(Pick 5) Adelaide - Key defenders? Maybe mid sized forwards?
(Pick 6) Bulldogs - will they even take a player?
(Pick 7) Gold Coast - see Bulldogs?
(Pick 8) Fremantle - small forwards I believe
(Pick 9) Colligwood - Key defensive depth?
(Pick 10) Carlton - runners / midfielders?
(Pick 11) Port - unsure, ruckman maybe?
(Pick 12) Melbourne - unsure,
(Pick 13) Essendon - Small forward or flanker types
(Pick 14) North Melbourne -
(Pick 15) Richmond -
(Pick 16) Brisbane -
(Pick 17) Adelaide -
(Pick 18) Bulldogs -
(Pick 19) Carlton -

(Pick 21) Adelaide -
(Pick 2) Brisbane -

Bulldogs would slot another pick into the second round

Jack Hutchinson (Collingwood VFL), George Grey (Frankston), Oskar Smartt (Essendon VFL) probably the three leading candid dates from the VFL. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a number of clubs pass in this years edition.

I would think Hawthorn would be taking Max Hall.

North will take a Key forward before a KPD - we have comben, 2 x Dawsons, pink and nyuon to pick from as backs, with Logue coming back; the only key forwards on the list are Larkey, sellers (unproven) and Maley (hasn’t played at all).

West Coast now has a pick also.

Oskar Smartt has a lot of fans on our board.

We'll take someone that no one has ever heard of, our board will melt while the blokes tipped to go early and hyped up by the media don't get picked up at all or go late and turn out to be duds.

Plus we'll probably pickup a Richmond vfl player of some sort.

Phoenix Spicer on our radar, especially now Weightman is out.
Bulldog fans have mixed feelings about this

Apparently the Bulldogs are keen on Hall. Hawks surely go for height. KPF maybe. Or maybe another small defender to release Hardwick fwd.
The Hawks already have the Hardwick-release-fwd base covered with Seamas Mitchell, Massimo D’Ambrosio, Bodie Ryan or Bailey Macdonald.

Surprisingly the Hawks do not have a positional hole in their list. The “need” is for talent.

A like-for-like replacement for Sam Butler (broken leg) would be Oscar Smartt.
Max Hall has been great for Box Hill but I cannot see him getting an AFL game at the Hawks in front of others… he may do better at another team in need of his hard nosed skill set. The Dogs seem a good fit.

Personally, I am hoping for yet another rabbit-out-of-the-hat trick from the recruiting staff. If the Hawks select a unicorn in the rough, I’ll be happy.

The problem is that the best player available was the same kind of player over and over again. It built a hole in the list.

If a player slightly less talented but a bigger need is available, I'd rather them.
How many draft picks do you think North have had?

The only glaring mistake that was made was when they decided to take Will Phillips over Logan McDonald, but otherwise North have drafted a pretty versatile group with their first few picks each year.

The problem is the fact that all of the senior players were trash and they stupidly delisted too many at the same time, rather than staggering it over several years.

Let’s go over North’s first few selections in each draft since this more or less all began back in 2020.

2020:
Will Phillips (inside mid), Tom Powell (inside mid/fwd).

2021:
Jason Horne-Francis (mid/fwd), Josh Goater (athletic medium sized def/tall winger), Paul Curtis (small forward).

2022:
Harry Sheezel (drafted as a forward/mid, but has played predominantly as a rebounding def at AFL level), George Wardlaw (inside mid), Brayden George (medium sized forward).

2023:
Colby McKercher (outside mid/rebounding def), Zane Duursma (med-tall general forward), Taylor Goad (athletic ruckman), Wil Dawson (tall defender), Riley Hardeman (medium rebounding def/winger).

That’s not exactly the same player over and over again. The Phillips over McDonald selection was a disaster, but otherwise the drafting has been pretty good.

The hole that you speak of was created well before this list build, when the list manager and recruiters at the time had several years of absolutely putrid drafting, and so now North only have a small handful of decent players over the age of 25, which is a disaster and why the club is in the dire position that it’s in.

I reckon North are more likely to take someone like Noah Howes than Jacob Blight.

North have got a few key defensive players coming back from injury and I’d suggest they already have a couple of Jacob Blight types on their list.

When it comes to KPF’s though, the cupboard is bare. They have Larkey, Maley (who hasn’t even played a game) and then a couple of 190ish cm guys.

Blight would be a safer selection than Howes, but Howes ceiling is a lot higher and he looks like he could be anything.

Can’t say Crows need KPDs currently, particularly with Murray back soon. Worrell’s out for a while, but he more plays a 3rd tall role

We’ve been linked to Kobe Ryan and Luke Beecken recently

Freo have been linked to isiah winder

Patrick Weckert is getting some interest and I’ve heard that North are one of those clubs

One could argue not drafting Curtin this past year was a mistake given the lack of quality at KPD. I get that North drafted Will Dawson later on, but the position is too important and too neglected to not take a top 5 prospect when one's available IMO.

Kallan Dawson isn't good enough for the AFL, Pink and Nyuon don't look like anything special, Comben is a perennial injury risk and Will Dawson is very young. Sometimes, when you have the quantity, you don't have the quality. But if North reckon a KPF out there will be a better player than Blight, that's fair enough, it sounds like a need too.

Geordie Payne too inefficient. Not to say he can't crack it but that kid needs to use the ball better.
Played footy with him and I’d say that would be the knock. Capable in the air and likes to fly around the ground. But mainly as an inside midfielder who knows where the goals are when forward, can play pretty well forward. Footy iq wise.

I think we will go best available. Maybe Max Hall. We like plucking someone out of Box Hill.

Noah Howes makes sense for North.

But, based on nothing more than discovering his highlights reel and then watching it three times over the past 12 hours, I'd go to the other end of the spectrum, and take Frank Szekely with pick 1.
He is the guy I'd love the Lions to take in the MSD, incredibly fast and elusive player.

Max Hall(hard nosed mid), Will McLachlan(clever forw) or Iliro Smit(ruck/kpf) would do for us imo

Others from the CTL I like

Joe Pike(contested ruck) 203cm geel
Jordan Doherty(athletic ruck) 199cm dand
Dayten Uerata(fast mid) bend
Ben Hopkins (intercepting defender) dand
