He's obviously not as good as Weddle or Busslinger but jeez you wouldn't blame anyone for jumping early on Van Es after his combine results. Back yourself in to develop his skills and you'd have a stud.
Had somel long penetrating kicks in the Champs game , worth a throw at the stumps. As he develops physically I think there is great scope for development

We are set now.

Tallest backline ever complete.

You forgot to add Gruzewski and last years early pick Darcy.

Gruzewski is a player I like as a future CHB but is probably picked by a team as a forward. Maybe even a third tall rebounder. I think he won’t work out as a forward and could be a good target in two years and switch him to the backline.

Jaxon Binns plug and play on a wing where is he projected to go in the draft??

Later Second round 20-40 is his range.
I think he will be in the earlier part of that range and he improved as the year went on, so may go higher than 30 but unlikely.

He is one of the many players in the 15-40 range I like.

Darcy Jones as a small who could find his spot just about anywhere on the ground could be a great option a bit later if we take care of other needs early.

I have a feeling Bailey Humphrey will slide come draft night and it’ll be someone like Sydney that picks him up

It’ll also be interesting to see who picks up Phillipou if Adelaide & Port trade out their first picks. You just know they’ll make a play for him in a couple of years if he turns out to be anything

Just thinking there will be some very interesting picks in the later half of the first round because some clubs will go for someone unexpected early

Dont want to lay into the kid as there could be other reasons at play but Hayes collapsing in the 2km is pretty concerning I would have thought?
Or he's a gut-runner who pushes himself to the limit?
I don't think clubs will be put off by it.

It’s a 2km time trial…. Not like he was doing a half marathon or something. I don’t think any potential AFL players should be collapsing in a 2km unless he was on track for a sub 3min/k tbh so it is a definite concern for mine, unless as I said there were other factors at play, might have been battling a sickness etc

He’d be covering the better part of 10km in game, we don’t know the circumstances behind it but I wouldn’t read this as inability to run 2km, the combine can be taxing and he might have made some mistakes in his preparation or been unwell.

Clubs do thorough medicals of all potential draftees. Initial reports suggest a lactic build up rather than a chronic issue.
If anything, his ability to push himself into redline territory would be looked upon favourably.
