Paying that price for a bloke who was never a top five player who had never played for a top 8 club was madness.

Particularly given he had experience and it wasn't a bet he'd improve.

Intriguing. Blues want him to stay, but a deal with Adelaide would help them get Caleb Marchbank and a few other Giants. Crows have offered pick 13 and Rory Atkins or Jarryd Lyons, which Stephen Silvagni has rejected. "SOS" wants Charlie Cameron instead.

SOS and Carlton really were dcikheads for rejecting that deal - pick 13 AND Lyons. Lyons would be one of their best players now and for the last couple of years and probably helped add a few extra years to Cripps by chopping out with the contested ball

Peoples views on '18 could change quite a bit in the next few years. Hopefully they do.

Was thinking about that (plus Milera back too) and wondering if our thinking is that dynamic, skilful mids are like hen's teeth and super expensive.

Are we trying to put together a workmanlike midfield who wins their share but is tasked with distributing it to the wingmen, half backs and outside players?

Schoenberg is one. Pedlar might be another. Definitely is dynamic, but jury is out on how skilled he is.

Definitely needs more though.

Even 3/5 looks ok, if Sholl and Butts (who we took in the rookie draft), end up living up to their potential, and McHenry wedges himself as a long term player (which he seems to be doing at the moment).

its raynor vs LDU plus whatever you give up to move up

the three players you meantioned weren't even taken at 1 or 4..

Mini me of his brother, very similar play style . Not as dangerous up forward yet but a very smooth and smart midfielder.

I kind of struggle with the step to include him as a part of our 2018 haul, seeing he was initially with GWS.

I hope he does, and if he does, he also doesn't leave it too late.

In Rozee's case it looks like injury management will play a big part.

Really poorly TBH .....obviously talented, but he appears to have a body that's not putting on any size .....and that will restrict his ability to play a lot of midfield ....and probably restrict him to playing wing

There's a few similar with body shape .....Cerra at FREO , and Dow at CARL in a similar boat ....then there's his body's propensity to injury

I wouldnt.

Id take king over Walsh
Id take LDU over Raynor

But yes, Id take Rowell over Ash.. although is Rowell’s body up to it?.. and Ash isnt looking bad at all!.

But you also need to need to take into account what you miss out on by giving up draft capital to move up to that pick 1..

For example... Youre not just getting walsh over King.. to get walsh you have to give up King AND something else.

You can have all the talent in the world but if you’re lazy or have the wrong attitude you’ll still fail.

Rozee has injury issues though so thats probably more to blame for his current form than that he has simply regressed since his first year..

Not sure this statement holds up under the spotlight. Talent isn't a direct precursor for success! Its an extremely important ingredient, but plenty of very talented players don't have success at the AFL level.

Rozee is a case where there's no reason to believe he won't succeed, but he's also still only 47 games in. In 10 seasons time he could be closing in on his 300th, or playing 3rd division in the SAAFL with his mates, or even sitting at a bar pounding pints and talking about the good old days (we've all seen shockingly young ex AFL players doing just that).

Just have to wait and see.
