Imo, we are over the moon we took thilthorpe and i have no doubt you guys are quite happy with getting phillips. Sydney 'might' be the worry if WCE and Freo come hard for mcdonald but he was a bonus as they got campbell in the same draft

Yeah it’s difficult to know, because some players leave their home state on draft night and never return, others leave. I personally think regardless you guys made the right decision with Thil, who was the best of the KPP after Jamarra IMO. It’s just a benefit that he’s from SA.

Worth mentioning that Norths recruiters also said that they are hesitant to take KPPs early in the draft due to risk. That being said all the keys taken early last year look excellent, but it’s a concern I personally share.

4, 2022/1 to GC for 3, 19, 2022/2 (GC don't need all these picks)
GC 2022/2 for Dawson
19, 23, 37 (or Kelly compo) to Pies for 2022/1

Then assuming GWS would prefer a KPP,
2, 2022/2 (Giants) for 3, 2022/2 (Crows).

Then we just need JHF to get past North where we hope JHF does his bit.

2021 picks are JHF, Butts and Strachan upgrades
2022 picks are then pies 1st, giants 2nd

No point doing this if Horne isn't there at pick 3 (or 5 after bids) on draft night so would want to wait till then to upgrade. But then we have to trade for Dawson (if it's not PSD path) before draft night so would have to be our pick 23 for Dawson - probably wont be too different to GC's 2022 r2 pick anyway.

Dudley with 4 goals… was important in the last quarter in getting SA back into a winning position.

SA wouldve won easily if the umpiring was so lopsided…

You and everyone else did not know that North would take Phillips at 2 last year - that much was plainly evident on draft day - nor do any of you know with certainty what they will do with pick 1 this year, that was the point of the exercise.

It's why being defeatist about pick swapping up the ladder is ludicrous, because neither you nor anyone else can know for sure what it will do for us, as none of you know the actual draft selections before they happen.

As I said go back and look at the facts.
Dave had Phillips at 1 in his power rankings
Knightmare had him top 3
The top 7 were basically unanimous with Campbell included.
So tell me Walsh rankine lukosius mking, rozee, bking and Smith wasn't virtually as predicted

Exactly ....North taking Will Phillips shocked the footy world .....Logan McDonald was the obvious selection for North who are still saying they need a KPF this year

North said they wanted to build the midfield first ......so they Drafted for need NOT talent

It's why I'm hopeful still of Callaghan falling to us

I wouldn't be surprised if drafting Callaghan is just the equivalent of burning pick four. Any kid that enveloped into the Victorian football landscape is not seeing out 5 years at an interstate club.

It's very likely that the attitude of "draft talent and back your club to make them stay" has been one that's held interstate clubs back over the last 15 years.

Actually I thought it was better he allowed himself to get run down while focussing on getting the kick straight. A lot of players would try and evade the tackler and then have to kick around the body.

Both played well I thought, but their lack of size and athleticism will seriously go against them. Not sure either will get drafted.

He played well, much better than the last game but no way Adam D'Aloia wasn't SA's best IMO.

O'Loughlin had 22 disposals, 10 of them were kick ins, I can only surmise someone was just looking at the stats sheet.

So glad we sent the oldies off on a high in R23 resulting in giving up pick 2 for pick 4.
Genius AFC.

Honestly, North were that bad that we'd probably have our next two drafts stripped from us if we lost that game. Because we tried to tank it by selecting the youngest squad we had all year (and one firmly in the "you're going to get belted badly" experience range).

That might have been the single worst effort I've ever seen at this level. Like they could have gone to the local bus stop, round up 22 randoms and they're probably giving a better effort than Norths squad that week.

Seems the WAFL umpires have been taking lessons from the SANFL umpires.

Umpiring has been a one way street.

Hardly surprising since they are wearing the WA colours.
