Cripps and Libba would be crazy scary dishing it out to Bont, Macrae, Treloar, Smith etc.
Thats nightmares right there
Id suspect they would find a way.The problem is they’d be kicking it to Danny Del Re because he’d be about all they’d be able to afford in their salary cap…

For over two decades the Carlton Football Club has been abysmal at list management.
Contracts? Don't get me started. Right now we've got several of the worst contracts in the business on our books that will cripple us for years. And the early 2000's when we were terrible we were also cheating the cap? Embarassing.
Unless we have high first round picks we have no ability to identify talent in the national draft. We also seem to mess up first round draft selections more than anyone else. SO MANY first round selection busts. YARRAN. LUCAS. WATSON. BOOTSMA. MENZEL. BOEKHORST. PETROVSKI-SETON. DOW. O'BRIEN. STOCKER. KEMP(?). Realllllly bad.
Since 2000 we have taken ONE player in the national draft outside of the first round who has gone on to play 150 or more games of AFL football. His name? Jarrad Waite. And he was a father/son. Of all the other 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks we have made in the last two decades Dennis ArmfieldPLAYERCARDSTARTJarrad Waite

We used to be pretty good in the rookie draft (Garlett, Casboult, Curnow, Jacobs, Jamison) but more recently these have gone to s**t too.
In the last 6 national drafts the only players we've taken who are playing regular AFL football are Walsh, DeKoning, Motlop, Durdin & Hollands. That is an abysmal outcome for SIX YEARS of drafting. Apart from Walsh they're all fringe players at best too.
We're also terrible at identifying talent via trades. Nic Newmanfor nothing was a steal, and Sam DochertyPLAYERCARDSTART24Nic Newman

We're also experts in trading high picks for duds. Here's some of our finest Silvagni specials:
Jaksch and Wiley for 2x 1st round picks
Lamb, Sumner & Phillips for 2x first round picks
Marchbank for 1x 1st round picks
McGovern for 1x 1st round picks
Setterfield for 1x 2nd round pick
In summary - We draft poorly. We trade poorly. We manage our cap poorly. We're the finest example the AFL has of terrible list management.
SOS was on the other end working for GWS at the timeI’m no sos fan but the boeky, Jakesh and Wiley deal was done prior to sos coming on board.
To each their own but IMO:It's weird, but when we drafted Fisher the expectation was the complete opposite. Just look at his draft profile:
Strengths: Contested footy, aggression, tackling, clean hands2016 AFL Draft prospects: Zac Fisher
With the draft less than a week away, get to know all of this year's top prospects with our 2016 AFL Draft profiles.www.zerohanger.com
Weaknesses: Size, injuries
"Fisher is a fierce inside midfielder, who knows how to find the footy. He was the only West Australianat at the Under-18 Championships to average over 20 disposals. He is not naturally quick or as gifted as some players, but he uses the ball well both on the inside and the outside, has good vision and works extremely hard."
His contested possession and tackle counts per year:
2017 = 5.25cp and 3.40 tackles per game
2018 = 7.85cp / 3.47 tackles
2019 = 7.0cp / 2.76 tackles
2020 = 5.75cp / 2.5 tackles (shortened games)
2021 = 6cp / 2.4 tackles
2022 = 6.04 cp / 2.04 tackles
2023 = 4.8cp / 1 tackles
Somehow we have completely beaten the best aspects of Fisher out of him, replacing an undersized but tough and aggressive midfielder with a conditional forward. This one is completely on us as a club and our poor development, to be honest.
Stengle says hi!No so-called DHs at Geelong - just tough, skilful, committed footballers.
Stengle says hi!
West Coast are an exercise of how holding on to too many aging stars should go. How Geelong avoided injury with their cast of 30 somethings last year, I have no idea.On another note... as insanely talented as Harley Reid is, WCE simpky have to trade pick 1 this year. They need about 15 new players and with go home factor Reid would completely blow that joint up if they took him and then requested to go home a year or two later.

Wouldn't mind a 31 year old Darling coming across for a few seasons...
Unbelievably theres every chance things get worse for them next season. Shuey, Hurn, Nic Nat all probably finishing up and Yeo, Barrass and Ryan all could be on the trade table to try get some more picks. Please... Gary Rohan is the king DH if the AFL. Ollie Henry is the most selfish (least liked) player. Stengle is a conformed DH. Success masks all sorts of issues.
He's barely missed a game across his career, kicked 30+ goals in 10 of the past 12 seasons, 40+ goals in 7 of those seasons. Struggled this year in a shizen side but would be more than handy alongside McKay and Curnow.Was preparing to hit the like button until that last sentence.

And a future first that ended up with Brisbane, with which they selected Berry.Nope. #7 for Jaksch, Wiley and #19
Nope. #28 for Lamb, Sumner, Phillips and Plowman
Not the full story. Geelong's 2017 1st rounder (approx 16), #45 and #58 for Marchbank, Pickett and GWS' 2017 2nd rounder.
Technical. We gave up #26 and #28 and Sydney being the third prong of that trade gave the Crows #13.

Without even going back and checking the rest it would appear that you have forgotten Kade Simpson 4th rounder in 2002.For over two decades the Carlton Football Club has been abysmal at list management.
