If you look at above teams with not many picks
Eagles (46) and saints (51)have one draft pick
Pies (35,62) Dogs (13,53)
Blue (9,43,57)
Cats (14,17,24,36)
Suns (1,2,15,20)
Not sure what swaps you do for 16,21,34,48,52,55.
52+55 into 46 from Eagles?
9,13 or 14 be nice although I assume both teams want 16+21 or 16+34 or more.
15 not worth it if they wanted 16 + another. 21+34+55 into 15 work for us :)

Be interesting on the night.. what is the word on father/son and NGA kids this year?

Carlton have pick 9 and pick 43. Nothing in between. No way Martin goes there now. That's the funniest thing since Aish thinking he was too good for us.

IMO he won't get past Melbourne's 2nd pick..

1. Gold Coast Suns (priority pick)
2. Gold Coast Suns
3. Melbourne
4. Adelaide Crows
5. Sydney Swans
6. GWS Giants
7. Fremantle
8. Melbourne

Freo in desperate need of a winger and Bell just the type to take him. Welcome to Freo Jack you and your mate Aish can share a house together.

Two weeks ago Carlton were getting Papley - Martin - Butler and Betts. Only Eddie made it. Epic fail. Once Daniher wasn't coming to the Swans it was always going to be hard for the Blues to get Papley so they couldn't be totally blamed for that. But not getting Martin is a massive fail unless they get him in the draft but even then they will have to most likely part with pick 9 and they could have parted with that in the trade and got 15 back from the Suns.

In the end SOS just had to suck it up and give 9 and take 15 - move back 6 spots and get a guy who if fit will play 22 games for your developing side. Everyone said we gave overs for Cameron at the time but they wouldn't be saying that now. Poor trade period for the Blues and SOS.

Dodoro will be sweating bullets over Daniher in 2020. If Joey gets on the ground and plays well then Dodoro will be seen as a hero but if he cant get out there or has a very poor season then he will be seen as an idiot for not cashing in.

The word from the likes of Goddard was that Daniher didn't put in the required effort in rehab. Well if he is in rehab next year you can imagine the output will non existent.

Saints will improve dramatically with Hill and Jones running up and down the wing at Marvel. Ryder will be good for them for 12 months but that's it. But the Saints would want to hope Max King stays fit otherwise they will have burnt two draft years. First pick this year is 51!

The Doggies have done very well and I can see them being a top 4 side next year. Got a very good list and strong depth. Eagles with Kelly will be right up there as well and almost impossible to beat at home. I do think Kennedy is starting to get banged up and Rioli will be a bigger loss to them than many people anticipate.

As for the mighty Lions - I think we did well. Got three players in and it cost us next to nothing. Think Ah Chee has a big upside if we can get him fit and firing and CEY will be solid depth for our midfield and capable of playing on guys like Cripps who killed us this year.

Sad to see Lewy and Cuts go and we didn't get much for them but everyone knew they were out and paid accordingly.

It’s easier to rain on the Blues and SOS but the real losers in the Martin deal is the GC. There is nothing in holding fast when a player wants to go you have to cop it but at least try salvage something. They will end up with nothing. At least SOS still has pick 9. And to be honest Martin has never lived up to his potential. If 9 becomes a star then history will show Blues made the right call.

I'd piss myself if the swans use their 1st pick on Martin....They'll end up with Carlton's trade targets in Papley & Martin

I disagree. The situation with the Suns is a very unique one. They are in the position now of having such a bevy of high picks & draft concessions that they can afford to take a hard line stance if they feel the need to send a message to scavenging Victorian clubs. Pick 9 for Martin & Pick 15 was so fair it wasn't funny.

The suns may not have gotten anything material out of it, but I think the club will benefit from standing its ground. It has always been seen as a failing club that can be used to farm talent for everyone else, but this offseason they've shown they have a level of self respect where they'll get nothing on principle rather than take what they think is a short-changing deal. It's not going to help them from a list management perspective but I think it's a positive sign for the strong internal culture they're looking to build, and fits well with the vote of confidence King gave them with his extension

Best 22

Ah chee Andrews Gardiner
Birchyl. Adams. Rich
Robbo. Berry. McLuggage
Cameron. Hippy. Rayner
Zorko. Mcstay. McCarthy

Martin, Lyons, Neale

bench -Big o , witherdon , Bailey , Ellis yolman

depth - Christensen, answorth,Robertson , e smith ,cox , starce , Joyce , t Berry, mathison , c Lyons , ballendeen , skinner , Paine , walker

to me makes perfect sense cutler and Taylor were given away we still have players who can play there roles who are younger with more upside, think our depth is pretty strong . Got walker Paine, skinner, balendeen , eagles in key position . Outside run with cox , Berry ,inside grunt with matho , Lyons , smith , Joyce . Christensen to cover as small forward . Having Zorko , McCarthy , Cameron and , Rayner in forward half would be very dangerous.

Reflecting on this further. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him stay rather then run the lottery of the draft.

For myself I see either Hawthorn (a Martin/Jagger reunion) at 11 or Geelong at 14/17 being the ones to pull the trigger on JM, they both love mature recruits. Richmond at 19 is another. There is no way SOSton will use pick 9 as it will just make him/them look like complete tools for blowing off pick 15 (more than usual anyways). No way he gets through to 43.

Look I don't want to be a Shane Watson here, but can we send this through to the third umpire?

We get a C+ for getting in CEY, & Birchall for nothing, & Ah Chee for a couple of future picks.

Norf get a C+ for bringing in Aiden Bonar (whilst paying him $500k a year from his GWS contract). That's it!!

C'mon now.

You forgot to include the Victorian club 50% loading. ;)

It's becoming apparent with each passing year that there's not much point going after anyone unless you really want them and they really want to come to you.

The Daniher situation is a classic . How much would you trust him at the Bombers over the next year whatever he does.

Neale and Cameron were our most successful pickups in ages . They both bought in .

So I think we're wise to sit it out and develop the guys that we have and if we're really successful again next year we'll still have the ammunition and room if a no brainer gun decides he wants in.

In essence nothing much has happened in this trade period because the desperate clubs can't really get anyone much to go there and the decent available players are too expensive. Except for Papley .Would love to have picked him up. What a complete **** up by the Blues.

Importantly nothing we've done will disrupt the harmony of our group,it's up to the guys in there to keep improving and a couple of our NEAFL guys to really kick on . I don't think CEY is any great boost but he can fill a role better than who else we probably have , Ah Chee an unkown X factor ,and Birchall not going backwards for the team if he's fit and firing.

Becoming quite clear club's are prepared to let guys leave who aren't stars for next to nothing. So many fairly decent players traded for such low picks. Salary cap at play here too I guess.

Salary cap is pretty key. Teams don't want to pay much for guys going to be in the seconds. They'd rather them be on someone else's books.

Daniher is a RFA at the end of next year. Dodoro's ****ed unless Joey gets on the ground, plays well and re-signs. Any two of the three or less and OUCH.

All the talk about Bell being an idiot he at least did a hard deal and let Hill/Neale go.
Bombers and Suns keep players who do not want to be there. Not sure that does anything for morale.
Yes do not just give them away. Although comes a time to cut your losses.
You think if Joe plays 2 games or something this year free agent they get nothing next.

How on earth does he grant the Saints an A .

They've got no draft picks and brought in a couple of has beens plus a potential gun or two , lost a couple of reasonable players, but the pickups still need to adjust to life as a St. Kilda footballer. Just don't see a lot of forward planning in that but obviously the Saints need to get into the top 8 to stay relevant.

Saints haul overrated IMO.

Hill, star. Ryder, done. Howard, solid but speculative. Jones and Butler, fringe players in a good team.

For Bruce, Steven and their entire draft hand for 2 years.

It just feels like they are selling hope for the sake of it.. doubt there will be a rapid improvement and IMO, its not the best step for where they are at.

Pick trading is still open. I imagine we'll probably still be looking to either bundle up some picks or move them into the future as I doubt we'll be delisting seven senior players.

Dons had every right to keep Joe. Swans didn't even put pick 5 on the table.

Had secret meetings, lured Joe out of the club, got him to go public then didn't come to the party for an in contract superstar.

So many teams chest beating and playing hardball for the sake of it. Pissing contest.

And Carlton.. my god. What a shit show.
