Yeh it's a tough one because Pies also had Hill and Schultz with Boyd taking one of those.

Got to get Boyd playing a more attacking role off HB. Like Saad

Cincotta is good enough to shut someone down as is Cowan

I want Saad and Boyd using the ball off HB as they are great ball users and can create. McGovern as well

Push Williams up to Wing or HF

A defence of

Cincotta Durdin McGovern
Boyd Weitering Saad Newman

Is as good as any

I'm still a fan of the Weitering, McGovern and Kemp structure for most games. Marchbank obviously interchangeable with Kemp but I'd personally have Kemp slightly ahead overall. We looked our best with that structure last year

Does anyone have an idea why Orazio is so out of form?

He's been out of form since 2017 and unsighted at AFL level since 2021.

I'm okay with the gamble but it's unrealistic to have exepcted him to have any meaningful impact given his history.

The only thing strange about the entire situation is the two year contract.

If not Durdin (I think he helps Weitering) then Kemp is a good option.

Marchbank I’m not fussed, but Voss loves him

When Cripps is down on form or beaten by oppo playing close attention our next mid needs to lift.

Kennedy should have played. I think Voss made a mistake making him the sub.
Fantasia and CDurdin were the team choices I was most disappointed in seeing. 1 out of the 3 including Owies should play.

I would have had Carroll and Kennedy in the starting line up with Kemp as sub

Boyd needs to take on more run off half back. He's fast and is the best kick at the club.

But it's our overall pressure and team defence that needs to lift. I fear it won't until players like Fogarty return. Which just shouldn't be the case.
Our defence needs to be settled, it's been a big issue for us this year, chopping and changing of players in the back half, in the main forced upon us by injuries. If we can get a settled six and they get a string of games where they are all playing together we will be fine, cohesion is very important.

I like to delude myself that I'm a pretty balanced and measured supporter. But I have an almost irrational need for Young to p155 orf from the 23 until he stops being a bloody liability.

Won't solve all of our problems of course but our defence is under enough pressure without him contributing to it further.

Young is only a stop gap measure until others return, no point in expecting too much from him, we know his limitations.

He kicked 28 goals in 14 games in 2021?

So what was his ‘good’ form like in 2017 then..

Soapy V thoughts on Orazio? Does he just need a spell in the 2’s for confidence? Petrified of injuries? Struggling with our game plan?

Until Collingwood game I was happy with him playing bit part role but have lost patience.. I know he can come good but needs his confidence back

I agree that there’s plenty of scope for improvement for the team as a whole

Certainly doesn’t deserve a spot but it highlights our lack of depth.

I don’t know issue but he’s not even close

Desperately need Fogarty Martin & Motlop back and I’d also look at Williams up forward

But do we have a lack of depth in that area? He is probably our 6th best specialist small/mid-sized forward with Martin/Motlop/Fogarty/Owies/Durdin ahead of him. With the first 3 out we are forced to play those ranked 4-6 together in the team which is not ideal.

I suppose “Quality Depth” may be a better term

I was happy to recruit Fantasia as he brings genuine leg speed and goal sense and cost nothing. Issue (at the moment) is he isn’t producing close to his best form.

Hopefully he can turn it around

He's just not that good. Would rather Boyd play his role and Cincotta play the current Williams role. We'd leak far less goals with this setup and also improve our rebound, as Boyd is a far better kick than Williams & can break lines.

Try Williams as a small fwd? Can't be worse than our current output.

Otherwise, I don't see a place for him.
He's been out for 2 years with severe injuries including a torn ACL aren't you going to make allowance..or do you think everybody should be able to play like Sam Walsh ?

If Gov comes in he goes to Turner IMO. Therefore:

Weitering to Van Royen
Young to Petty
Gov to Turner
Kemp to Fritsch
Boyd to Kosi
We don’t want Gov being dragged to the goal square by Fritsch as we need his kicking skills to attack from half back so I agree with that match up.

Cincotta sureley has first crack at Kosi after his efforts on Bobby Hill.
