Preseason report #5
Firstly it was bloody hot today at training and the players are superhuman to push through it. Lots of talk and encouragement in the group which was great to hear and Impressive with Fyfe and Mundy in rehab.
The group is super fit and very driven.
Rehab
Mundy - running very well no concerns
Amiss - no strapping on the knee now and continuing to build fitness
Walker - still in rehab but did participate in some main drills - looks close to returning to main group
Fyfe - what can you say, a more dedicated athlete at a footy club you are unlikely to find. Now taking overhead marks on the “marks bag”. Kicking looks greatly improved and stayed and worked on his game for the entire session.
Tabs looks good and building fitness.
Tracey - looks a long way behind Fyfe and Tabs
Crowden - new to rehab strapping on left knee and moving pretty ginger
Main group
Big group again with Peel boys participating
Match simulation was Purple v Yellow
Erasmus played the match sims in the midfield playing on players such as Brayshaw. He looks like he has been playing for years in our team, Johnson also had lots of midfield minutes and used the ball well.
Standouts
Serong still with the orange cap but played fully and was a bull in the midfield.
Chapman dashing out of the backline and backing his skills was outstanding
Walters still the best forward and kick into the forward line, he is over his previous injuries
Hamling and Sturt participated in the match sim but did not get a lot of ball
Frederick much more involved than last training
Disappointing
Poor movement into forward fifty continues despite training this every session
The scoreboard read Purple 3goals 22behinds and Yellow 6goals 28 behinds (can you believe it!)
TTHD
Giving it to Serong and Erasmus because after the match sim the players were made to have more running (insane) and they just continued to compete with each other to see who would come first in every run.
