I’m optimistic though about him.
Got to find the diamond in the rough somewhere.

Yes. just not a good option. Rookie up.Is Vandenberg an option for F5 to make quick cash?
His score is inflated due to having played midfield last season as a result of injuries to many of their midfielders (Ward, Coniglio, Kelly etc.)
Still think he's a decent pick - will just be inconsistent due to playing that small forward role. Also tends to miss games every season due to injury or suspension.
85-90 would seem about right, assuming he’s fully fit to start the seasonNot sure how you got that number? 89 is the number I got which includes finals - which are harder to score in.
If you take his average from the bye rounds he averaged 95.5.
Since 2014 his averages are
2014 - 83 over 22 games (GC Finished 12th, 93%)
2015 - 89 over 20 games (GC Finished 16th, 73%)
2016 - 93 over 22 games (GC Finished 15th, 78%)
2017 - 85 over 19 games (GC Finished 17th, 76%)
2018 - 78 over 12 games (GC Finished 17th, 59.9%)
The fact he averaged what he did at the Gold Coast for so many years considering how bad they were is amazing.
I'm liking his chances of going at least 90+ this season.

Also, I'm lead to believe Champion Data have introduced a 'Total Cockbiscuit' handicap system this year. The list is still to be finalised, but at this stage Toby Greene, Jack Riewoldt and James Sicily will all start each game on -30.
YeeepppStarting to really warm to MPM in the fwds this year. Seems to be the best opportunity for cash gen in a year where it looks like it'll more difficult than ever
Yeeeppp
Mine will either be:
Whitfield + 3 or 4 mid-pricers + rookies
or
4 or 5 mid-pricers + rookies
Who is your current F5-F8?I have completely the opposite strategy - Heeney F3 Hill F4. I might go down to a midpricer if I'm desperate for rookie funds but right now I'm probably okay in that regard.
Lock him in for AA and 50+ goalsCharlie Cameron anyone??
Who is your current F5-F8?
Of the 7 names you mentioned, I think we'll be lucky to get 4Cameron Xerri Davis Budarick.
Rankine, King, Hosie etc all waiting in the wings.
Might not be training at the moment as he is probably trying to get his stolen Merc back.Charlie Cameron anyone??
I currently have 5 from that list. This year is really weird, i think there are so few premium forwards that can be trusted and equally so many mid-pricers that seem to have potential.I know we say this every year, but the forward mid-price crop this year seem like the strongest we've had for a while. Probably also because the forward premos come with question marks and the forward rookies seem weak
De Goey - more time in the middle, will still kick goals
Dawson - plays all over the field, racks up big numbers, kicks a lot
Parish - more midfield time, another preseason
Greenwood - new team, major midfield role, tackle machine
Gresham - more midfield time, another preseason
Petracca - finally looks fit, major midfield role
Rozee - more time in the middle, will still kick goals
Ceglar - impressive scores when rucking alone, cover for Grundy/Gawn
Wingard - more time in the middle, will still kick goals
Lynch - great end of 2019, good early run with games at the G, plays for the best team
McDonald - finally fit, good scoring history, has huge scores in him
Acres - permanent wing role, should get big disposal numbers
Smith - fallen premo, if he stays fit he'll average 90+
Some would argue there's a couple more
You look at the top few and they only need to increase their average by 5-10 to be a success. Obviously if you're paying $400k+ you're basically stuck with them for the year

It's a weird one. Realistically a top 6 for FWD's come seasons end could consist of Whitfield, Martin and then just at random Petracca, Parish, Greshem, Greenwood. But aside from the first two nobody is a lock. It feels like there are 15 other blokes along with them who could justifiably be a top selection and picking one now feels like a lottery.
At least in defence if you were allowed to pick 6 premiums straight up you can't go too wrong with Lloyd, Williams, Sicily, Laird, Docherty and Houli.

Same can be said for forwards.
Whitfield, Dusty, Walters, Heeney, Greene. Pick someone out of the list you mentioned and that 6 to finish the year would be close to top strength.
Slightly disagree. Walters has only had one exceptional season and is generally injury prone. Same can be said for Greene and his role at GWS is never guaranteed because of that deep midfield.
I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one of Heeny, Walters or Greene suffer either an injury affected season or go backwards from their best scoring years. Feel as though there are more safe selections in defence but not as much value. Opposite for the forward line.
Greene will be top 6 forwards year in year out no matter what his role is at GWS.
But you disagree with me about the forwards I list and potential injuries then cite Williams, Sicily, Docherty and Houli as players you reckon will be top defenders.
Umm ...
Just have a check of everybody's teams currently. Some very different forward line structures and make ups. Lot of question marks over the right way to approach it this season.
Not as many question marks over the defensive line. Doc is in most teams. At least one or two of the others in D1 and D2 for most people.
