Afl.com.au article -

“It is believed Elliott's dialogue in meetings with Brisbane on Saturday gave the Lions the impression his heart remained set on black and white.”

Interesting. There are few scenarios where it’s our club who said thanks, but no.

Status was we were in discussion and offering a contract subject to fitness/medical test taking place in final meeting.

1. in that meeting we felt he wasn’t that into us, and buy in is a critical requirement of any player traded in. And we lost interest.

Or
2. possible that the fitness/medical showed up problems. And we lost interest.

Or
3. The TV cameras showing up might have been a cultural jump too far for our club as it’s just not how we roll. And we lost interest.

So maybe our guys who plan calmly around facts and not emotions (obviously not on bigfooty then) simply stayed in charge of the process of bringing in players, and Elliot actually lucked out.

in fagan and Noble we trust.

Very disappointing to miss out. I’ve said previously I still think we need at least one more game breaker up forward or in the middle. Elliott certainly fits that bill.

Honestly though it looks like we were never really in with a chance to begin with and that’s probably why it feels a little more sour.

Moving on, I hope that if our “only” two in’s are CEY & Ah Chee, that we do our best to retain as much of the depth players as possible. I don’t want to get to a situation next year where we get a standard head of injuries and we are back to relying on kids again.

Makes sense.
We have that on the up destination flavour about us at the moment coupled with the family aspect - it looked from the outside a genuine chance and Collingwood blinked.
Probly won’t ever know if he was genuinely interested or not.

Comfortable with the result knowing we didn’t have to play desperado.

Did not want him on that money, 30 games in 4 years and plays forward pocket. If I wanted him I would have come in here and joined the chorus, which I did not. I’m not going to spend anymore time trying to convince you, believe what you wish. Just can’t work out how you can think everyone must have desperately wanted him.

Hold your colour, team. Jesus Christ.

He's an above average but unjury prone player in a super team that we dont desperately need and he used the credible threat of a Lions list spot to get some sweet cashish. He did not play us, he played the Pies.

We have gained and lost nothing.

He was just there to get the footage on the news of him walking into the Gabba, never had any intention on coming. Good on him and his manager TBH, smart negotiating, extracted some more $ out of Ed.

Damn straight. Jumps on a plane, goes for a quick tour of the Gabba, just so happens to have a news crew standing by.

Pockets an extra 50k per year for two years.

Pales in comparison to what I'd be prepared to do for 100k :D

Mate can you stop taking it so personally Jesus Christ it's not all about you

Either way we had to cough up more and that restricts us going forward so not a complete bust for you guys even if he was playing both sides

Maybe ease back on the antagonism by 50 percent or so.

If we hadve gt him I would've been hoping we got the best out of him but don't mind that he didn't move. If Rayner breaks out in that role he will kick more than Elliott could've

Can't say I'm disappointed or shocked by the Elliott news. Never sat right with me from the start and I honestly think he had very little interest in coming but at least extracted a bit more coin out of the Pies and they are going to have real issues with the cap in next five years. Wouldn't be surprised if Beams retired which will help them in that department.

The Crows would want to get a move on with the coaching appointment. Must be a few players at that club who weren't considering leaving who might think twice if they haven't appointed one by midweek. Hope we are still in contact with Smith and Laird :)

What pick range do you guys reckon would get Taylor to the Swans?
I think the Lions and Swans will get this one done all in good faith. Squizzy won the rising star but also got in a little trouble back home with a mate. Cleaned himself up after that and knuckled down. Robbo, McCluggage, Berry took over the wing roles, Cameron, McArthy, Rayner, Christinsen have the small forwards. He is a great little player and a good bloke, you guys would have had a good look at him in the NEAFL. I think our guys would be happy for him to get a run elsewhere.
