He's not a genuine KPD height but Caleb Marchbank played that role well during the finals. Thought that he gave height to Hipwood but played him well last week. His default position is to attack.

Look, there is always the chance if injury but if he can stay on the park and get through what may well be his first pre season we will have a genuine player on our hands. Might also allow us to experiment a bit with Kemp.
Hopefully he can continue to stay injury free and live up to his early potential as a tall defender…
Thought he was really good against the lions, had looked fumbly and off the pace at times since coming back amongst having some good moments as well, his missed a fair bit of footy so he’s definitely been rusty and also has his flaws so see how he goes…

He’s not the proper KPD which we actually need, pitty Young’s game went backwards this year, certainly looking forward to what Marchbank can produce if he stays fit…

If geelong got a first rounder for Jordan clark then how is it far fetched that fisher, who’s played 100 games and is versatile, is worth around the same?
Because Clark was traded as a highly promising 20yo, Fisher at 25 has fallen out of our side and is at a crossroads of sorts.

why do I feel a greater sense of loss with 2 than 25? discuss............

I'd feel the same. It's not about the PR or BigFooty opinions as some are cynically suggesting. I'd like to think I know what I'm watching and what's important in footy.

Dow is by no means a complete footballer, but geez he's good in tight. He's a fantastic extractor and I get excited about guys who can consistently win the footy at centre bounces and get momentum going your way in a 6-6-6 situation. Some of Crippas best work is when he turns the tide with constant centre bounce clearances.

He reads the ruck contest really well unlike others he can win the ball without it being hit to him.
Wherever he plays next year he will be an asset to them regardless of flaws which every player has anyway.

Answer to an often asked question this time of year.
Is it worth stickying this to top of page also?

Any thoughts on chances of these guys having a game in 2024? Why/ why not?

Binns
Lemmey
O’keeffe
Akuei
Mirkov
Philp (assuming re-rookie & fit)
Irish lads
Binns I think may get the odd game, very tough though with our wing options. Think it will be another development year for him, most likely see him transition into an onball role in the VFL.

Lemmy I think will still be far too raw.

O'Keefe, probably a bit to raw as well.

AKuei, I don't think so but lets see, would be a big step up from being fringe VFL to AFL.

Markov, we would like to think he will come on but I have doubts over footy being his go. Would love if I was wrong.

Philp i think will end up in the VFL somewhere.

Irish lads never say never but would think unlikely.

Pre-2014 we got Cripps but apart from that it was a disaster with Lucas, Bootsma, Menzel, Watson (all first round) and others.

Of the drafted players no longer on our list from the SOS era, SPS was traded for the proverbial peanuts and was recently delisted by WCE, and Stocker was taken as a DFA by St Kilda. All the rest unfortunately did not get another shot so far anywa.

Not sure I’d be too critical of SOS and the team, TDK was a roundly criticised selection which appears a win, Walsh was not rated with several saying he would not be best in his class and he has shown so far that he is. We have gone from bust top selections and all the rest as failures to generally getting our top selection right and finding a player or 2 with later selections.

I think Austin has done well so far.

The pressure is different with the top selection being a late teens pick or later (due to pre-draft trades). It’s more about filling holes and succession planning than it is about find the best player in the draft.

Is Dow gone? Pure speculation currently.

Fish has a significant carrot, though not yet decided.

Is Cuningham safe? Not yet signed. Did he do enough? Marchbank did.

I’d re-consider O-Mac. Can play forward too.

E. Hollands is gaining traction in media.

E Hollands for Honey to plug hf list profile gap.
Binns already covers LoB.
Lots of coverage for Plowman
Philp and Ed most glaring gap for mine.

Interesting to see how we go with our first pick in the draft. Best available or profile specific.

As mentioned no less than 1000 times we need a kpd. Whilst I am bullish that our game stands up with only one true kpd in Weitering and two mid sized defenders in mcgovern/marchbank/kemp, investing now to develop the next kpd makes a lot of sense with young and durdin as short term backups.

l believe Binns will be ready to play senior footy next season, his form was outstanding this season, people forget how often do you have a full list to pick from
He can play 10-12 games next year, need another endurance quick mid, he may be the one.

I think he will add a lot. I think we will want him in the middle though and he hasn't had much development there in senior footy. Could fix a lot of our onball issues when you look at what we lack. Lacking a two way running mid with good agility, speed and who can find the footy. That's probably him.

Some questions on his kicking which are justified but IMO that will likely improve. Is he strong enough to effectively tackle the AFL players? He might be.

Lets see him get those big numbers playing onball in a few VFL games and have a look at him in there at AFL level. For all we know we might find the next big (little) thing.
