Elevate De Goey to the leadership group.

Thought he was outstanding last night.. and he's a good kid. He won't leave Collingwood.
Totally agree, his maturity is really starting to develop as a footballer.
I rate him as potential captaincy material in about 3-4 years.

Leads by example on the pitch.. never drops his head.. not a dirty player.. doesn't parade around like an idiot on the pitch.. well liked.. opposition players respects him.. pretty good presence when dealing with the media.. charismatic.. inspiring.. doesn't get flustered.

I don't see why he can't be captain one day.

Someone put up our current list the other day and suggested their changes, I can’t seem to find it atm

Wow 😮

Something we agree on

I wouldn’t mind looking at blokes like Andy Otten as KPD depth. Replace the likes of Dunn and Reid

You want to cut more than a quarter of our list?

I can see an argument for most of those, it’s true. But that’s a massive shakeup.
I agree it would be a massive shake-up but I feel it is what is needed. Why keep them when they can't get a game through form or in most cases injury.
Reid has played a total of 149 games out of a possible 305, with only 13 in the past 2 seasons
Wells has played a total of 258 games out of a possible 387, with only 4 in the past 2 seasons
Broomhead has played a total of 36 games out of a possible 132, with only 20mins in the past 2 seasons
Goldsack has played a total of 165 games out of a possible 305, with only 4 in the past 2 seasons
Wills has played a total of 9 games out of a possible 88, with only 3 in the past 2 seasons
Crocker has played a total of 26 games out of a possible 88, with only 13 in the past 2 seasons
Varcoe has played 40 of the past 66 games
Dunn has played 14 games in the past 2 seasons

I would prefer to have 8 players on the list that I could choose from

Curious what Elliott's numbers are. Another that needs to be moved on.

Let’s get rid of as many injury prone players we can.

Cash in in Moore now that he has some performances to drive his value up.

Let Elliott leave as an UFA and collect the compo.

Delist Dunn, Wells, Wills, Reid, Goldsack, Greenwood, Crocker, Appleby, Broomhead, Madgen and Murray.

Then load up on depth players who are durable and will actually be fit and available when we need to call up on them.

More than a quarter of our list don’t play anyways so it won’t make a difference.

Skills, pace and durability should be the main traits we look for when recruiting players.

No way we get rid of Crocker! Kid's a Gun! What games have you been watching?

Yeah there are quite a few of those to move on.

I'd keep Broomhead (I reckon last year would have been his breakout, before he broke his leg). Maybe Varcoe -- for experience and when in form he offers something (see last year's GF).

The rest, sure, though you don't want massive changes because it shakes up the list too much (perfomance = skill + experience (i.e. keeping a group together)). Sad to see Reid go (he's younger than Hawkins, as a comparison) and Wells (who showed in one half this year what he could do).

I definitely think we should be cleaning up the injury proned veterans, or anyone approaching the age of 30 that is on the fringe of selection.

I'm talking about Reid, Goldsack, Wills, Varcoe, Dunn, Wells and potentially even Greenwood.

Elliott should be on the trade table I think.

You would hang onto Darcy Moore though. Still very young and his body is still maturing.

I understand that we are shredding a lot of experience and depth, but the fact is that most of those guys haven't played barely any footy for us in the last 2 years anyway. Much better having younger talent on the list who are fit and raring to go.

The other thing is that we would clear up a fair bit of salary cap. Wells we know came on big money, but I'd dare say Varcoe is on decent coin as well considering we had to prize him out of Geelong. Greenwood wouldn't be on chicken feed either, while Reid and Goldsack wouldn't be on big coin, but still not minimum wage like a draftee or mature age recruit would be. The fact is you can recruit a mature age guy like Marty Hore was for minimum wage, and get more games and value out of him.

If we clear off the wages above, then that opens the salary cap up, and potentially gives up the option of making a play at a big name player.

Crocker would be a delist for mine.

I'd be hanging onto Daicos and Broomhead.

1. Suspect Goldy will want out anyway

2. Why the hell would Cameron want to come to Cwood?

3. Proper key forwards need proper entries / delivery - we ain't offering either
Why wouldn’t Cameron want to come? We are flag favourites with him. Also if we actually have a target down the line that that commands the ball we will get it in quicker. At the moment we are reluctant to pull the trigger as who have we got to kick to? Cox? He’s terrible

Not sure how one player (no matter how good) could make us flag favorites - this year or next - however this is an opinion board so happy to compare thoughts

Because with our list fully intact we are a top 4 side. You add Cameron the best tall forward in the game to a big area of weakness for us and we become a far more dangerous side

Don't think Elliott, Moore, Reid, Wells, Scharenberg will ever be "fully intact", add prob delistings - think our list will look quite different next year

We did pretty well with out Wells, Reid, Elliott and Moore last year. Reid and Elliott are both but part players now don’t judge them off their previous reputations

You would give Moore and Shaz more chance because they are still young. Moore I reckon is still very much growing into his body, and his upside is enormous. Potentially was the AA CHB until he got injured.

However, I agree that the horse may have bolted with Elliott. He is always going to have issues with he back, and his ongoing hammy issues will probably never go away. The other element is even if fully fit, could he ever reach the same heights as his body ages. He'd be on decent coin, so I wouldn't be against moving him on, even though it would be heartbreaking.

Reid, Wells, Goldsack and Dunn seem relatively easy decisions to move on at the end of the year. Varcoe hasn't been the most durable either, and is fighting for his spot despite been the wrong side of 30. I think if you are over 30 and struggling for a spot in the best 22, you are facing the chopping block.

It will once our membership drops by 10k next season.
It probably will drop by 10k, even more, the way things are unfolding

Our big improvements this year over last year were meant to be Moore, Elliott and Beams in. Mixed bag, fail and fail.
