At a point now where I'm tired of chopping and changing. I think I'll call it here and keenly await the MCS for more clarity.

Here's my current side, feedback appreciated. :thumbsu:

Similar structure to mine atm, I've gone more mid-priced in the forward line to spread the load. Interestingly I have only 12 of your squad in my team.
lots of options about it seems.

That's the thinking that honestly has me looking at Naismith, now that my Lycett pick has fallen through. Even if he averages 60, if Jacobs goes 80, it's not really worth sacrificing the chance to have a top line mid for a speculative ruck.

Still considering ROB for R2, but despite his awesome year, it's still a lot to ask of essentially a second year player at a very hefty price. Everyone else - Marshall, Martin, Goldy, Witts and Gawn, all have question marks.

Looking to keep some cash to upgrade to English after a few rounds, as I think he'll be the 'breakout' ruck this year. High disposal winner, plays like a mid, has put on significant size and will basically have the ruck role to himself. Marsh will be interesting.
What do you mean Lycett has fallen through? He's been on my radar too

Or just go a cash grab from ROB to English if things don't work out?

I'd like to go a little more unique as MCS gets started because while I'm happy with 5 players under that 10% mark, it's still very vanilla. Hence why I'm happy to share my team now while prior to the real stuff I'll be unseen in this thread :p

What do you mean Lycett has fallen through? He's been on my radar too

PAFC27 said the other day that Lycett said in an interview that he'll be 'playing more forward at times this year.' Sounds like a Hinkley special, where they're looking at giving Hayes a shot and playing Lycett forward given the departure of Ryder and the vacancy of that FWD/RUCK role.

That was a thought and still is, but I'm still not entirely sold that ROB at 709K is the best investment given the small sample size we have. If he dominates during the Marsh series, then that's probably the route I'll take. Otherwise, seriously considering just working my way up from Naismith, to English and then seeing how I go. Still early days though...

He specifically said he'd like to be playing alongside Ladhams. But also mentioned Hayes has been great this preseason.

You put it fantastically. A Hinkley special. And to pay homage to the Port board of the past 24 months...SACK HIM!!

He's second only to Beveridge and Horse when it comes to shitting us all up the wall with all their positional switches. It's impossible to pick one of Rocky, Boak, Gray, Ebert etc. in the mid/fwd line given just how schizophrenic he is with his forwards and mids 😆

At least Bevo and Horse can coach though. Hinkley is some bloke whose better suited to the front row of the local TAB. Ironically Ive seen him multiple times at the Semaphore UBet

I reckon he's just been there too long, IMO. When he first came across to you guys from us, he was fresh and his game plan was fast and attacking. In 2012-2014, you guys were one of the most exciting teams to watch. Now, you have this weird defensive game that sometimes goes attacking and then reverts. I reckon the more youth you guys inject, the better you get. Still need less players like Rocky and Motlop, and more like Rozee, Duurs, Dylan Williams etc.

Reckon 2020 is his last chance, then you get a new fresh coach in and really hit the draft hard next year and start afresh. Still can't understand why you got rid of Sam Gray and why you guys went hard for Rocky, Motlop, Lindsay Thomas, Watts, Sutcliffe, and even Buzza. Just seems like he overestimates where you guys are at, and isn't assessing the list on its merits.

My current team.

Defenders: Happy with them but will need to see how they play in the preseason.

Midfield: No ubers here but I think everyone can go 105+. Every year I get burnt by midfield premiums. My main concern is two St Kilda mids but both should score well if let loose. Preseason will likely change my line up.

Ruck: Think I have the top 2. Gawn has had the injury scare so he wont be in my team.

Forwards: Basically have to pick breakouts. Poor available rookies has pushed me to spend more to field more expensive players.

He was good in his first year because they had Walsh and Richardson running the show.

Since then, it's been Captain Kern holding the reins and the performances have followed.

If they don't make finals again this year, Kocky has said he's gone, so expect a bit of desperate yo-yoing come the 2nd half of the year if things aren't looking promising

I need one premo mid for my last spot.

Crae - feel he is #1 with his ceiling, but ownership is high and alao have Dunks

Danger - upside, but hate the Drama.

Treloar - need him in my team asap, but feels a little boring

Cripps - lots of upside...if he plays well. BE 101. I should just take the gift right?

Zerrett - just gets the job done each week, but doesn't have a great ceiling

Jelly - most $$$ for a reason. Even his bad games are 110 and tops 120 often. Is he over his injuries? A nice POD

Oliver, Gaff, TT, Matt, Brad....

Help!

Mate that is like splitting hairs with some of those, real tough call. I feel like a lot of people are sleeping on Zerrett, a lock for 100+ just about every week. Treloar is consistent as, 18/22 100+ last year. Macrae feels like a must, but I reckon Dunkley can match him tbh. Josh Kelly will average 115-120 but will miss games. Dangerfield will go around 110 which is top 8, but I expect he’ll cop a lot of attention this year with no Tim Kelly. Cripps gets tagged too often imo to be a true top 8 mid

So, your vote is...Zerrett?

Iv started Zerrett the past 2 years and he has burnt me badly both times. He averages well but just has a shit game early which forces me to play catch up the whole year.

He was also booted from the leadership group so that may be a good or bad thing for his scores.

First 3 scores
2018: 23, 78, 69
2019: 50, 99, 95

I had him last year and then ditched him (not Brayshaw) after rd 1 for Rocky

Tale of my year

One I've been looking at, and especially with the injury to Wines, is Boak. Ability to go big, and decently priced. Also consider TT as he's apparently even fitter this year, and would be truly unique.

If you're looking for a guaranteed scorer, I'd go Treloar. I wouldn't call him boring either, cause he can go 150+ and will score 100-110 most weeks. Very reliable

I currently have Macrae due to his ceiling and durability. Also have Dunkley. Feel like Bonts is tag target number 1 week in week out.

Macrae does feel a little boring though. Is you believe Kelly can stay on the park and the fact that he is having a proper pre season for a change then he would be the clear pick. But it’s a big if as to whether he can stay on the park.

Zerrett I think is the perfect upgrade target due to his bye. But means he will be somewhat unique.

Treloar/Danger both seem safe as houses. One for consistent scores and durability. The other for those two things and a little upside potentially. Although you’re right, tags could be an issue and he is post 30 now.

I think you can take a risk considering you have Oliver and Gaff as others mids which should be good for 22 games each at 105 average minimum.

Curious that none of the crows boys interest you. M crocuh

Settled on my version 1 of 300, my team is very much built around the big mids (much like the majority of teams I've seen). Quite a lot of risk around the rest of the ground but it seems to be pretty slim pickings. Thinking of removing Whitfield as a bit of a POD and to free up some cash.

Any feedback welcome :)
