Real disappointing trade period from us, lose 3 quality depth players and hodge and not really replacing them with any ready made players besides CEY and a injured Birchall. I know we can't bring in a Cameron or Neale in every year but it would of been good to bring in some solid depth and fill some needs like the lack of run off half back. Hopefully Ah Chee ends up being a good pickup.
3 quality depth players who barely played a game this year. Time to give the 2nd and 3 year players a decent run and see how they stack up. All the players leaving are at best 18-25 ranked at the club. Not the end of the world

I think our 3 ins and our draft hand stacks up pretty well with every other team, not a lot of big names got traded this year, a few journeymen among the traded.

And just on St Kilda. Are they in a premiership window & I just haven't noticed?

I don't think the Saints have done that well. They might get an extra couple of wins for 3-4 seasons but they paid a lot. Similar to us in 2009 I think.
They gave up there second best goalkicker with no replacement. Ryder has 2 years at best left, neither Jones nor Butler are game breakers. So yeah, not as great as some reckon.

Still can trade picks.

St Kilda have done very well, and under Ratten I think they can genuinely push for the 8.

Western Bulldogs have added to their key stocks. They can push hard and far next year too.

I’m happy with what we have done. If for an firing next year, we’ve probably added 3 best 22 players that fill holes. Certainly going to create some good competition for spots.

He chose Carlton. He will get to Carlton in the third or fourth round. Dodongo can't see him changing his mind and when clubs see he him wants to be a blue they won't pick him.

If he nominates the PSD Gold Coast wont reselect him. Keeping players who dont want to be there is counterproductive for them when they are trying to get people to stay and attract players

There will never be another Nick Stevens situation. Dodongo is confident on that
All the other clubs now have a 5-6 weeks to sell him on going to them instead. Could be interesting to see who’s interested

Good point on Bruce. They’ve plugged a couple of holes with some outside run and potentially a good key back but there’s still too many holes for them to be contenders

If you look at above teams with not many picks
Eagles (46) and saints (51)have one draft pick
Pies (35,62) Dogs (13,53)
Blue (9,43,57)
Cats (14,17,24,36)
Suns (1,2,15,20)
Not sure what swaps you do for 16,21,34,48,52,55.
52+55 into 46 from Eagles?
9,13 or 14 be nice although I assume both teams want 16+21 or 16+34 or more.
15 not worth it if they wanted 16 + another. 21+34+55 into 15 work for us :)

Be interesting on the night.. what is the word on father/son and NGA kids this year?

He was mostly a good boy and stuck with the club through some desperate times so it pains me to think and to say, but I genuinely think that Lewy Taylor will remain fringe at the Swans, and will slip into obscurity.
Cutler maybe a change of coach do wonders. Squizzy Swans get the best out of players with less skill then he has.
Wish them both well.. Apart from when they play us :)

It's going on the banner next season when we play them.
I would prefer if it was just a really good quality screen print of the still shot of Big O getting a free in front of goals for a push in the back.

Players can choose to nominate the ND or only the PSD. Martin will be nominating the ND because GC has the first pick in the PSD and has indicated that they'd retake him (though no one nominates for the PSD any more anyway).

IMO he won't get past Melbourne's 2nd pick..

1. Gold Coast Suns (priority pick)
2. Gold Coast Suns
3. Melbourne
4. Adelaide Crows
5. Sydney Swans
6. GWS Giants
7. Fremantle
8. Melbourne

Sad to see two players leave who gave us some excitement and hope through a few tough years. Definitely understand the decision and happy to see them get opportunity elsewhere.

Will genuinely be rooting for them to do well.

They'll be hoping to land a big fish next year(Whitfield or De Goey?) and have a crack at the 2021 premiership I reckon.

And fail miserably.
