Because of how fit the squad looks this year. Why’s that?
I think it's a trend over the whole league fwiw.

As Taylor pointed out it is his first pre-season. He's going to be good. I like his kamikaze style.Noddy looks like he needs to trim the body fat a bit more next pre season. That Clayton Oliver build haha
That’s because we got out muscled, no pressure acts. Cerra didn’t play so it had nothing to do with him.Not quite sure where to put this. But thought was apt for the thread.
Quite a few players have mentioned this in the off season a bit.
Kept exactly what Jlo was checking when seeing the headline

No question. Times like those games really wish Jlo had a tagger or run-with. Steele domianted and coaches refuse to play a man on him. I’d imagine in the future it’ll be different. But having Fyfe on Steele, for example, isn’t going to be ideal to win games. Have Serong, Bradshaw, Fyfe do their thing and add a Banfield type to protect the space. That’s because we got out muscled, no pressure acts. Cerra didn’t play so it had nothing to do with him.
I still think we are one of the quickest teams around, but without the manic pressure acts, even if we make finals it will be Essendon like, out in straight sets.
The players drafted, traded suggest we are learning.
I don’t know about Aish, has he done enough this pre-season or are we playing him on previous performances and coaching relationships?I think not. But I am biased and like players to get a decent grounding in the wafl. O'Driscoll arguably has that but wasn't bashing the door down last year, and there are several other wing options. Aish and Tucker locked in too.
I think he's the type that gets under-appreciated, he's a mature bodied player who understands the game and offers a lot of versatility.I don’t know about Aish, has he done enough this pre-season or are we playing him on previous performances and coaching relationships?
May be unpopular but I don’t see Aish as best 22 come mid-season, he has been good, serviceable and fits the requirement of experience for the developing player group when we got him. At times he was very average.
IMO he shouldn’t be and won’t be part of our best 18 or 22 as the likes of O’Driscoll, Henry, Erasmus and later on Johnson progress quickly.

its about mental attitude though, which is what JLo talks about in the article. Every team is capable of applying pressure when they are switched on mentally; it’s about making sure the team are doing that more of the time in more games - and yes part of that is drafting players with the right attitude, and moving on those who don’t have it.That’s because we got out muscled, no pressure acts. What staggers me is that no-one seems to uncover the fact that our midfield is already top 8 in quality despite us being the second youngest side. Just add a better injury run, more consistency and better forward connection/accuracy and we're monty's for at least 10 wins.I think it might end up being a good thing that the punters at Fox insist on us being worse this year than last. That sort of chat filters down to the team, no matter what they say about ignoring outside noise.
Let the boys get fired up that Max Laughton sees Cerra's departure as a bigger negative than the positives being earned by a full preseason for most of our young stars and the addition of a gun, rapid defender.
Optimism is growing on this board, and so it should, but outside we're still seen as perpetual battlers.
Looking forward to proving them wrong.

Our wings are average at best and our forwardline is not top 8 worthy. What staggers me is that no-one seems to uncover the fact that our midfield is already top 8 in quality despite us being the second youngest side. So you don't think we make finals? Our wings are average at best and our forwardline is not top 8 worthy.

Well this is based on where we left last season. We have a new forwardline coach and a new focus on goal kicking accuracy and pressure. I'm also excited by our new prospects and changes to our b22.So you don't think we make finals?
Got a few players coming in from the injury list who will be very handy.Well this is based on where we left last season. We have a new forwardline coach and a new focus on goal kicking accuracy and pressure. I'm also excited by our new prospects and changes to our b22.
No current season stats available
Didn’t say start of the year, he will get his spot based on the status of the list, by mid to end of the year o expect other options to be better than Aish.I'm not suggesting Aish has a job for life but none of the 4 you mentioned would be close to replacing him at the start of the year, and it's questionable if wing is their best position anyway.
Henry is the only one who has debuted for starters, and while I agree Aish had some ordinary games last year, Henry was less impressive, only managing to show glimpses of his potential.
The through line for the posts are responding to the question about round 1 selection. Fine if you've diverged from that.Didn’t say start of the year, he will get his spot based on the status of the list, by mid to end of the year o expect other options to be better than Aish.
He was brought in as a stop gap - lieutenant type that JLo knew what he would dish up, our list moves past him by the end of the year.
Our wings are average at best and our forwardline is not top 8 worthy.
The article in question is attempting (somewhat poorly) to project forward. Your last couple of sentences are capturing the spirit!Well this is based on where we left last season.
