Who are you wanting with the North pick?
We need key position players. Lemmey is a pick 1 or 2. Busslinger as a key back would be nice as well but he is more a pick around 10.

I hope we take a key position player. If we go mid Tastas is more a need than Wardlaw.

What about ess?

For me Scully is the interesting one, a player at 204cm who can kick and read the ball in the air. But Essendon is a mess, so why not just take the best available. Sad when watching the draft is more enjoyable than watching the spuds playing at Essendon.

Knightmare is no longer with us but this is his May rankings. A few surprises - Scully high and Wardlaw low.

1 - Ashcroft
2 - Scully
3 - Lemmey
4 - Hewett
5 - Phillipou
6 - Tstas
7 - Wardlaw
8 - Dowling
9 - Ryan
10 - Broadbent
11 - Busslinger
12 - Sheezel
13 - D'Aioa
14 - Keller
15 - Madden
Bailey Rogers stiff here

Yeah the 90s when we were both powerhouses is a life time away now!!

Not sure if he’s been mentioned on here, but look out for Cam Mackenzie. Had 35 touches and 5 goals from the midfield for Brighton Grammar last week.

Big bodied mid and plays for Dragons also.
Been mentioned a few times and is high on many radars. So much so, he was taken at (I think) pick 17 in the Big footy mid season draft back on Tuesday

Another 29 touches, 6 clearances, 4 tackles and a goal for Will Ashcroft in the Lions VFL match today. Not struggling with the step up to VFL level at all.

I'm guessing that's likely the last VFL game he'll play for us this year now.

That standard of footy looks pretty slow and lacks intensity.
I’m saying that he looks a very nice player. Great skills and nice composure.
Really that's the Crows SANFL League team playing West Adelaide's SANFL League team, a Crows SANFL team with 14 AFL listed Crows playing...a fair bit harder than NAB League U18's footy.

I agree it’s a tougher competition. How ever the highlights shown it looked like it lacked intensity to me. I haven’t watched much SANFL over the years to be honest.

It's usually the opposite. VFL and WAFL footballers that come over and play here note that the SANFL is tougher and more contested than their respective leagues. WAFL is normally regarded as the most free flowing due to the big grounds.

the SANFL u18's is nowhere near the NAB League in quality, i even think the WAFL Colts is a bit better, the SANFL itself is strong and is on par and maybe a bit ahead of the VFL and better than the WAFL.

Ryan was on debut at SANFL League level and had an outstanding game playing against a Crows SANFL team with 14 AFL listed players playing in the game.

Had an outstanding game the week before at SANFL reserves level as well.

It will be interesting to see how the SANFL U18's fare at this year's Nationals as they look to have a very competitive team on paper.

Personally I feel the SANFL U18s is a better standard than the WAFL Colts this year, gap between the top and bottom talents isn't as obvious in SA, and theyve got a really strong bottom age crop helping that

WAFL Colts isn't very strong. There's a small handful of players who stand out like beacons, but there's many more players of low skill/talent compared to the SANFL and obviously the NAB league.

I really want to see Busslinger, Broadbent, Bevan etc play seniors, it's not really challenging them playing Colts.

Only a BIT?

It's an absolute joke and should be binned altogether.

Take Isaac Keeler this year for example, the Crows have put in a stack of work over the last 3 years in his development but if he gets taken before pick 40 we can't match.

It was mildly racist lip service from the AFL to get 14 clubs to shut up about the academies.

Pridham cracked the sads about JUH so they have wound it back. I've noticed this isnt the case for the northern academies though, cant take the instant rebuild away from those clubs, oh no.

The AFL will never be a level playing field as long as we have the Father/Son, Club's with Academies etc whereby the clubs these players are tied to get first dibs on the elite talent.

F/S is a nice romantic idea, I dont want that to go. 16 clubs benefit from that and its pure luck of the draw. GWS/GC will join in too soon enough..

Academies and NGA are a joke though.
