Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
Trading next years 1st into this year makes sense.. if we ended up with say Callaghan and Roberts.. geeezuz, that would be awesome.
I’d also like to see us make a play for the Suns 1st this year.. but they have said they are willing to trade it for a gun KPF.. we havent got one of them we are willing to trade.
everyone keeps talking about Sloan giving up midfield minutes for our young mids but what about Keays and Laird too? Keays played a lot as a fwd at Brisbane and Laird obviously a lot at half back. There is a lot of scope for all our senior mids to be shifted to get some more midfield minutes into the kids. The Clarkson quote you threw out earlier says it all. If you retain the senior guys it's easy to play them.
The cold reality is if we want our kids to get midfield time, Matt Crouch needs to go. Not because he's a bad player, but we've locked up all of our major midfield positions until we're ready to move Sloane on. People live in this nice fantasy world that form in the 2nds mean anything for a youngster breaking into our senior squad, and a kid can overtake a senior player. It frankly doesn't. Where you sit on the pecking order means everything. That's not an Adelaide thing either. That's a league wide thing. Effectively If you keep the roadblock, you're not playing the kids.
Coaches have players they trust to keep them their jobs after all.
The single worst move Adelaide could do at this point is resign Matt Crouch. If we wanted to keep him, we should not have resigned Laird this season. Otherwise we're hoping to be saved from ourselves with one of them (or Keays) gets injured. It's the only way Berry, Schoenberg, Pedlar etc will see significant midfield minutes.
Totally agree, Sloane only goes in if the other teams get a big run on, there needs to be that other time for our youngsters. That’s the only way to develop them and give them some confidence in the centre. If there are 3 CBA spots up for grabs (totalling 300% available CBA time) I would be doing the following:
1. Keays and Laird taking 75% of the CBAs, totalling 150%
2. Berry, Pedlar and Schoenberg splitting as much of the other 150% as they can manage
3. Any residual CBAs (eg a few a game) go to Sloane
4. But never intentionally have all of Sloane, Keays and Laird at a CBA together
Sloane is perfect for a HFF. HFF is usually a dead spot - so hard to play. But he and Berry are naturals there.
Sloane's kicking for goal seems to be much better than his field kicking too.Sloane is perfect for a HFF. HFF is usually a dead spot - so hard to play. But he and Berry are naturals there.

Look, I think that was true at periods - but by the end of last year Matt (and many others) started to get a clearer sense of what Nicks demanded for quick ball movement.
Pity we haven't been able to see whether that would have continued this year.
I wish we would try mchenry as a pure tagger. Is super fit, very annoying and has that mongrel about himSince adelaide flat out refuse to tag, surely Sloane could put his hand up to shut down the oppositions play maker. Invariably there is always one player who absolutely crushes the crows. I understand coaches don’t want to lock on an opposition midfielder as it detracts from their midfield systems etc, but surely he can look to shut down the half forward that always takes kelly/mackay to the cleaners or the half back that is racking up 35 uncontested touches.

It's not being played as Champs game though. It's being called a "challenge" game whish is tricked up trial game with nothing on the end of it.View attachment 1172991
Teams for tomorrow’s game via Ed’s thread
VC seem better on paper to me, but it’s always hard to predict champs results

Vic Metro was due to travel to the Gold Coast this week to take on the Allies to open this year's delayed NAB AFL Under-19 Championships but with COVID-19 restrictions the AFL chose to postpone the beginning of the carnival.![]()

Yeah for some reason I thought it was replacing the Vic M vs Allies game, which is rostered as a champs game. My badIt's not being played as Champs game though. It's being called a "challenge" game whish is tricked up trial game with nothing on the end of it.

That would make sense ! Seems like they are committed to somehow having a full champs for all states which might be impossibleYeah for some reason I thought it was replacing the Vic M vs Allies game, which is rostered as a champs game. My bad

Is it just me or does it feel like the chasing pack is starting to make a bit of ground on Horne in terms of draft stock?
I'm not saying Horne's dropping, just that the perception around the players beneath him may be improving at a slightly faster rate
