Not keen on Chol at all. Lazy and will just be like CCJ.
The man kicked 44 goals last year.
If CCJ did that we’d call him the next prime McKernan

I will be very very surprised if Darcy ends up a North player without us trading 2 or 3. Pleasantly surprised ofcourse.
If he wasn't a free agent next season then pick 3 for Darcy isn't too bad. He has AA potential next season and is only 25.

However, given that we could get him with no cost in draft capital in 12 months it is a bit too much.

Freo were 2 wins off being 10th and were a finals side in 2022. I think that pick 10 is a fair offer. It is locking in certainty in value for them.

Darcy could get injured or have a down year and not get band 1, or they could finish 5th again and Darcy compo gives them pick 15.

So we can offer them 14 and a PP F1. Or, we can trade for pick 10 and offer them that.

Don't know what happened to him this year, and for sure that would be a concern, but this was Chol last year- nothing to sneeze at
in 2022 he kicked 3 goals against three of this years prelim finalists, and 2.1 and 7 marks against the fourth

Whilst I understand sometimes you need to strike while the irons hot, when there’s as much down side as upside, or even more downside maybe it’s best to wait.

Darcy would require a fair amount of draft capital to get him out of his contract 1 year early.

He’s also just had major surgery on his ankle.

It would be much more prudent to wait until next year, assessing how he’s recovered and getting him for free rather than spending up big this year.

Unless it’s Darcy for our 2 future end of first rounders I’d say wait and try next year.

Chol would be a nice addition because he would be potential depth at KPF, KPD and ruck.

I don't know if I'd want him in our healthy best 22 when we are back in finals but he's pretty good as depth.
We are 3-4 years away from thinking about finals.

Chol is 26 turning 27. Apart from Larkey, we have almost no one over 190cm that has kicked over 40 goals in the last 3 years.

By the time he is finishing up his career in his early 30s, we should have found some younger KP talent.

NORTH MELBOURNE

The Kangaroos are going to look even thinner in the backline next year, with key defender Ben McKay poised to depart for Essendon through free agency. Veteran ruckman Todd Goldstein is also out the door, with Collingwood, Essendon and St Kilda all potential suitors. North Melbourne is firmly in the market for a few experienced players, though, including Sydney’s Dylan Stephens and Carlton’s Zac Fisher. The club has also been linked to Gold Coast forward Mabior Chol. A big national draft also awaits, with the Kangaroos already holding pick two and likely to receive pick 3 as free agency compensation for McKay.

LIKELY INS: Dylan Stephens, Zac Fisher

LIKELY OUTS: Ben McKay, Todd Goldstein

[PLAYERCARD]Dylan Stephens[/PLAYERCARD] would be a great fit at North Melbourne. Picture: Phil Hillyard

Trading a heap of draft capital for Darcy would be so stupid.
Agreed. Although I’m not against throwing up pick 14 and a future pp 1st as has been suggested in here.
Our ruck options with goldy gone are x and CCJ and that’s just ****ed. Maybe X can take the next step as the main man next year but up to this point he’s been mostly shit.

Carlton expects utility Zac Fisher to ask for a trade to North Melbourne this week, despite no formal request at last week’s exit interview.
Fisher had been keen to stay but has been made aware his chances will be limited at the Blues, so the 25-year-old is getting his head around a move to Arden Street.
Dylan Stephens is also expected to find his way to the Roos, who have been handed three extra end-of-first-round picks over the 2023 and 2024 national drafts.
A deal of four years, with a fifth-year trigger, would give Fisher financial security after being dropped multiple times by the Blues this season.
Carlton’s list spot crunch was shown last week when Lochie O’Brien was delisted, despite having a contract for 2024, which meant he was paid out by the Blues.
Fisher is a Carlton salary dump - no draft pick that doesn't start with a 5 (and has two digits)

I'm assuming they are less reluctant now to offload him given that ljack came into his own when Darcy got injured maybe a similar situation to dees.

They also are trying to lure lmac mk2 back too and feel they need to first rders for him which in itself is abit of a joke
