Sam Gray delisted - someone tie up Ken until after the draft plz.

The reason we are looking at trading out ladhams......is because we back ended his contract and next year he is due a larger portion of that contract (if the rumours are true). I feel we are trading him for financial reasons and as a business decision rather than a football one…
"PORT BIG MAN MEETS CLUBS
HAWTHORN and Sydney have both met with Peter Ladhams......... who has one year remaining on a back-ended contract with the Power – by next Wednesday's deadline.

This has me a little worried.

We've heard for years that we had an epic war chest. We then proceeded to low ball Dawson, we've dropped some huge contracts of Rockliff probably 800k and Hartlett probably 400-600k, even Motlop should take a massive drop, yet we are still concerned about money???

It's starting to smell like we are paying the bare minimum of the salary cap and doing it intentionally???

I understand the financial pressures on the club, but the priority should be to fully fund the team, we've seen what will happen if we dont. We must learn from the past. Whilst we have a competitive team we should be spending all that we can now.

How much could Ladhams really have been backended too, surely he's only on maybe $300k maybe $400k absolute max.

Lol, we want a mobile agile 202cm ruckman who can play forward and could lead our 1st ruck division for the next 8 years to break his back ended contract but we don't want to pay for him.

And we're the unrealistic ones.
And we're not giving up any decent draft picks either.

Rearrange the letters in Peter Ladhams and you get Mad Leper Shat.... Rearrange the letters in Lil F****** Pisty and you get Yip Flicking Lust.... bit in that....

We are through the looking glass here people

So we trade out Ladhams to Hawks for next year's 1st and wearing the portion of the overs he is getting paid and next year's pick becomes Lemmy ( ok lemmey but [emoji4]) or Luko at worse? Or even Luko this year if the Suns are smart?

That sounds reasonable.

Should not have visited the Ladhams thread on the main board. Not worth it 🤦‍♂️
I called the mods in cause it was just full of trolls shitting all over the place, they came in and deleted pages and gave a warning last night.

It’s 10am and the thread is already full again of post after post spouting the same nonsense and trolling.

The main boards are worse than bay 13 and the mods pretend they can’t do anything about it.

The idea that the line in the sand is swearing or outright threats is dated, short sighted and damaging.

That they’ll ban a post with poor language but let stand a 100 posts that perpetuate lies and aggressive mis truths and thinly veiled attacks is ridiculous.

In this age the danger isn’t offensive language, it’s misrepresentation, manipulation of the truth and outright false information that is harmful.

Chief urgently needs to rethink how this forum is modded cause at this stage everything that’s not a teams own board is a binfire of people who don’t know what they’re talking about trying to speak lies into reality.

I mean how much time would it take to educate a mod on the difference between a subjective opinion and an objective fact? And then ask them to police it?

Why would you not increase the penalties from nothing / kicked out of a thread (wow big deal) to an actual punishment, like risk of getting booted from bigfooty for good?

FMD, the amount of bedwetting about Ladhams is absolutely ludicrous.

Firstly, people had themselves convinced that somehow we were going to hold onto the three ruckmen who all have clear aspirations of being #1, completely ignoring the competitive/career ambitions of those players, with some sort of magical expectation that they would all hang around indefinitely, against their personal interests, because reasons.

Now, somehow our list management is a disaster, even though we have been pulling off these deals for the last two or three years, all to our favour. This situation is IDENTICAL to the Dougal Howard situation -> people get attached to the mythical upside of this player, lose their shit when he gets traded (extracting maximum value while we have peak leverage, i.e. under contract), we find that they weren't actually that amazing to begin with, and we end up adding quality prospect(s)/assets, and objectively win the deal.

This is all without mentioning the issue last year that many here argued a) cost us momentum in the premiership chase, and b) argued that he could have easily lost his spot.

And to add an extra layer of hilarity, the people who have built their entire personality around wanting to axe Ken somehow need to confect a story that this is all Ken's doing, when it is clearly just another example of good business from our forward-thinking, asset building list management.

Remember:

Chief and his mods have actively and systemically bullied and encouraged group-bullying of a disabled woman for YEARS, and it still continues to this day.

Rumours swirling ladhams to hawks as good as done
Wonder what for?

They wouldn’t move him for pick 5, and pick 21 would be moronic for us.

At pick 21 in this draft we get a speculative player with a low chance of becoming a first 22 player and an even lower chance of becoming a better player than Ladhams.

Next years first for Ladhams + our 22 3rd or one of hawks seconds 21/24 + hawks future 2nd for Ladhams + future 3rd would be the only deals remotely worth entertaining. Otherwise we just need to keep him.

Is he in any better a position there as he is at Port?

Ben McEvoy is still their lead ruckman and they have a promising young ruckman coming through.

McEvoy is 32 but he's a durable 32 and he finished in the top 15 in their best and fairest.

There was a report that the Hawks (in full rebuild mode) were prepared to let either O’Meara or Wingard go for a top 10 pick but no one was interested at that price. Ladhams is probably worth a late first, early second in this draft but Port have hinted that they want more than that for him.

If the above is true, Ladhams for O’Meara or Wingard with less significant picks evening out the trade, could be on the cards. I don’t think the Hawks will want to lose any of #5, #21 or #24 whilst in rebuild mode.

Lol.

Who had themselves convinced we would hold onto all three ruckmen? Wanting to keep Ladhams does not indicate this in and of itself.

It's not identical to the Howard trade. Howard was and is a dodgy player, more an athlete than a footballer. By the end of his time at Port he struggled to even get a game in the backline. Ladhams has shown steady improvement as a ruckman and has dangerous and smart forward craft. There's a lot of potential for this trade to come back to bite us, way more than Howard.
