Sheldrick is extracting it very effectively. He’s evidently not quite fully match fit just yet, but looks the most effective mid.

I thought Rankin has been very good too.

It’s a few established players (Bell, Ronke, Wicks, Melican) that have been a bit disappointing for me.

Oh yeah I've liked Sheldrick's game. I've liked what I've seen of him in every VFL outing (and his lone AFL appearance.) But it's all grunt thus far. Scrapping for a ground ball on his knees as he's gone to ground in a pack, dishing out handballs because he can't do much else with a few blokes hanging off him, hurried kicks forward as he's taken opponents on when he shouldn't have. I like all that stuff, but would like to see a bit more silk to go with it. Doesn't have to become Shai Bolton. But rove some ruck taps smoothly, win some clean clearances, evade some tackles with some foot work.

It could still come. Only a young fella. And I think that grunt work could really complement Mills, Rowbottom and Warner anyway.

Good game against high quality opposition.

Sheldrick led disposals (30) & clearances (8). Pretty good for a first year player coming back after several months off.

Beyond that, not a lot stood out, except for Brayden Crossley. Brutalised Sinkers & was BoG (despite grimlock’s apt description that he looks like The Hound from Game of Thrones).

I liked Logan's running up the ground, long hand pass or kick, then quickly into forward line.
Ran all night

Melican is the strangest player. Started off very strong, was getting a fist to every ball that came his way. After half time literally looked lost.

It's like his mind and energy source just... switches off? Reminds me of my old Honda Civic when I first got my license. Drove out of my suburb as smooth as velvet. By the time I got beyond a 10-15km radius of my suburbs, she'd start chugging, random noises would start popping up and I'd be thinking, "Here we go, where's it gonna break down this time."

If he has actually become a semi up standing member of the community, he would be worth giving a second chance to. He'd certainly be an upgrade on both Sinclair and McAndrew and looks more robust than Naismith
McAndrew's a beanpole, been with us a year and progressing well. Way too soon.

No regrets about delisting Zac Foot anybody?

I don't regret it as our hand was basically forced by COVID. But it is a shame. I often wonder what he could've become if his time with us wasn't cruelly cut short. We had the midas touch that draft, so every chance Foot could've become a star too.

One of those players that were talented enough to consistently make big plays thru juniors but not specialised enough to stake a claim on any particular role at the top level.
Seemed a likeable young fella tho. Hope he’s enjoying his footy, without regrets.
