The problem with Henry being a defensive liability is we are already carrying quite a few

Mundy , Walters , Lobb , Tabbs and Fyfe when he comes back

Acres , Colyer and Clark ( from the little I’ve seen )are borderline in that bracket as well

1 thing I like about Meek in the team is how he helps out with the pressure at ground level and tracks back hard

Get Noddy in

I agree get Noddy in, but put him in Acres spot.

Look, sorry if I was a bit argumentative in this debate. What do you think is the best way for a team to move the ball forward? Would be curious to know.

I think the best way is a kick to a run and carry player in the corridor who moves it quickly all the way to deep inside fifty.

The next best is with a mark.

Both come with the caveats that they will be heavily defended and a turnover almost guarantees a goal against. Hence why the ball is moved up the boundary.

Fair enough. I thought that you thought that the ball was primarily moved up one side of the ground, so certain players would be free on the other side. I thought maybe you might be onto something that I just have not noticed before.

I think that the best way to move the ball is also the most defended resulting in the ball moving up the congested wings. If I have time I'll look at the numbers on the latest preseason match and see if there was a pattern of use.

The general theory for any senior team from country football to amateurs & then up to AFL is if the ball comes in one side of defensive 50 it goes out the other side. The obvious theory is the volume of numbers will be on the side of the ground that the ball came in from leaving space on the other side (fat).

This helps to shift the defensive set up & hopefully open up the corridor at some stage during your ball movement forward. Coaches will evaluate which side the ball is coming in from more often & set up their best running wingman on the other side. Wind can often determine this, but clubs will also set up defensively to try to get the opposition to bring the ball into their forward 50 from the dead side.

Depending on the wind of course.

Yeah not sure it would be quite that predictable at AFL level. If the ball was to come into attacking 50 one side of the ground, and the directive was to always take it out the other side of the ground ( because there is more space) other teams would set up for that pretty quick.

Im loving the chatter about Chapman. He was probably the most "under the radar" player of our rebuild, but has shot up due to being composed, skilled, fierce at the contest and a good fellow outside of football.

If he keeps on plugging away there's no reason why he can't be top 3 In the rising star.

He reminds me of a young Scott Thornton.
is this 2 truths and a lie or what
pregame entertainment was a bunch of drunks from Albany singing sea shanties
some of the worst pregame entertainment we've ever had imo

So what is the story with walker?

Whose dog did he kick in the off-season?

Coach barely mentions him when discussing potential inclusions, media haven’t asked about him.

Did he and Chris try a fine cotton-esque ruse or something?

That’s what we should be asking the coach. Where’s Brandon?

While Valente’s mythical existence was fun. We don’t need another.

He started the preseason in rehab.

I really liked the sea shanties
from what i could tell on the day, you either really liked it, or really didn't. i fitted into the latter category (was not the music to hear at half time when we were getting smashed by the lions)

Interestingly he mentioned Walker over Clark!
Is that the media team monitoring the boards, and letting Fyfe know to mention Walker?

🤔🤔

If the next player interview includes them winking their right eye while swatting a fly away with their left hand we'll know.

I said "winking their right eye while swatting a fly away with their left hand" Brett et al.
