Say what you like about Bassett, at least he is surrounding himself with experienced football people. Lethlean, Walsh and Dilena have been around footy for a very long time. Finally it looks like we’re getting our off field staff right. For me, the next focus should be on recruitment and list management. Rather than go after the best available, we should just target the best.

I think his heart is in the right place. He's making some changes which is a great start but in a results based industry he'll get measured on our success.

I think he's got s*t happening but for all the ****** around we haven't really got going still. A lot of the work he did on the list was moving out GOPs for GOPs. He's got to be kept in check. Just because you make lots of noise and movement it doesn't make you good. We are having to review the review of the review and all of his appointments so he's definitely not got a clean set of hands.
I'm not sure what you expect when we simply can't attract good people to the club. Churning the footy dpt doesn't mean every new appointment will be an automatic winner particularly when we only have access to the bottom of the barrel.
I don't mean to defend him or anyone else but l think it's pertty obvious that on the whole the club is in a better spot now even if we here are despondent.

I think Bassat is probably responsible for those footy department improvements. Lethlean is gathering a lot of crosses and is a power hungry type. He might work out well but he’s not been great so far.

I really doubt Bassett has been hands on with footy dpt hiring. Rath and Ratts haven't worked but others have and it's better than Richo and Cox.
IDGAF about retribution, we've got Walsh on board now which is what you've been screaming for so be happy.

"They see a bit of talent in me, I can play a role down there, whether it's forward or back... Another thing that drew me there is 'Ratts' (St Kilda coach Brett Ratten) is a good people person.
"He forms strong relationships with his players and staff. He has a lot of trust and faith in his players and that was a big drawcard."
- Zaine Cordy on why he left the Western Bulldogs to join St Kilda.

Amazing we have a coach that attracts players - wonder if people give him any credit for that.

I'm happy with Walsh he looks a good appointment. Lethlean shouldn't be given free rein, if he's no good he should be moved on like all staff.

Whilst happy that a Football Manager has been appointed let’s not get to carried away with him .
‘The bloke is 66, and questions have to be asked about his productivity and the ability to work the 60 plus hour week.
The Geoff Walsh from 2010 ,yes, sure ,but we have a bloke in the real world is beyond the normal retirement age of 65.
‘Are we now offering a destination for aging administrators?

Is this a quote from someone?

Yep, they're all banging down the door to play under Ratts

Just my observation
No worries.

Sounds as though he was very keen to get back into a full time footy role so I'm not too concerned about his age.

Neil Balme is thought to be a driving force behind the Tigers. He was the same.age when they won their drought breaking premiership

As a 66 year old still in the work force I take offence at your comment. 65 is not some magical switch which means you no longer love doing what you do, love the mental stimulation, and suddenly struggle to get out of bed in the morning. Hell, I can even read and post on social media.

Pension age Players, pension age administrators...do not discriminate, we are the most inclusive team on the planet. We are St.Kilda, bring in your broken and desolute, fornicators, and failures, bring in your wrinkled and withered...we'll have a game for you 😉

Seriously though, Walsh has credits in the bank. Looks a good pick up. If he lifts standards and holds people to account then he's doing his job.

Yes fair enough, but do you believe that Geoff Walsh can perform at the same efficiency in a highly fast moving ever changing environment compared his 40s and 50s.My experience says no ,Father Time catches up with all of us..

OK, I guess running for President of the USA is out of the question then. If only 6 of the last 7 or so knew they weren't up to it. Hang on, that's probably not a good example, a few of them weren't, but that might not have been age related.

Nothing against Walsh, think he's a good get, but would have been over the moon with Balme. He is to footy admin what Clarkson - up until very recently - was to coaching.

Sorry, I think that’s ridiculous.

I wonder if Walsh will soundproof the walls of his office so that Bassat can't hear him snoring after lunch everyday. :D
