Heading up for this one. I have read earlier our record is shite up there but if the boys come to play with pressure and intent, the past stands for not much. McCartin out is big. I haven’t had a lot of confidence in us since the Freo game (apart from the second half of GWS giving it some life) but the first three quarters last week has made me feel much better about how we go about it. Coming out of the last five with scalps against GWS, Melb and Sydney would be quite telling with our constant ever growing injury list.

Looking forward to it 100%

Sydney is a great test. If we get close or win we are right there in with a shout this year. Looking forward to it

Feel we have a brutal run of games now that Essendon are contending also for top 4. They have 2 easy games next 2.

After playing Dees, Pies, Cats, GWS, we now have Sydney, Suns, Port, Essendon and Cats. That's a really tough stretch with Essendon a real threat & Port away.

Our one easier game is GC which isnt that easy when compared to other sides who are looking at Richmond, WCE, North etc.

The above is crucial in the context of ending up top 4. Doubt we can win the flag from outside the 4 with our brutal style along with injury prone key players.

Swans at the SCG are a different proposition than at the MCG.

H is our fastest player and he also runs a 6:30 2k apparently, which is rapid and faster than Nick Daicos runs it

Freakshow

Obviously there are pro’s and con’s but I actually think Harry should be the match for the Lizard. H is probably the only player we have who could keep up with him and it’ll make Blakey accountable on a very good opponent.

I reckon it’s awareness not pace
Agree, also watching the replay each time, as part of his kicking action he lifts the ball up before guiding it down, and each time they got him between the lift and getting it down to his foot rather than guiding it straight down. It's a strange little idiosyncrasy of his kicking action but does delay his disposal a fraction and got him caught multiple times.

Id give the job to Kennedy who torched petracca at the centre. Forced Melbourne to play him forward to get the ball. Hewett is also a chance but his defence hasn’t been as good as 2022.
Heeney can be dangerous forward as well. Kennedy would have his measure at centre bounce contests, but if Heeney plays forward I think Cincotta might get the job.

As for Papley, Boyd would be a good match up.

Yep both ticks for mine, they’ll never be big lads but they are aerobic freaks

Elijah plays very hard for a skinny bloke, Ollie is the same but is about 5kg behind his brother

They’ll be great
And under 40 games between them.
I think the negative narrative around Ollie needs to be reigned in a bit. We will love watching him lift 17-18 & 19 as one of our favourites

Just casting an eye over form lines and I really don’t like it when this phrase is used, but Sydney haven’t really beaten anyone thus far.
Demons opening at home.
Pies, Bombers early when their form was questionable.
Lost to Tiges.
Since have defeated wce, haw, gc, gws and a flat freo.
Got the wins, but I think we have been really sharpened up with our past month and should be primed to take this lot down.
8 day break, them returning from the west on a day less. No mccartin who does well
usually on Charles.

Out - cez ( pitto)
In - Williams to sub.(cunners for speed)

Blues by 31 points in a well controlled game til the end.

Our issue
I'd be sending him to The Speed Factory during the off season along with Binnsy. It's the mob that Harry and Ben McKay went to a year or two back to improve their speed and technique.

Russell isn't a specialist sprints coach, so I wouldn't trust him to teach them proper technique or even correct drills. It's not rocket science, but something that can be taught by most sprints coaches to add a few extra metres to athletes.

I watched a video of H doing the sprint drills with The Speed Factory coach, and you could see that his technique had impoved - which is now reflected on the field. Can't find the video, but even Finbar looked good....and he had possibly the worst running technique I've ever seen on an AFL listed player!!!

Anyway, this is getting off track of the thread title. Blues by plenty :thumbsu:😍
Sounds good. Anything that helps.

Yes. Go blues! Bring our best and we are in this up to our eyeballs.
