2020 Draft and Trades Thread

Interesting hearing some on here dont want crouch. Look at 3 of the teams being mentioned who are keen on him, port, geelong and Richmond. All 3 played in prelims this week and have much stronger midfield than ours. That's why these teams continue to be successful, they identify the good players who are gettable from other clubs and they bring them in. Sometimes it means another player gets pushed out but so be it. I'd still prefer a treloar/merrett type but crouch is good and we may still keep pick 5.

Every time I've heard crouch speak in the media he seems just a really down to earth decent guy. Yeah he has stuffed up recently but the only thing different to him and so many other players is that he got caught. Hopefully he realizes that a footy career is short and he doesn't go down that path again. Agree that francou and kaesler would have a good idea whether he is a good fit or not

As a part time Gold Coast fan and full time crows fan I can get on board Brad Crouch going to the Sun's for a band 1 compo contract.
He's a gun when fit and the Sun's need to start winning no more 18 year olds is going to fix that in the next 12 to 24 months.

A key defender could be sought through trade using Will Brodie currency.

All of a sudden midfield of Witts, Crouch, Greenwood, Ellis, Rowell, Anderson, Ainsworth and Swallow should be top 8.

Just need forward line and half back lines to click.
Rankine needs to lift next season.

Not sure I've seen many slow midfield groups in the top 8 at the moment..

Agree with your sentiments re: forward line. Back line was pretty solid this year.

Thanks. My days of being out after dark in licensed places are pretty much finished now.
A late night scotch watching a Suns/Titans replay after a win in my lounge room after the family have all gone to bed is about as wild as it gets for me these days.

Likewise......but I don't need a replay to indulge....nor do I need to wait for the family, as it's only me and my wife, now that the kids have all gone to their various Universities, and are residing there.......

Every year I do not understand this trade system where the player nominates a single club. It destroys the bargaining power of the club the player is cutting And running from.
It’s such a flaw.
There are two possible fixes
1-you can only nominate clubs that finished below your club on the ladder OR
2-you can only nominate the State you want to be traded to

Captain Bedwetter
Daniher nominating BrisC
And Cameron the Handbaggers.
Do your job Gil. Hopeless.

As much as i hate them you have to give it to Geelong at how well of a run club they are. The consistently get players of note wanting to go there and get the most out of there picks and players. They have been a good team around the pointy end for over a decade. Incredibly well run

To be honest if the AFL wanted to add equality to the competition they would make it that a Free Agent couldn't go to a top 4 club from the current year.

Those top 4 teams should have to trade for free agent players and give up some of their draft capital, rather than being able to stay up for decades by being able to recruit players without having to give up draft assets.
