HF: Half Forward Flank | Centre Half Forward | Half Forward Flank
FF: Forward Pocket | Full Forward | Forward Pocket

Please vote for the six players you'd want to fill those positions. Voting ends Feb 22nd.

Framework: We are pretending that everyone on the list is fit, uninjured and unsuspended, the only thing holding players back being age and inexperience. This isn't a Round O team either, just the Best 22 team against a random opponent in random weather conditions in a random round.

In the poll above are every player I've seen listed as a forward in either DreamTeam and/or the Best 22 thread... Happy Voting! :smallfooty:

Only one I struggled a bit with was Chandler vs ANB. Went for ANB as he's the more established workhorse, and Chandler dropped off a lot towards the end of last year even though he's probably more talented.

Agree. Chandler has had 5 years on the list for a good stretch of 6-8 games to start last year. Real make or break season for him imo.

Chandler was disappointing in the last 5 games of the year as he only managed 2 goals, and 0 in the last 3 games. However he has a lethal snap on him and conjure up a goal from nowhere. I want him in the side.
He was also one of the BOG in the Australia day intra club game with 4 frankfurts.

I also want Spargo in the side. Yes, he's a low possession gatherer but he hardly ever misses from the set shot and he's the smartest user of the pill in the forward area.

Chandler is a walk up start in this forward line I reckon, its between ANB and McAdam imo when everyone is fit and went ANB for team balance.

Our style of play was responsible for a lot of our forwards going missing. Chandler was great in games where we tried to be a normal team and move the ball fast and he had space to operate, much like Kozzy and ANB. Slow long bomb predictable ball movement is ****ed.

One of these guys is going to be on the bench anyway so it's not a huge change regardless.

Agree. I was hoping we wouldnt use Max forward as much this year, rest him on the bench. But going off the footage from what we've seen in practice games I dont think that will be the case. This is where I worry and think our F50 will get clogged up with the predictable slow bombing. Plus hes getting on, give him a spell on the bench, no need to run him into the ground.

There's a fair bit of competition for those bench spots. The starting 18 in the poll isn't going to have Brayshaw, Billings, Chandler, Hunter, Turner, Howes, Salem, Woewodin, Spargo, Laurie, Tholstrup, Hore, Sparrow. Most of those guys are going to have reasonable cases to be included.

Luckily half the squad will be injured, so it'll be easier for the selection committee 🤗

It's annoying because he's so dominant when he goes back and frees up Lever or May to launch our attacks.

Yep. And all he does in the F50 is stand there with his hand raised 90% of the time coz hes so knackered, clogging up space for leads, creating slow ball movement just by being there. Then like a moth to a flame our mids bomb it on their captains head and make it easy for the opposition. If we move the ball fast I dont mind plonking him at full forward coz he'll get one on ones but we havent been doing that at all.

Not that it matters to me coz I wasn't voting for him but why wasn't Sparrow an option here FootyGuy13 ?

except we didn't have a Best 22 thread and DreamTeam didn't have him as a forward. DreamTeam also didn't have Rivers or Pickett as midfield options which leads me to my question:

Sparrow can play forward?

Sparrow can play forward?
I don't think he's very good but he does start in our F50 90% of the time.

Weird that dream team don't have him as a forward/mid

Maybe his % of time spent in the midfield went up last year with Oliver out that they only named him as a mid this year?
Attended 45% of our total CBAs for the year and only spent 73% TOG, so don't think he was starting forward too often (CBA positioning is what they primarily use for those comps).

Yeah, but I bet CBA's were much less than 45% in games that Oliver played. When I said 90% of the time he starts forward I meant for his career

Definitely went up for the first couple of games after Oliver was injured, but tapered off again when they threw Brayshaw into the middle

Same here for me Les.

I think McAdam is quite good defensively, and Petty is good for a big guy. Think you’ve got the height just right, any taller would be too much.
I've always said I'm the most astute poster on this board. :whitecheck:

He got a 3 year deal last year because why not reinforce the area of the ground we have the most depth in unnecessarily so he will be fine. Despite this I do like him so hope he has a big year in the 1s.

Additional reason not to overwork him is if he gets injured we have...Schache as a replacement?
