Rubbish. Just last week had a Friday and Saturday night with no games at the Melbourne CRICKET ground.

Edit: and round 4 and round 6 too.
Must admit I have no idea what you are talking about. So I will put it simply for you for the weekend of round 20 at the MCG:

Friday night: Collingwood v Carlton
Saturday night: Wallabies v All Blacks
Sunday 3:20: Richmond v Melbourne

Do you see any more days that they could play the two MCG games? Didn’t think so aye. Think you should read more carefully.

As you say. Thursday. Monday. Doesn’t need to be Friday at all.

Once again the AFL had the opportunity to play the showdown on Friday night in Round 20 Both teams in the top 8 currently and the last few have been absolutely awesome but they've gone with Collingwood v Carlton....

Collingwood have 4 of the 8 Friday night games, now whilst they've been great should the marquee spot really be hogged by one club??
Collingwood play 2 Friday night games over the first 15 rounds, it's not like we are hogging the slot, currently playing 5 games in a row on a Sunday.
Collingwood v Carlton was game of the year last year, this year in front of 90k there's no reason why it shouldn't be Friday night

On top of this, out of the 4 Friday night games we're reported to have been allocated, one is at the MCG against Carlton, one is a 'home' game against Brisbane at Marvel and the other 2 are away games against the Dogs and Port Adelaide.

If the reported fixture holds true, the only home Friday night games we will receive this year at the MCG will be our game against Richmond in round 3 and the round 20 game against Carlton. It's hardly 'rewarding the fans' for our performances / attendances to date, despite what the media and AFL wants everyone to believe.

In future years I'd like to see the AFL schedule some of the less exposed teams such as North and the Saints on a Friday night early in the season, when players are usually fresh and fans at least still have some optimism. If that's a Friday night game against one of the bigger clubs to maximise attendances then I'm all for it.

The league has committed to finalising those rounds well ahead of round 16 to lock in dates and times for rounds that have already been allocated match-ups.

AFL fixturing boss Travis Auld told the Herald Sun the league was keen to give fans clarity six weeks ahead of time and would release them before round 10.

But the league will leave open the round 24 floating fixture then lock it in several weeks ahead of time to ensure a blockbuster finish to the home-and-away season.
I hope we do play you guys on the Friday night in round 23.

Would be better if it was moved to the MCG as well.

Adelaide shafted imo, deserve Friday nights. Unfortunately, the Melbourne v Adelaide game falls on a week with three Marvel games (and one of those had to be Friday) and that would have been their best chance of a Friday night.

But what games are worth it?

Essendon away? We're probably the least worthy of the Marvel matchups. I'd probably have gone Saints-Demons though
Showdown? Can't due to MCG availability forcing MCG game to Friday Night
You guys away? Probably the only one worth it. But it's risky as they may not be sold on us yet.

If you suggest any of the other matches I laugh at you (Brisbane-Adelaide and Sydney-Adelaide might be a good matchup, but NEVER happening under the current tv deals)

I think we can all agree that currently as far as the AFL and media are concerned the AFL comprises “Collingwood and …some other teams.”

Disclaimer: Even I, as a lifelong Pies hater see them in their current iteration as an entertaining team and McRae almost makes them likeable. Ahhhh!
