Didn't a Carlton fan start one about us though? I thought we were petty enough to start one too.

Just looked through it then, don't go through the MB often. Pretty weird seeing a Carlton supporter of all people make a thread like that. Their recent track record with coaches isn't great and their list has developed rather slow.

Seriously, what is the exact point of issuing fines of less than $1000 to players as a result of striking charges?! For a player such as Toby Greene, that quantity of money is going to do about as much to Toby's attitude, as picking up a single piece of litter on Clean up Australia Day, will do for the planet!
Sometimes I wonder about the "brains trust" at AFL HQ - simply mind boggling!!!

Anyway, what is going on with Polec? Apart from him having a face I'd kind of like to punch, it seems outrageous he isn't getting a game.

From the games I have seen he has been solid, I would go as far to say he was good. If they ship him off and oay part of his salary it makes our list management look acceptable.

I can't remember why they ever got rid of that points system, where you accumulated points over a ?two year period for each misdemeanour and when you reached a threshold you lost a game even if your last offence was minor. Is it time to revisit it? Lynch is making a mockery of the system at the moment and Greene is no better

Yea it was round 1

There are 27 fit players and yet Polec doesn't get a game. There might be tension between him and Rhys.

There where too many examples where meat headed former players in the media were deeply offended saying "surely that isn't worth a week" ignoring all the history and focusing on the one final straw that broke the camel's back.

Just like that three strikes for a suspension policy that was great until Cotchin punched someone, Lachie Neale I believe, and ended up getting a week for it. "that's not work a week!"

There was also tension over the early guilty pleas knocking off quite a bit of time in the big suspensions.

Ultimately I think removal of the points system actually served to give the AFL better ability to keep suspensions to a maximum of eight weeks.

They aren't in the business of keeping their star players out of the game but if the points came back at 10 games and his bad record added 20% more then he is spending 12 weeks on the sidelines. They can't get around it. Now the severe cases go to a panel with lots of wiggle room.
