2020 Draft and Trades Thread

Normal list size is 38 list, 6 cat a rookies and 3 Cat B rookies. It is possible to have 40 list and 4 cat a max. Based on the max numbers our 10 rookies is in theory 8 hence the 51 listed players
Yes, we already discussed this and I am not claiming your are incorrect as there is no official info but I did find 2 references including Boswell this week and both mention that SUNS had 10 rookies in 2020 (I assume the rookies means cat A). It appears that SUNS did have 40 players on the senior list in 2020. In your case, I presume they would say 8 (cat A) or 11 (cat A + cat B combined) rookies. I can imagine that AFL gave us 10 cat A concession + usual 3 cat B regardless of senior list spots (38-40).

FWIW, Kall Burns mentions on the Road to the Draft podcast Oct 23, 2019 that as part of assistance we can go in potentially with 50 listed players and will have 10 cat A and maxime them fully. Starting 11:45 min mark.

Yeah, going by the article in the GCB and talking about bring QLD kids into the system, it does feel like these rookie spots the AFL want the club to use for academy kids. And more than just 1 (given the NT kids arent in the academy, just in the "zone")
Then I would hope AFL can also give us extra money for a couple of welfare/development staff (I doubt that will happen). I guess it also depends how the reserve team will be set up.

“Geelong and Gold Coast are among the clubs believed to be in the mix for his services next season”.

We are back in the mix for for Brouch. And have the trade currency should the Crows decide to match.

wowee.

if that comes to fruition, really need to offload Brodie and his salary.
Fiorini can be depth

Anymore than 600k a year for Crouch now is overs! But the real question is why would be raiding bottom feeders like Adelaide and paying good money

You can keep him for anymore. Prefer his brother he is a much better player
You don’t watch enough crows games it seems. Brad Is the better crouch, I’d admittedly take either but Brad the more skilful, more damaging player. Matt just collects more stats.

Offer enough so you don't have to trade. Win win
Yeah, I am well aware that all Crows fans are dreaming about pick 2. Good luck. I would be very surprised is coke-tainted Brad will get more that 600-750K for 3-4 years offers. He is a good player but not elite. Personally, I am not too keen on him. Suns already got Greenwood who is as good as Brad and cost half.

Crows would be stupid to keep him. You don't re-build with a player who seems to care only about money. But hey, all power to Crows.

I am more interested what SUNS would be willing to trade Brad for. Who knows if AFL really wants to assist us they could give Crows pick 2 as compensation even if SUNS would offer only 700K. Nothing would surprise me as AFL does whatever they want. If compensation pick would be the end of the first round and Crows matched would SUNS be happy to give up pick 5? Again, personally, I hope not but would not kill myself as we get Davies and Jeffrey for free. I guess, we could split pick 5 and offer 11-15 pick or let Brad go to PSD and see if he lasts until SUNS pick.

I still think that Brad will end up with Cats.

Matt collects more stats cause Brad never plays on account of being injured

I wonder if that’s true or if they’re running out of teams to link him to and are just assuming we are still interested.

Either way, if he’s just chasing the $$$, then no thanks. For what he would cost, I don’t know if he adds enough of a difference in the middle. Plus he has played a full season once in 8 years.

Brandon Parfitt from Geelong still unsigned.
Though think he is close to re-signing.

Such a key player for the cats.
7 tackles tonight 14 touches. 11 were kicks.
He attacks and weaves his way forward. And if doesn’t have the ball he is attacking the opposition just as hard.

when he has a good game cats win.

would love him at the Suns.

There will be plenty of teams wanting to get into the top 6.
There are also quite a few teams needing points for NGA / academy this year, Adelaide also need points for next year.

If Thilthrope is still there we could trade that pick to Adelaide who would be desperate to get their hands on him.

Potentially we could do
Pick 6 (for Adelaide to take Thilthorpe) + a few late 2021 picks to Adelaide FOR a bunch of 2020 picks and a promise not to match on Crouch

We on trade those picks to the bulldogs / Collingwood who need points this year.
Could be used to acquire some best 22 players.

End up with B.Crouch, ?Mihocek, ?Mclean

Obviously so many moving parts with that specific thing unlikely. Just making the point that there are more options with pick 5 purely than a) use it ourselves and b) trade it for a gun player.

Just got busted buying drugs with a 21 year old player - Really with the young players at GC
9 years on a list 94 games total
$750k maybe more to move
Seems like more about Brad than about the team with his $$$ demands

Crouch definitely hasn't had a great few months.

Didn't hear you bringing up Broad's 'price' which seems to have priced him out of Richmond AND the suns. Also his distribution of naked photos of a woman without her consent.

I think certainly in society, you could argue that is a worse act than being caught with drugs. I know which one my partner would consider more despicable.

Interesting hearing some on here dont want crouch. Look at 3 of the teams being mentioned who are keen on him, port, geelong and Richmond. All 3 played in prelims this week and have much stronger midfield than ours. That's why these teams continue to be successful, they identify the good players who are gettable from other clubs and they bring them in. Sometimes it means another player gets pushed out but so be it. I'd still prefer a treloar/merrett type but crouch is good and we may still keep pick 5.

Let's not pretend this was stengle's first time doing coke and it was brad who introduced him to drugs. 2 team mates, end of season, a little careless/unlucky to be caught on cctv and then chased down by the cops in a taxi.

And wasn't she a stripper?

I'm not gonna fake outrage on either of those twos character.

It’s been done before, mentioning us to jack the price up.

I really Like the suns list currently. Crouch would only help that midfield. Treloar probably a better player head to head but is older, will cost more draft capital and cost more coin. A value mid like crouch keeps you coin to spend on the kids. Improve next year (Make finals) and all of a sudden the free agents of next year wanna come as well. It’s a perpetual cycle. Success breads success. I would know, we haven’t had any in 20 years. Best of luck suns 🌞🌞
