first half v Richmond he spent fair bit of time on the wing and looked good when he got it

Yeah I just rewatched a bit of that game and he was decent. If he’s worked on his running and strength then he’ll do good things on the wing, maybe like a faster Sonny when he used to play up the ground a bit in the early years, post wafl banishment

Sean Darcy was being put through a big workout session on his Insta so it has to be Mundy
I think they should just let Mundy skip all the running and strength work and just complete the match sims and game plan sessions. That way he wouldn’t need to “injure” himself to get out of doing another preseason, he’s done 17 of them, this is supposed to be his 19tb but he missed most of last year after he broke his leg in an “accident” with his kids. Didn’t stop him this year.

This tweet from a training watcher on Friday indicated an ankle injury. Pretty standard to be off weight bearing with any decent rolled ankle. Until I read otherwise I’ll assume it’s nothing too severe but he’ll prob be taking it easy when pre-season training resumes in the new year.

He may not be a small forward, but that also doesn't automatically mean he is a wing. I think they are trying to figure out where he fits.

Round 1 I think Tucker and Aish will be on the wings. But it's a bit of a mystery box at the moment.

God I hope not

Watched Sturt play a couple of WAFL games last year and he was very clearly in a different league to the majority of players on the park. Looked like a genuine AFL forward that was playing a level below his natural place in the system. Injuries are the real challenge for Sam.
Valente on the other hand played a few times last year too in the WAFL, and I can’t say he stood out very much at all unfortunately. Couple of flashes here and there I guess. However Banfield looks great in the WAFL too though remember, and yet is very much a fringe AFL player.

Sturt came back in his first game at Peel and looked like Bailey Fritsch in the GF.

I was there watching and he was awesome

Hi folks,
How is Joel Hamling going? If fit looks great value for the bench in fantasy.
Cheers.

In less than two years time, Darcy is going to have Max Gawn from everyone's radars!

Is training with the main group for the first time in 2 years and is naturally a lock for round 1 if he doesn't have any setbacks. Will score you a sweet 40 points a game

I swear Hamling would score less than 40 every second game lol.

Possibly could go down in value from 196,000. It’s burnt me in the past when it comes to rookies but I generally avoid KPPs at all costs in fantasy.

My advice to anyone on Hamling would be to not pick him. Only slightly better than picking Zac Dawson a few years ago. Find 3-4 other rookie defenders and if you can only find 2-3 go extra rookies elsewhere.

Hamling will sit on the bench of fantasy and won't earn much, but IF fit, will play every game, which imo makes him perfect cheap back-up. Sure you can pick a rookie, but that rookie may cost more and not play or cost less but still not play.

Assuming Joel plays every game and averages the 45 points you'd expect, you'd be hoping that around Round 6 he has a game where he takes 10 marks and kicks sideways for a random game of 80 points before you trade him out two weeks later.

Not guaranteed a game with our defence

Not guaranteed to stay fit with his history

Not guaranteed even a half decent score

There will be better rookie options down the line that make you money

Even at his very best he is not fantasy relevant . Will start the season at 196K and lucky to get to too $350K by the end of it so not going to make you quick cash.
