Will Laird be suspended?

Neale had an arm free and didn’t use it to protect himself. I think he definitely tried to get the head on the ground to get the free.

I think Laird will probably get suspended though.
the rules have changed. you can’t slam an opponent into the ground anymore regardless of the outcome…I wish they’d take the same approach with punches.
he’ll get a week.

I can see a 1 week suspension offered, they'll challenge it, it goes to the tribunal, and then it's 50/50 whether he gets off or not. I reckon there'll be a media circus around it (similar to the JVR one) because Neale flops and doesn't protect himself at all.

There’s been a lot of flopping and staging for free kicks lately, small blonde forwards in particular.

I don't mean this our of Supercoach related frustration, but the AFL, IMO, will have no choice but to soften the ruling around sling tackles from next season.

Rules like these ones are generally designed to change player behaviour, which works most of the time. Unfortunately, players are still confused about what constitutes a dangerous tackle and we are seeing suspensions every single week. It's getting worse, not better. In saying that, I'd argue the tackles themselves are being graded on a technicality as opposed to a legitimate dangerous action.

Some common sense will have to be utilised.

JVR was different. you’re allowed to murder someone in a marking contest provided you’re making a reasonable attempt at the footy.

Yeah Jackson tempting if Hodor is out for a while. Better bye than DC too.

We need to wait on the Hondor news .
He's a good this week ..if only out short term ...could just hold .
Witts seems a good choice is out for awhile .

Our defence is usually so bad this doesn't surprise me. Would have likely changed the charge to high impact and increased to 3 weeks.

Seriously though, I can't believe it was graded medium impact. Really should have challenged to get it down to low.

As a hawks supporter I was hoping he would be fine. As a non owner in SC he should have been rubbed out for the rest of the season.

Blues, Swans & Dockers all challenging their 1 week suspensions.

Hopefully it influences Christian to not bother with Laird as there are no more available slots for challenge night!
