I have watched all North's games this year and Brown has had a shocking year. He is scoring at Dan McStay's rate and contesting like Schache. The one thing that Dan does well in most people's opinion is that he contests while Brown has always been a lead and mark player. Dan, IMO, doesn't get enough easy kicks and that's all Brown gets.

The Doggies won't offer Schache another contract so let's go after him (5th round pick) and change his name to Brown.

Part of me would love for us to take Schache back and for him to come on, win the Coleman and Bailey win a Brownlow. The ultimate trade 😂

Considering how badly we're kicking at goal, partly due to taking difficult shots, that says something for the idea of a leading forward who is able to get himself into position for easy kicks.

Only problem with that is we constantly miss hit up targets up forward. It isn’t just our goal kicking that is ordinary, field kicking into the forward line is also an issue. Thoughtless bombs to the pocket, even when clear.

Just wish we could be more proactive at times eg. Starc last week took the game on & places a 50 metre kick to Hippy’s advantage. Not a bullet, not towards the pocket, just a well placed kick to the forwards advantage. Goal. Not that complex.

This is what we were hoping Ah Chee could provide off half back. Hopefully after finding some confidence or swagger he can return to the backline and bring the same attack and flair

Rich also does it well

I have always thought that Cameron Zurhar, the bloke who missed and kicked those late scores, would make a good line breaking defender. He ran past Eric easily and pushed off Zorks, a harder job, and would be a upgrade on several of our fringe defenders. Don't think North would part with him.

A possible red herring? What would we give for Goldy?

one Word. Sums up this player @ 27 underwhelming

i will direct quote Fagan,

Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan says Cam Ellis-Yolmen not 'good enough' after pre-season axing.

Brisbane Lions recruit Cam Ellis-Yolmen has been given a harsh dose of reality from coach Chris Fagan after he was dropped for the Lions' second pre-season match.

Ellis-Yolmen has been axed for Deven Robertson, and Fagan explained why the former Crows star was on the outside looking in.

"His form just hasn't quite been good enough," Fagan told reporters.

"It just shows that just because he's been recruited to the club doesn't mean you're going to walk straight into the side.

"You've actually got to earn your spot. So he's aware of that.

with hard nut Robbo‘s body and age starting to show signs , i suggest we look to the future, with age profile ,similarities to our beloved Robbo. I suggest if we get an offer on cam ellis -yolmen Take it and go for A player with More upside and younger.sam powell-pepper.

Sam Powell-Pepper is a big-bodied midfielder from West Australia. Debuting in Round 1, 2017 against the Swans, he was nominated for the NAB AFL Rising Star in his first game. BACKGROUND Powell-Pepper was drafted to Port Adelaide from East Perth with pick No. 18 in the 2016 National Draft. TIMELINE 2017 In his first year, Sam Powell-Pepper looked right at home.

No team is going to make us an offer for CEY.

SPP will re-sign soonish with Port.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see us go after an unrestricted free agent.
Got a name?

Looking at the list on the AFL site, apart from our own, there’s no one I’d consider.

Unless we’re dipping back in to the Hawthorn well, then Isaac Smith is a maybe.

one thing afl has taught me,is that until he signs anything is possible then even if he signs, anything is still possible.i look at players who have bleed for their lions jumper, colan, pert ,voss, roos brown, black, lappin etc etc.It would be disingenuous of me to think that CEY is worth 2 1st Round draft picks.I Personally, would rather accept pick 100 , if in fact that was all that was on offer for CEY and pay some of his salary if it meant that I can get someone in,who Fagan can nurture and model into Robbo 2.0 and at his very best can be a good contributor and an asset to the team rather than a liability. Correct me if i am wrong but Ellis-Yolmen is 27 and spp and is 22 .SPP is, I believe, not only a better player with way more upside but also has a longer career ahead of him barring injury/motivational issues, so he can grow up with an outstanding group of youngsters. I believe these 2 factors alone make spp a compelling argument for an attempt to pry him away from port.Ellis-Yolmen I personally feel has taken things for granted and is just coasting along at 27 ,he should know better and realise to play at the highest level is something that should always be cherished and to never ever be taken for granted. He owes this ,not only to the club that gave him an opportunity To play at the highest level but to all the Lions supporters who love this fantastic club.

We have a no d!ckhe@ds policy. That rules SPP out.

If there is scrutiny to be given to CEY I dont think it should come now after a brief dip on the back of the two short breaks. Im willing to bet he consolidates his best on his return but also the coaches are being very clear that if we dont get it he cant expect to command a spot.

you might have said that about Robbo , i know i did,i guess you might owe Robbo an apology,i certainly do.Robbo was classed as a d.ckh..d , but at least he Had Two balls ,to prove both of us wrong.

CEY has played what, 3 games. In a strange season.

I'm not drawing any conclusions on him at all

i accept your opinion, but we are talking about a 27 year old, who should know what the expectations of him are And has been in the system long enough to know his career depends upon giving 100 % If he was younger I.e 22 -23 i would wholeheartedly agree with you but the sad fact he is not and younger ,hungrier Players are knocking at his door.

It’s questionable whether we know his ceiling or not. He’s struggled with injuries his whole career. If you don’t like the guy just come out and say it rather than come up with vague criticisms in a season where all players are down due to the COVID break. Also who is hungrier right now who players the same role? If there was someone they would’ve been put into the team by now.

If he has the same issues next year then you will have a point, but for now the club will stand by our players, even the ones who are struggling, because of the nature of the season.

i will make it clear do not like what he brought to the team.i did not want him at the club to begin with.

I’ve never said anything bad about Robbo.

SPP is not a smart footballer, and his kicking makes MRobbo look like Birchall.

I’m agree it would be good to have an upgrade on CEY. I was never keen on his signing in the first place, and agree with much of your observations of him.

However I strongly disagree that we should target SPP as a replacement.

Personally I believe Berry snr should be playing that role in our midfield, with Robertson in the team as well.

As for potential trade targets, I haven’t had a look to see who is out of contract and who appeals.

Ely Smith is another who could play that inside brute role. Dude is a beast

Could he? Haven’t heard or seen anything and he wasn’t really showing much towards the end of last year. Is he a ‘development’ player? I just would have assumed that someone who you paid a late first round pick would have shown something by now. I am not so sure about Ely however would love to be wrong.

can u help me out here. I was thinking of ely or dev. But there is absolutely nothing on who is playing well in the practice matches. Can u pls help us out?
I don’t believe that’s Dev’s game. I think he’ll be a Neale type player with Selwood type leadership mixed in, once he matures.

Ely I’m not sure if he makes it.

Cam McCarthy has just quit Freo - have no opinions either way on him other than I remember he was someone that GWS did not want to let go of earlier in his career.

Mental health has ruined his career. How he gets healthy and gets another chance.
