In regards to trading Brown, anything less than Pick 5 or a young gun forward like De Goey is a no for me.
DeGoey is a risky proposition, on field I’d be playing him as a backman, ala hodge, just to get him fit and through a season. and that doesn’t include any off field stuff.
But if everything clicks for him, he could be anything.

Yes, I'm hacking and manipulating the biggest basketball statistics website on the planet to win a debate with you.

US sports salaries are publicized.

Sorry, you are wrong. You read online articles about his POTENTIAL earnings and take it as gospel.

You seem to think USA sports have a free ride, but miss the absolute basic difference and advantage Australian and AFL athletes have over them.

GUARANTEED CONTRACTS.

What did he earn in 2017 and 2018?

You love a good strawman when you blow your top, Pykie.

The AFLPA and the AFL care about fairness for players - regardless of if you do not. This is not the USA. This is not the NBA and NFL. When and if trading against player's will comes about, it will come at a significant price and only when the players, via the AFLPA agree to it.

Who cares? I cant find it but what does it matter if it's Bolden or any other player?

There's 568 basketball players in the NBA.

Of which 20 of them earn under $100k.

50 of them earn under $200k.

Fairly comparable to AFL considering we have 35% more players than them......

Where's these millionaires straight into the system that means we can't use their contract system?

Shaw was a wild child in his playing days.... I'm sure he can "get" de goey and reel him in somewhat

Not sure we can use that as a benchmark as that seemed a ludicrous offer.... and the fact it never came to fruition means always doubt that it was actually out there as a legit bid

yep that is what we want a ludicrous offer, we aint giving him away for peanuts

1. A fair chunk of those guys have earned upwards of a million prior.

2. The NBA salary comparison was in relation to your TT example - the top 30 pick salaries are set well in excess. You and I both know that in general American sports are paid exorbitantly more than the AFL.

3. I literally stated several times - which you appear to be deliberately ignoring - that I oppose trading said low salary players against their will.

4. Again, this all started because you rattled on about how AFL players don't deserve fairness when it comes to their working conditions. I was calling out your obsession with the American way of doing things, and that there is a 'wild west' over there - salary was but one part of a wider example that AFL players here actually have a smidgeon of power because the bargaining system is quite literally built on fairness. Like the AFLPA, I also do not think this is fair, and I don't think Tarryn Thomas earning 2 and a half grand after tax per week justifies shipping him off to WA next week if it suits us as a club.

Take a chill pill, take a break.

De Goey is a natural footballer who has showed up on the big stage. He can play Anywhere on the field, and would form an absolute monster duo with Zurhaar. Off-field issues could be resolved by joining a club with a more family friendly culture ala North.

Absolutely agree with all of the above..
But I do worry, he could be spending more time with Garner then Zurhaar, he has had a lot of soft tissue leg injuries already.

sometimes players like that just need to have the ball coming in front of them rather then, the short sharp changing of direction with a defender hanging off them while doing it.

I’d take 22 games of DeGoey playing behind the ball rather then the ? If he can make it through a season.

A guy like Bonar who seems to have put injuries as a junior behind him, and that we could get on the cheap, yes I'm behind that. bidding for de Goey, who's had a recent history of soft tissue injuries I wouldn't want to consider, as I'm sure the pies aren't going to give him up for a token pick like we got Bonar for.

Just look at what happened to Ben Reid, good player before, but cooked now because of those persistent soft tissue injuries. and like you said, we've already got our own experience with fragile hammies in Garner.

I think I'd prefer to see de Goey's court matters resolved before even considering taking him on

Bolden earned $1,698,450 from the 6ers this season. He was cut in Feb but he still received the full amount. He then signed a 10 day contract with the Suns. He got paid 80 old K for 10 days with them.

The salaries under 100k are 10 day contracts.

I agree with you though, trading players in contract.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's a qualified astronaut but decided to tell NASA to G&GF so he could plant trees.
No I just planted trees cos i liked it. Several million over the years. Would have been enough carbon stored in them to cover all of our (this boards) emissions for a while.

There are at least two people on this board that I went to school with and who both ran with the crusty old pro running coach (Sandy ??) who took Andrew McManus to a Stawell gift victory nearly thirty years ago. One of them posts regularly enough you'd recognise them immediately the other I haven't seen for a while. For all I know they can both run 11.0 for 100m. I know the absent one has. He was faster over 100 than I was. (Maybe not 400 tho.)

Point being Rankine should be running 100m in under 10.5 seconds at his peak. He won the Camden Classic as a kid before he was drafted. On a grass track he still went fast enough to break 11 seconds comfortably.

Can't remember his exact time, but he was running in the regional gift circuits in SA and was even considering the Stawell gift at one point I heard in his top age year.

The times I heard were high 10 seconds.

Whats relevant though is he also has the 3rd fastest agility test in the draft combines history.
Yeah that is scary isn't it.

Insanely fast straight line speed and agility.

The u15 school hundred metre record at my school was 10.8 when I was there, jointly held. The senior one wasn't much faster. I think one of those people represented Australia at a Commonwealth Games in the 70s so they were obviously good. If Rankine is pushing that he is gonna be very hard to catch if he gets the ball.

Ferbs you were motoring when you were 16, how about now ? Haha

Rankine I would say would be pushing to get 11 seconds for 100m based on the training they do for purely football.
But if trained for athletica may break 11.

I thought I was okay but wasn't even the fastest runner in my year over 100. That year it was someone who came second at the u18 nationals in 10.8 seconds. Came from Devonport to play u19s at *. We had a pretty good relay team tho.

It's a bit of a struggle to walk fast these days.

Rankine won theCambden off 7m in 12. Something seconds. I looked it up... So he would have got well under 11 on a proper track over 100m I reckon.

Yeah Tankin’ for Rankine was the go, as was atrocious for Lukosius.

I can’t find anything meaningful to rhyme with Hollands so I’m going with Shite for Mr Highlight.

Anyways.... How about the draft?

Who's in the 13-25 range for our D's pick?

On SM-G965F using BigFooty.com mobile app

Macrae, with a bit of luck.

how (why) do we pay BBB's salary when he's not contracted?
We are giving up one of our best players and have to pay for the privilege?

When is Joyce coming back? Soon please before we trade Jy for a kick up the bum and pay his salary as well.
