A motivated and fit Lobb is what Fremantle need. He has games (Sydney, Hawks,Collingwood) where he dominates, if he can increase that to even 8 games a year that would go a long way to us winning more often.

Get that trade value up ...GWS have a 2nd and 3rd next year ...be nice to get near that 2nd.

Said the private school boy...[emoji1787]
No wonder they call it Cockburn with all the circling jerking goings on [emoji1787][emoji1787]

I have seen multiple people on and off this board say that they get the "too cool for school" vibe from him. That is what I mean by show pony. He celebrates every goal even when we are losing.
He is no orphan there.... We have a need for some energy and creativity. Many here were critical of ROLY ball that seemingly had a leaning towards stifling creativity. this kid has that and now some here want to see that 'coached" out of him.. FFS he may not yet be best 22 as a walk-up start but gee he offers a lot with his natural flair. I for one hope he retains that and builds his other capabilities to match that flair.

Fremantle Dockers defenders Joel Hamling and Alex Pearce eyeing round one of 2022 AFL season

Fremantle expect injury-cursed key defenders Joel Hamling and Alex Pearce to play in round one next season, setting the scene for an intriguing battle for defensive spots.

Hamling, 28, has played just one game in the past two seasons due to ankle injuries, while Pearce, 26, fought back from missing the second half of 2019 and all of 2020 to make 10 appearances last season.

The pair each returned from long-term lay-offs in round one this year, with Pearce used as a makeshift forward target against Melbourne before both went down with further long-term injuries.

Dockers coach Justin Longmuir said while he didn’t want to set benchmarks for the pair in 2022, he anticipated they would play in pre-season fixtures and the season-opener against Adelaide on March 20.

“I just expect Pearcey to continue the way he’s been going. It’s the first time he’s actually started a pre-season in a long time,” Longmuir said.

“So keep him in one piece, keep him progressing with the amount of loads we give him.

“And Joel to just be patient with that ankle and continue his process. We expect them both to play over the pre-season and round one, but we just need to be patient with them as well and try not to get caught up into rushing them back.”

Hamling, Pearce and emerging tall defenders Brennan Cox and Griffin Logue have never played in the same side and if the quartet were all fit it could prompt the Dockers to revisit using the 195cm Cox as a key forward.

Competition for spots in the back seven will also be fuelled by the return of promising youngster Heath Chapman from injury and the addition of former Geelong speedster Jordan Clark.

After an overhaul of their medical and strength and conditioning departments last summer, Longmuir was confident the Dockers would have an improved season on the injury front next year.

“I see our medical, fitness staff working tirelessly and trying to improve our injury list,” he said.

“At the moment it’s in good shape. We’re not perfect, no club is. We’re trying to push our players to get as much work into them as we can, whilst looking after them and making sure our availability is good.

“We’ve got new staff, new processes in place and we’re really confident that we’ll improve that area.”

That's good to hear. Can't remember the last time hamling and pearce both played round 1....oh wait

On no, here we go again.
Why? Cox Is elite at reading the ball and getting his hands on it.
Logue will be preferred at defence because he has the agility and pace to match up on the faster medium/smalls, whereas Cox lacks speed.

Hamling is a must down back. Pearce should never ever play forward ever again. That round 1 2021 abomination should be burned and never touched again

Not Cox going forward, he should be open to it if it is best for the team.

The oh no was more about the debate again on here.

Can’t have anymore than three of Cox, Hamling, Pearce, Logue. Logue and Hamling have the capacity to play the smaller to medium tall types along with Young, Chapman and Ryan. No way we can fit all four into the team.

The likes of Chapman (wing), Cox (Forward), Young (Wing) and Logue (Forward) will need flexibility to play other positions if they want a game with full availability.

For mine (and this will cause debate) if everyone is 100% fit (which will never be the case) Griffin Logue would miss out along with Heath Chapman.

I say that making note that I’m a massive fan of Heath Chapman.

There’s no way in hell Chapman and Young wouldn’t be best 22 as pure defenders in my opinion.
Young, Ryan, Chapman, Clark, Pearce, Cox for mine. Chapman will take Logue’s spot as the hybrid. Logue the seventh defender. Hamling could make things interesting but he’s got to get fit and back to his level first.

I said I wouldn't talk any more about show ponys so we will see how he turns out. He has the talent so hopefully we will get to see him at his full potential. P.s. creativity and flair are seperate things.

Henry doesn't lack creativity, he just doesn't get involved enough at this stage of his career.

I'm not really concerned with the pace of his development because everyone develops at their own pace. It will probably take a few more years but he will get there.

Nat’s a show pony

I don’t ever call people out on here but don’t **** with the skipper. He’s could come out wearing a pink tutu for all I care. He’s a warrior and a beast. The 1980s just called…they want their cool guy, machismo bullshit back.

Some of my friends are show ponies

He’s been in the AFL two years, one full pre season. He ll be fine

Would like to see Young tried as a mid. He played there in NAB League.

Henry thinks he's pretty good. When in actual fact he's just your average run of the mill player. Nothing wrong with that, it's the fact he was a high pick.
Let’s give him a chance first? Has to add at least 5kg to his frame at least.
Tries to pull off the miracle plays, just needs to dial down the
flair and do the basics well first.
You can’t teach that offensive style, and in time he will be massive in assists.
Our forward line needs time to gel, get to know each other.
New forwards coach has the credentials to improve the group as a whole.
