We have no obvious plan when we go forward.

It's obvious round after round.
Dont forget to add to that - part of the plan is missing gimmes ...

66 forward entries V 45 and they still won....

absolute Bullshit efforts from nuffie VFL midget forwards.

We just lack the ball skills and polish that teams like Geelong, GWS and Collingwood have.
Those teams look so much more professional than we do.

Need Saad, Gov, Cerra and Martin in for much needed class.

Long season though, we might be a bit up and down while we are waiting for the cavalry to come back.

Good thing no injuries today!

Really disappointing loss, we certainly like to make things difficult for ourselves and just like the Crows game, feel we should have come away with more.

The amount of work we have to do to get a goal compared to our opposition is a concern, we beat Geelong on nearly every metric today except the score board, over 20 more inside 50s with two big forwards and we couldn’t capitalise and our poor kicking for goal has cost us another win.

Our starts to the 3rd and 4th quarters really summed up our day, the start of the 3rd we had the first three f50 entries and we butchered them all, only for Geelong to run the ball up the ground and score a goal, even worse the start of the 4th where we had the first 3 shots at goal, all set shots, miss them all and Geelong bang on a few.

A few players today had a big chance today to cement their positions or correct a dip in form and were disappointing, Carrol looks a long way off the pace and Cowan didn’t play well and Durdin missing from directly in front when we had a bit of momentum was frustrating.

There’s still a lot of positives outside of great individual performances from Cripps, Walsh, Kennedy, Pitt, Harry, the team has started to win the ball at the contest and as mentioned, we beat Geelong on nearly every metric, a bit more composure from a few players going forward and kicking for goal and the game is a lot different.

Good take and agree. The game ran for nearly 6.5 minutes after Acres’ second goal after we booted 4 goals in 5.5 minutes. There was plenty of time to snag the lead and the 6-6-6 rule facilitates the ability to score quick from the centre bounce.

There was 3:41 remaining and we were 8 points down, not sure how that means the game is over.

My counter to that would be that there is absolutely a method, it’s just our execution, both in terms of leading to the kicker and also the kicker’s execution of that all important final kick.

We lead to the kicker 10% of the time.

Our players don't work hard enough anywhere on the field to get seperation, too many kicks to contests.

We have no poise or patience.

Thus we turn it over so much and gift easy goals to the opposition.

And multiple times this game players were trying to take chest marks while hotly contested rather than stick their hands out to make it harder for the defenders to defend.

We win 50 entries almost every week. We did last year too. So do Melbourne. Yet both of us have low conversion of goals to entries. Maybe because we get there from stoppage and clearances when teams are set up behind the ball. We kick into congestion. As compared to Geelong today who lost stoppage and clearance but go forward from transition when the field has been spread and they enter to an open forward line.
Being stoppage dominant clearly has benefits, but also might create difficulty up forward.

We have still scored 98, 117, 105 last 3 weeks. The way we have been playing since Pitt has come back has been a very high press all in on contested ball, but we have conceded way too easily when it goes into our defensive 50. Today 28 scoring shots from 45 Geelong entires.

Don't think it was coaching, players rushed most of the game, didn't show composure and our execution suffered

Even with set shots, we didn't take the allocated 30 seconds

Sorry, i dont mean coaching specifically today, i mean in general how we go forward, how many entries we need to get a goal, how we tend just to bomb long.

Lots of kicks to Harry and Charlie today, where the player had no business in kicking to them, out of position or out numbered, we still kicked to them.

Interested in your thoughts Arrow, i have loved our intent, we dont give up, we can score quickly and we are hard at it, but our decision making, composure, skills, i50 entries are terrible.

Is it a coaching issue or is it a individual player issue?

The start of the 3rd and 4th quarters where we had all of the ball, the first 3 or 4 forward 50 entries, stuffed them all and then Geelong ran the ball forward and score a goal, at the start of the 4th we had the first 3 shots at goal.

I dont think AFL players are stupid, so i lean towards a coaching issue.

So Voss missed our first 3 scoring shots of the last that could have put us in front??

Cripps had 23 champion data points. Great game. Walsh 18. Also great.

Our bottom 5 let us down badly. TDK also his lowest rated game for the year due to the misses.

Elijah continues to put the numbers out there.

Looking forward to replacing our bottom 5.

Cats class, ability to find team mate in space when under pressure was well ahead of our efforts tonight.

Blues were let down by the bottom 6-8 badly today. So many scrub kicks, rank turnovers, missed goals and lost defensive contests.

I think with a full side we’d smoke ‘em.

I still have lingering concerns that our poor composure and turnover gifts are SO prevalent throughout our list we will always find it hard to win against the best sides.

But our burst is electric. When the pressure is cranked and the midfield is clicking, we can do more damage than anyone in the league in 10-15 minutes.

I’m glad Voss has harped on in his press conference about defensive pressure. That’s three games in a row where it feels like every time the opposition goes forward they score goals. The entries teams are getting against us are way too straightforward, and it’s why they’re not missing their shots on goal.

Kudos to the team for trying to hang in there.

Two days less to prepare for the Pies worries me. But hopefully the boys can use the loss to refocus. And playing at the G rather than coming off a Marvel game should assist in ensuring the players aren’t as sore.

We must win on Friday night.
He has chosen not to play Cincotta 3 weeks running who is very good at shutting down space and applying pressure.

Baffles me.
