rookies is the hardest and most important part i think.. then comes your mid pricers.. premos will be premos. they go up and down and are always around that top price tier.

im gonna try more mid pricers this season. look for any value i can find. fyfe cunners clark etc
I think there are a few standouts among the cheaper premos-in-waiting category this year too. Players who will be the obvious beneficiary of multiple departures, like Jai Newcombe and Tom Green.

i was aiming for those guys to be my premos. the ones that have a 100k price rise in them easily. e.g. cripps last year (despite injury concerns)

MR: How are you going to balance the abundance of talls you have in the squad: English, Naughton, Lobb, Ugle-Hagan, Bruce, Jones, Keath, Gardner? Is Darcy going to play forward and is the young fella from the most recent draft, Jedd Busslinger ready to play back?

LB:
I think the young guys need a separate category. Sam Darcy hasn’t done a pre-season. He’s come back and he’s not ready now, he hasn’t done a main session. We all think in the future he will be a forward-ruckman or a ruck-forward, but while he’s trying to find his feet at AFL level we have to make sure he can play four quarters. He wasn’t ready for that last year. And he’s a long way away from being anywhere near the footballer he’s going to be, even for next year. Jedd Busslinger is going to be a slow burn. He’s a long way away from playing AFL footy. He’s a project. But, yeah, we’ve got a lot of depth with our keys.

OK you North Supporters buttox Makeshift Park with all the talk about your Rookies who plays and who dosen't?

Below is North's R23 team from last season and Noteable absentees are Ziebell,Hall,Stephenson,CCJ,Xerri & Tarryn Thomas.
Also there 4 players that they have got Logue,Tucker,Shiels & Howe. When also you add in Phillips who should be a lock.
So who comes out and who comes in and how many of these Rookies are really going to get many games?

My best guess of who gets omitted from that round 23 line up is: Bonar, Mahoney, Dawson, Lazzaro.

Perez, Young and Taylor could go either way.

JHF is obviously gone too.

So that’s 5-8 gone from that side.

ROUND ONE ROOKIE-MIDPRICER INCLUSIONS:
The two I am very confident will play round 1 are Comben (he’s our only real CHF) and Phillips (who will spend a significant amount of time in midfield rotations).

TT will return too, and the 550k question (as far as SC is concerned) is whether he will be reinvented as a playmaker off half back. Logue is also a lock, but probably not SC relevant.

Sheezel is a probable inclusion because he’s a unique talent and apparently he’s been very impressive in preseason sessions. Goater I’m going to put in the probable camp too.

I also expect to see 1-3 of Shiels, Howe and Tucker in early games because our fitness in recent years has been terrible and our wingman in particular have struggling to play out entire games.

AFTER ROUND ONE:
Wardlaw I expect will benefit from more conditioning before entering seniors. There’s no rush to add another inside mid.

Drury I expect will come in later too, but everyone who has seen him at training appears to have been very impressed with him. He’s also unique in our lineup as a really small but already well built dual sided forward, so he may well surprise with how early he appears.

I think you’d struggle to find many North supporters on this whole site who thinks Ziebell will spend a great deal of time in the seniors from here on in. Not exactly sure how often Greenwood fits in: personally, he’s at least sixth down my midfield rotation list. That’s after LDU, Simpkin, Cunners, Phillips, Powell.

Not sure yet whether Clarko will opt for 1 or 2 rucks, but Goldstein is still our number one. Wouldn’t be including Xerri or CCJ in my SC side at this stage.

My best 22 guess.
Hall, McKay, corr
Lmac, Logue, young
Tucker, cunners, Scott
Tarryn, comben, zurhaar
Sleevo, Larkey, sheezel
Goldy, Simpkin, ldu
Phillips, Powell, ccj, goater.
Best guess I've probably forgotten someone obvious.

Can any West Coast supporters give me a lock/probable/maybe/unlikely classification on Ginbey, Hewett and Chesser for round 1?

From the other side of the country, they all look reasonably probable?
Chesser lock - probable
Hewett maybe
Ginbey maybe - unlikely

I see our team as;

Hurn, Barrass, Cole
Duggan, Gov, Yeo
Hough, Culley , Sheed
Jones, Allen, Petrucelle
Ryan, Darling, Cripps
Naitanui, Kelly, Shuey

Interchange; Jamieson, Chesser, Hunt - 2 spots left for the likes of; XON, Bazzo, Hewett, Ginbey

How confident are you in Powell this year? I've been holding him in my keeper league team and has shown glimpses. One more season?

He's a possibility but not much more than that. He is noticeably bigger and seems fitter but we have better depth this year so he is probably borderline best 22.

That's what I feared. Absolute pig at u18 level, but hasn't translated. Thanks for the insight.

If no rookies present down back could Tom Cole @ 182k be an option?

Seems to have decent JS along with McKenna - Wilmot/Chesser hopefully play :thumbsu:
Cole is about the only bloke on our list who can shut down dangerous smalls so you can bank on him being in the 22 although not sure how much he’s going to score

From the GWS academy via 2021 rookie draft
Caught the eye of some keen Bomber watchers this past year as a strong bodied/young guy with a love for hard tackling.
Might be worth keeping an eye on

GWS draftee Max Gruzewski will undergo surgery after dislocating his knee during pre-season training, according to the Herald Sun.

The number 22 pick in the 2022 National Draft will miss several months and faces a delayed start to his first season in the league.

He suffered an injury to the same knee earlier in the year.

Gruzewski was selected out of the Oakleigh Chargers and was among a number of Giants draftees including Aaron Cadman, Harry Rowston, Darcy Jones and Toby McMullin.

The 193cm versatile utility has played as a key defender and a key forward at under 18 level.

Was a surprise early pick small forward type .

But rookies are warm bodies

JJ worked hard after getting the boot from the cats .

I thought he has something...but he didn't work hard enough at the cats 😸
