The only way to get two RS nominations is to get them in different seasons.

Given the eligibility criteria (must be less than 10 games before the season) I very much hope he only ever gets one RS nomination.

Genuinely think he’s very close to our best young talent tbh (obviously hasn’t shown it yet - bare with me a season or two). The more games we get into him the better. Special talent with a great attitude - Very very exciting.
Our best young talent is one Sean Darcy in a position of scarcity. Love Chappy though!

Agree and I would still consider Brayshaw young. I think Brayshaw takes another step this season and he will still be behind Darcy who will improve again.

Is Darcy still young?

Chappy will be better than Brayshaw. I’m obviously projecting the future here. Chappy has played 5-6 games but from what I’ve seen in those games and before that I reckon he’s something pretty damn special. I’m talking Nat Fyfe special.

In terms of Ruckman who dont normally hit their peak until their late 20's i'd say yes he is still young.

Whilst that is true to a degree and it’s scary how good Darcy will become, I find this is often used as an excuse for 21/22 year old rucks and KPFs that are spuds at that age. Quite frankly it’s been used as an excuse for spuds like English for years and he’s continued to be a spud.

Henry is 20 ....another solid pre-season is all important

Plus with a forward line that will have up to 3 marking targets available ...should be far more contests and with that Henry can come into his own,

I'll judge Henry on his ability to hit the scoreboard and apply defensive pressure.

I'd be looking for 15 + goals in the season and really upping that tackling pressure.
He’s not a small forward and J Lo has stated he’s playing wing.

He's 179 cm and has been played predominantly as a small forward .....guess what he's a small forward until I see something else.

Plus going to be quite the busy wing position isn't it? I'm a traditionalist however and would only play the 2 wings.

He may not be a small forward, but that also doesn't automatically mean he is a wing. I think they are trying to figure out where he fits.

Round 1 I think Tucker and Aish will be on the wings. But it's a bit of a mystery box at the moment.

He’s been played out of position up forward according to the coach himself.
Going to good to see the boys fighting it out for limited wing spots this pre season.

That actually doesn't say he has been played out of position does it? It's not just semantics, Longmuir more talks about trying him in a new position.

To be fair, English was a predicted top 10 pick. Did get selected at 19. Just hasn’t been working out. Returns every season looking like he needs to bulk up 5 kilos. Whereas Darcy gets leaner and muscle

Says he has been played deep forward ‘out of necessity more than anything’. From that I’m inferring that Liam is being played out of position up forward.

Anyway does anyone know if we trained today or is it all over til New Year?

Shoot, I Love [emoji173]️ all the positivity in this thread. There’s been some tough years here. Now we’re arguing who’s gonna better, Brayshaw, Chappy, Young, Darcy, or my buddy Serong.

Well it's clearly going to be my buddy, but the others aren't too bad.

yeah, I'm not sure that it means he is a winger. And if he is a winger, I question whether he deserves to be considered first choice. High half forward rather than crumbing small forward for me.

What I do like is he seems to be perceived as a weapon that they are trying to get the most out of.

Interesting comments from JL on Henry

One thing that Liam’s done off his own bat, he’s made real inroads in the off-season, he’s been able to improve his fitness levels from when he first came to the Club and that’s opened up a lot of scope for him to be able to play up the ground and on the wing and play to his strengths up there."

Longmuir expects Henry to make the most of his opportunities after building his strength and fitness.

“He was just so underdone in so many ways when he came to the Club," Longmuir said.

"He was obviously high in talent but coming off some really serious injuries and had a really low fitness base and strength base when he first arrived.

“He’s really worked hard in the off-season and over the years to strengthen his body and become a really good aerobic athlete.

“I’m really excited about what he can produce up the ground.”

Henry ‘making inroads’… https://www.fremantlefc.com.au/news/1042561

My 2c Re: Henry.

He was definitely moved further up the ground in the dying moments of games last season and you could see him creating, changing angles, running it out. I'm not surprised that this change is coming based off that, especially with his off-season fitness work.

He seemed to look a lot more comfortable doing that than getting crumbs, seems he has been played out of position to my untrained eye.

Nah the amount of guys who are tall spuds at 21/22 and become good players is only slightly more than tall players that reach their peak at 21/22.

It’s used as an excuse for talls so much it’s like people think every tall is a spud until their 23/24. In reality the improvement for good talls is there to see and if they’re going to make it they show something after 2-3 years in the system. There’s exceptions (Taberner for example) but if you haven’t shown you can contribute by 21/22 it’s unlikely they’ll make. Things like consistency and/or reaching their best obviously come later but I’d say contributing at 21/22 is what most good talls do.

So in the context of this point, where do you see Meek ending up? Journeyman second ruck or something more?
