That's what we do here. And the reverse of it too - anything bad that happens to the club is Rosich and Lyon's fault :p
And it would be shocking management by Rosich to appoint a GM Football Operations and immediately undermine the Manager of Media.
Last camp video by Fyfe... queue outrage by some media git about him kicking a ball in to an elevator... lifts have feelings like cows you know?

http://www.fremantlefc.com.au/video/2018-12-18/fyfes-diary-last-day-of-camp

Having watched his videos and the other club interviews I think the camp was a great idea.
Yeah I like it .Focus is good with so many changes.

Of course it hurts if someone isn't focussing on one of the most critical positions in the club, a position they have just arrived in, and have no prior experience in.
You dont mind drawing a long bow that's for sure. Peter Bell explaining in a general meeting or two the modern media context in terms of what type of information is most useful from the media perspective is hardly losing focus on his main job. Considering the media department also has to get the information (that they release to the media) from the football department it certainly doesnt hurt to have Bell's media experience.

Oh that's totally different from crediting Bell with the changes in our media. It is also a *maybe*. And others may have ideas about how Bell might do his job, but he is the one as Manager who has the responsibility and earns the credit that comes his way as the decision maker.

I haven't seen anyone say that Bell designs the media program. What is likely is that he encourages a greater media presence and encourages the footy department to be much more cooperative. You read way too much into things, stuff that isn't there.

You have directly credited Bell, without any evidence at all.

Freo certainly seem to be more active than almost any other club in the media space since they got a footy manager who's just walked out of a role in the media.

Sure it may have nothing to do with Bell. In that case it's just a fairly significant coincidence.

There’s no point in trying to guess whether Peter Bell dips his toes into Freo’s media department.

Exactly. I think both opinions are possible. It is totally reasonable to put some of the media improvements on Bell since the improvements came at the same time as his appointment to the job and he obviously has a media background. However, it is not unreasonable to expect a footy media dept to make changes and evolve with the times. I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm going to guess that the FFC media team is aware of the internet and trends in how fans consume their news. They are doing what well seasoned media vets should be doing.

This has nothing to do with the footy department IMO. Marketing is all about social media these days and people/fans crave getting more access than ever. It gives the fans a chance to connect with the staff outside of the normal print/video journalism.

This is 100% the club’s marketing department, not the football department.

The difficult media outlets are basically 6PR, Hagdorn and channel Eagle. Have they changed?

What? Credited him with what exactly... designing the media program?

I've basically said it looks like Bell's influencing the media approach and that it would seem a coincidence that there's a huge leap in quantity since he's taken over the footy department.

You've illustrated the point exactly, you read way too much, just overlay whatever is in your head.

You clearly imply (without evidence) that the club is more active in the media space than any other club and that it is due to Bell.

Bell will have something to with media as hes general manager of footy. I imagine in managing footy position they decide whether media will have an impact on the players and so on. Plus he does a lot of press conferences and is a visible figure in Fremantle. Sure the social media department does all the hard work but if bell decided fyfes video diaries were an unnecessary distraction who do you think would win in the tussle over authority behind the scenes some media marketer or mr bell who's so mean he made Armadale residents straight laced individuals. Bells balls are so large their gonna be used in the demolition of subi. I would not be surprised if ben cousins gave up drugs if he asked. I am perhaps surprised by some on here questioning his greatness.
So in other words bells totally involved.:p

I don’t get this Bell credit for the additional media. It’s perfectly reasonable to think this is a deliberate strategy from the marketing department. It’s the off season where cricket, basketball and football normally is the talk of the town. By putting more content out there, it gives the fans to keep talking about Freo/football. With the platforms to get content out quickly (social media, the club’s website) I think people are a bit quick to credit Bell for having an influence on it. His job is footy operations, not marketing and media.

I would think it is very likely that bell has had a meeting with the marketing department to explain the way Fremantle is perceived in the media and to make a concerted effort to mend relationships and get on the front door with putting out content. It got quite prickly last year with Ross v haggers and Hardie etc.. and overall not having a good relationship with all media isn’t good for the club

Fyfe has contracts to do that stuff, probably negotiated by his management with media outlets. Bell cutting them would be a massive negative to the club.

This stuff is naive and silly.

Bell should be focusing on football issues and I am sure he is.

He studied Law, but he won't be running the clubs legal stuff. He commentated footy, but he doesn't run the media.

Or it could be like what one fo the journos said at training when asked about the greater access to the media. "It is the pre-season and they aren't trying to hide anything" or something along those lines. Let's wait until we get closer to the season proper before we start slapping people on the back.

Let's face it, We got a forward line in the off season, which is news. We got Bell, which is news. And WC were late returned for the pre-season, which is opportunity.

There is a simple fact about FFC media most may not be aware of or are overlooking.....
Freo now has a state of the art media production facility.
I was privy to a tour of the facility before a Freo moved in and the facts are there is a full scale media production studio.
Freo made no secret that they wanted to produce media for the AFL, hence this investment.

So instead of stringing together hypotheticals about this and that, facts are they are just utilising a resource at their disposal.

I just wish they’d release the around-oval camera footage they take of each session. They have 4 stations for video operators monitoring the fixed cameras plus others.
The cutting and editing is then produced for RTB in said production studio.
It’s bloody impressive to see, and as a fan - I’m just plain thankful for it !
