There is no downside to pick 18 when it relates to finishing ladder position.
stop it.............everyone knows the quickest way to a flag is a series of number one draft picks followed by a series of ratshit coaches.....

My delistings/trades

Ed Curnow (ret)
Plowman
Philp
Honey
Marchbank
Dow (Trade)
Fisher (Trade)

Unless we can get a genuine KPD I’d keep S.Durdin. We need a KPD to back up Weitering. If he can stay fit and he’s only 27

On Durdin, if he’s not the best key defender in all of the state leagues, then move him on.

If there’s better out there, bring them in.

I'd consider what we've invested in learning our systems and developing "connections" with the defensive group (as applicable and relative to talent differential)

Given where our first round pick lands this year and our lack of other currency we should definitely consider trading it. Historically the hit rate for first round picks 15+ isn't much better then 2nd rounders but clubs will still overpay for it particularly if there is a player they like there on draft night.

Last year Hathorn gave up pick 27, a F2 and a F3 for pick 18. Would be great if we could land a deal like that.

As far as I’m aware there was a rule that $80,000 of a rookie listed players contract is treated as outside the salary cap, with list spots so tight and O’Brien under contract for next year but probably not required given the depth of options we have to play the wing now I don’t think the cost to our salary cap will be that significant, if he were to be paid out I would be guessing somewhere between 50k-100k counting against our salary cap if we can’t find him another club which is probably unlikely he should move on for his own good anyway if he wants a future at the highest level.

Also for those interested in Elijah Hollands where do they see him playing for us ? I’ve watched a lot of him in the last few months purely because of his brother and the trade rumours linking him to us, however from what I’ve seen he’s too slow for our needs as a half forward and if played in the middle he makes an already slow midfield even slower he would be no quicker than any of Cripps, Cerra or Kennedy and only slightly quicker than Hewett. He’s an ok player but not really a need for us unless we are moving on from Kennedy and Hewett.

More Hun
Carlton full back Lewis Young remains determined to fight for his spot next year despite the trade market hotting up for under-utilised key position backs.
He has shuffled further down the pecking order with the newly re-signed Brodie Kemp dropped, Caleb Marchbank closing in on a new deal and Mitch McGovern re-signed and in the Blues best 22.
But having signed a new deal mid-season — and having bought a house in Melbourne — he will back himself in to win back his spot.
David Cuningham and Marchbank are in talks for new deals with Lochie Fogarty having just signed a new extension.

Who would Holland from GC replace in the current team/ fight a position for?
I can only think of a cage-match with his brother, winner takes all............

Twitter rumor - Dow has been offered a 1yr contract, decision to be made after the player exist meeting - no idea of the validity of the rumor
Seven players currently remain out of contract. Caleb Marchbank and David Cuningham are certainties to be re-signed, Dow has a decision to make on his future, but Carlton has a one-year offer in front of him.
