I know every teaam gets injuries but we lost a lot of games this season from injuries to some of our better players: Fyfe, Hilly, Tabs, Sandi, Logue, Billy, Sonny, Blakely, Bennell, Darcy. A better run next season should help us improve without including the additions in the trade and draft period.

hey, guys! in town for a few days and wondering how feasible it would be to get to the ETAF via public transport? and do they only do field work on mondays and wednesdays? thanks!

Where you come out from the bus station at Cockburn Central the road will do a loop. Go down either side and then at the bottom of the hill you want cross the road and keep going until you get to the ARC. When you get to the waterslide, turn left and you will come to the oval. Just follow the path around to the undercover area which is where we all congregate. Or instead of turning left you can keep going up to the main entrance and go through the inside if you want to go to the team store.

Overall, it should only take 5-10 minutes to walk there depending on how fast you walk.

There’s a bloke who I’m keen on seeing get a good crack at it and that’s TOM North. Hasn’t been much said about him but I reckon he could be a bit of a dark horse to come in and play a good role. Any training watchers have any feed back on how he’s looking? Cheers in advance.

If he gets himself right he will be pushing a few for selection..also interested to see how he is tracking

A big day in Cockburn for the new boys!
All of the lads strolled out early in their new gear and runners before being taken back into the rooms.
This provided the media with a great photo opportunity as, when they came back out together, shoulder to shoulder, it was a memorable sight.
The training watchers cheered and welcomed them as they began a kick to kick.
For watchers, it was a great opportunity to see their rigs and personalities close up.
Sturt is very thin and seemed quite shy. Can’t see him playing next yr but if Stephenson can at 52kgs then anyone can. Did notice he gives the ball a good thud when he kicks.
The Willy boys look ready to roll. Well built, confident and with noticeably good skills. Bewley’s long kicking looked great from the small sample he offered.
Carter is old news, we’ve seen him before.
Valente impressed me the most. Very well built, Taller than I thought and seemed very confident amongst the others. Surely gets the 29.
Watson is also very thin yet is a good height. Him and Sturt will become besties in the gym.
Overall the new boys didn’t really train. They just hung about like spare willys at a honeymoon, kicking and hand balling, posing for cameras.
Sonny still on a modified program with Tucker. Mundy and S Hill were pulled out to do extra running. S Hill does look slimmer and very fit. Cerra also doing his own thing after the warmup.
Fyfe was in and out of the warmup and then moved onto some solo running.
The big news is that after his usual stroll through the sand, barefoot, with a cocktail in hand, Jesse strapped his boots on and had a kick with one of the trainers. Was great to see.
Of the others, ‘twas good to see Ballas and Kersten out there as I didn’t see them last week. Swita is seriously quick.
Cam and Lobb really impressed me with their laser field kicking.
I left early however, Harley looked great and was involved in everything early. Has definitely dropped weight and definition. Hopefully this makes calves happy.
Look forward to hearing from others about how the match sims, fuller drills looked.

Champion! Cheers for the report!!!

Big group of Freo boys at the races incl Harley,so what
The guy you should be getting excited about is tabenar. From what I saw yesterday was the only big bloke doing sims with the small and mids was moving really well
Has to be some major concerns regarding when hogan will be right to go if he has only started on the weight free treadmill
Bennell looking good and as an independent observer thought Cam looked in better shape than last year
S Hill not joining in with main group is same as last year has he had a setback because he was doing nothing over 50% in his lap running. His lack of a pre season really impacted on his season this year
Tucker might have abducter issues hence the modified program
Lobb is a big unit looks to have decent agility
If Conca can address his biggest issue over his career to date I.e being able to hit a target he will be a solid performer for you guys

I think Hogan was only ever going to join training after Christmas, but we should take as cautious an approach as we can with him anyway. I’d rather he come back cherry ripe than risk reinjury.

When we traded in Hogan the navicular injury was the reason we went cold for day or two. Hopefully we will get the all clear and he can get back into training. But there is still a question mark, as you say.
I think Tucker had a foot injury in the last game of the season and was in a moon boot right up until the Doig.
Is Conca’s kicking as bad as you make out, or is it just typical BigFooty scapegoat mentality?

Conca is actually a decent kick over 45-50 typically at Richmond this was kicking to contest it is his inability to hit a target in that 15-25 range that will have you tearing your hair out. On a positive he seems to have overcome his soft tissue problems with his major injury last year being collision related

Sounds like a reverse Daniel Pearce. Daniel has seen to it that we have little hair left to pull out.

With the competition for spots now, Tabs has to make every post a winner.
I'm backing him coz he's been in the system 5/6 years now, he has to "break out" or he's gone!

I’m backing him too. The football he was playing before the foot injury last season would be good enough for best 22 at the start of 2019.

Taberner, McCarthy and Cox would be well aware that when Lobb and Hogan are fit and available there is really only one other spot available in the forward line. If early in the season Hogan is not available I think it is an ideal opportunity for them to lay the foundations for their claim on that spot. They would also be aware that Dixon and Sturt would like to have a crack within the next season, and they should be doing whatever they can to make sure it is not at the expense of their own claims.

I loved the reports of Lyon yelling at Duman to run off a "cooked" Dixon. When he started with us Lyon pumped up our strength, running and general fitness. In terms of our development, that time is approaching again.
