Not really a fair comparison. Their game styles aren't very alike.

Hollands is bordering on 6"3 and 85kg's and more in line with a Jordan De Goey type.

Rankine runs close to a sub 11 second 100m and is 75kg's wringing wet.

Rankine was always going to be a an even better version of Betts/Cameron style 50+ goal small forward with bursts in the midfield.

The expectation is that at worst Hollands is a De Goey style permanent medium forward ~ at his absolute zenith of his potential he's a Dustin Martin style midfielder.

I think most clubs would take that scenario for risk/reward.

Rankine certainly has Hollands for athleticism, Rankine has every player in the comp for athleticism in all honesty. I wouldn't necessarily say he has him for skill though. There's certainly some things Hollands can do on a football field that Rankine can't do because of his raw power and kicking penetration.
I ran 100m in 11 seconds when I was 16 and Rankine is shitloads faster than I ever was. I know there is at least one other member of this board that is that fast or faster too.

So, Braeden Campbell....Syd Academy.

Worthy of an early pick? Sydney are in an interesting position with him. He is one of the most talented players in this group, speed and ball use are really good. Could we somehow leverage their first pick from them?

We all know the swans aren’t going to the draft with pick 4 hoping no one bids on Campbell.
They’ll be concocting some dodgy plan.
Only leveraging I’d be interested in ,is we swap 1st rounders with them and they throw papley in.

Ah fk Pykie !! Now I'm back on the "All in for Hollands" bandwagon :D

Souup is correct though, there's plenty of question marks on him, even disregarding the ACL.

However, I guess that's the advantage of 2 first round picks. 1 can afford to be different or of higher risk.

For all we know, Luffy and Brady may rate McDonald the second coming of Nick Riewoldt and is #1 on the draft board, so it's all a moot point. There's plenty in contention.

Remembering that Luff is very analytical, Hollands doesn't jump off the page statistically because of the role he was playing as an underage player. Someone like McDonald with 3 x goals per game in the WAFL certainly would.

I intend to sit down today and go through all of GR’s Hollands’ and Phillips’ compilations.

But from what I’ve seen so far of course either one would be amazing, but Phillips just oozes Shinboner in a way I can’t shake.

2000's Shinboner or 70's and 90's shinboner?

He appears to be the safer bet.

I reckon hollands highlight vid smashes JDGs

I don't see too many similarities between De Goey and Hollands in how they get things done tbh. De Goey looked and played like a powerful, fast unit at U/18 and this translated to the AFL. Hollands looks like more of a smooth mover, more like a Wingard type for mine. But being 6'2/6'3 and 85+kgs will help him around the contest.

Can't remember his exact time, but he was running in the regional gift circuits in SA and was even considering the Stawell gift at one point I heard in his top age year.

The times I heard were high 10 seconds.

Whats relevant though is he also has the 3rd fastest agility test in the draft combines history.

He must place enormous pressure on his ankles & knees at times.

He's got sprinters hamstrings it seems, pretty much why he missed his first season of footy.

I get that he's more than just that, but he well & truly comes back to the field if he picks up any major issues with his legs.

Absolutely - From my perspective, we can't really lose with either Hollands or Phillips, and I'm comfortable with us taking either.

I've tried to list comparisons below (which I understand may not be entirely accurate), based on my understanding to illustrate the Risk v Reward of these two.

Phillips. Best Case: Tom Mitchell/Ben Cunnington, Worst Case: Dom Sheed/Tom Rockliff
Hollands. Best Case: Christian Petracca/Jordan De Goey, Worst Case: Jack Martin/Gary Rohan

No question there is a higher risk with Hollands, however if it pays off and we end up with a Petracca it's obviously worth it.

I think Hollands can be a lot better than De Goey, just quietly...

Yeah, I'd almost say De Goey is close to his floor based on JDG's current output.

It's weird as Psicosis has listed Jack Martin as his floor, yet Martin is arguably better than JDG these days.

15 disposals and 26 goals a year is almost what Cam Zurhaar put out last year.

De Goey:

I think Pykie was referring to levels of impact, and I agree with him with regard to the potential that Hollands has to impact results based upon those highlights. If he realises his talent, then along with Tarryn, we would have X factor up the wazoo in the forward line.

Right now you would take JDG, because he is proven.

I like it but with rampe now out plus hewett I'm more concerned maintaining the spot below them!
